Euell A. Wilson was born December 5, 1972, and died November 13, 1992, at the age of nineteen. He was not only one of the top athletes in the city of Fort Wayne but also an outstanding student. He touched so many lives through his humble and caring nature toward life. In his memory, Shirley Woods, his mother, founded the Euell A. Wilson Center (EAWC). In February 1993, the Center was established as a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization to inspire youth to look at the brighter side of life to overcome obstacles. Shirley Woods, Founder, has provided vision and inspired others tobecome partners and advocates for inner city youth. In 2004, Mrs. Woods was given the Citizen of the Year Award by the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette Newspaper for her leadership, enthusiasm and passion for at-risk youth. 2

Program Information Our after school program provides kids with a fun, safe, place to go after school where they can get a nutritious meal, homework help, and participate in other fun and educating programs.After-School HoursMon. Tues. & Thurs. Summer Hours 3:00-7:00 p.m. Wed. & Fri. Mon. – Fri. 3:00-6:00 p.m. 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.Our summer program provides a fun and safe outlet for kids during the summer months. Kids are able to get a nutritious breakfast and lunch, tutoring help in preparation for the next year of school, fun and educational programs, and best of all, every Friday they get to go on a fieldtrip! 4
Nutrition Kids Café is a program offered in collaboration with Community Harvest Food Bank. Nutritional meals are provided for the youth each afternoon as they arrive at thecenter from school. During the summer, youth are provided with breakfast and lunch. 5
JEWELS– Girls’ Group Positive life planning for young girls. Covering issues like hygiene, peer pressure, simple Bible truths, dating and emotional issues. We want girls to see they are precious JEWELS that shine bright in the world. 6
ONYX ClubONYX is a program for the boys at the center. This program is deigned to prepare boys togrow into respectful young men. Life skills, simple Bible truths, health, hygiene are somethings focused on. How to react positively to peer pressure is taught and how to properly treat girls. Our goal is to prepare the boys for their future ahead. 7
Academic ExcellenceAcademic achievement is very important to the Euell A. Wilson Center. Every Monday-Thursday from 4- 5 p.m. is homework time. Bishop Dwenger, Snider and IPFW students assist with this program. Homework Help 8
Project READS is sponsored by Allen County Education Partnership. The goal is to help students in grade K-3 read at grade level by the time they complete the 3rd grade. This program is also designed to help those students in the higher grades that read below a 3rd grade level. 9
Junior JEWELS Program is offered for girls ages 5-11. This program was developed to enhance andencourage creativity and individuality in the girls. Girls learn songs, play games, earn prizes, and make crafts. 10
Boy ScoutsThe Euell A. Wilson Center partners with the local Boy Scouts of Anthony Wayne Area Council for boys ages 5-11. Boy Scouts of America provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness. 11
Jesus ClubA program designed for Elementary School aged children. The kids are taught Bible storiesand often can role play the various characters. Show and tell is also an activity the children can participate in. This program is co-facilitated with the youth group from County Line Church of God. 12
Youth MinistryProgram for Middle and High school students. The group meets weekly for Bible studyand Christian life skills training. Youth are also invited to give personal testimonies and build one-on-one relationships with staff and peers. Activities include movies, guest speakers, in-state and out-of-state conferences, and field trips. 13
LeadershipThis program was designed to teach the children how to be productive leaders of society. This program is for the older teens that attend the Center. The group goes on field trips and attends conferences on team building exercises. 14
Healthy Spirits Pool League/Character BuildingA local pool champion conducts this program each week to provide instruction in pool play andcharacter building for youth ages 8-15. The youth entertain speakers on a regular basis and go on field trips. 15
Recreation and Field TripsChildren of all ages like to forget about schoolwork and just play! Sometimes recreationincludes field trips, arts and crafts, and swimming. At other times the children are free to play pool, air hockey, bumper pool, board games along with other activities. All age groups are included. 16
Performing Arts The program is titled African Heritage Rites of Passage through Arts (AHRP) and isdesigned to give youth positive means of self expression. It includes both visual andperforming arts such as clothing design, creative dance, poetry, African hair braiding,martial arts, keyboarding, drawing and painting . Youth can demonstrate their skills during recitals. 17
Women Enrichment Program In June of 2014, the Euell Wilson Center started a Women Enrichment Program. It is designed to reach out to the mother’s of the youth that we serve. The program’sprimary focus is to encourage, equip and empower mothers to be their personal best! EncouragementEmpower 18
