So You Want to be a Dictator To be a dictator you must persuade the people with what they want to hear then when you get into power you will have full power and keep the people under your control with propaganda which will eventually brainwash them, but the kids will be brainwashed faster than adults. Like Stalin you can use the government to create a secret police to keep the people under control and agreeing with your power. Then for a modern example is how Kim Jong un uses his power to shut down internet access so his people won’t be able to learn about how what he is doing is wrong.

Propaganda Propaganda is when the leader uses the media to persuade and brainwash people into following him and his decisions and even put pictures of him in schools to show the kids who they are following and how they should praise him. Hitler used propaganda to show and persuade his people that he was a kin and caring leader, but he used this to gain and stay in power. Xi Jinping used his propaganda to get his people to worship him and keep himself in power by having his people follow him using things that people would have in their lives.

With censoring the media you can show all the good things you did like Benito Mussolini did to give himself a good background to the people and to show all the victories he had in war and this got the people to follow him. How to Keep Your Power-Step 2 You can use education ins classes to brainwash kids and people into following you and praise you to stay in power by using propaganda in schools to show the kids who they leader is and how they should cherish him and they show all the successes the ruler has and how great he is. Joseph Stalin put propaganda of himself in and around schools so the kids could be brainwashed into following him and cherishing him for his leadership. King Salman used the education to teach the kids all of his successes in society and everything good he did for the country.

How to Keep Your Power-Step 3 You can repress opposition which means you can eliminate the other competition to keep your power or you can do the same to the people who are against your power this also can be accomplished by threatening or intimidating them into submission. Like Joseph Stalin you can kill off all the people who against you with execution in private locations which will also intimidate other people that are against you because they will start to notice the people like them disappearing. You can do what Muhammad bin Salman did by putting the opposition in jail and lock them up to threaten the people that they were working with.

Imprisoning and Torturing The Enemy If you do this it can scare the enemy into submission and you can gain information on them that nobody else knows and this can lead to you controlling them and you can blackmail them into getting what you want and it can keep them from threatening your power. Like Adolf Hitler you can make up an excuse by using other people to make a common enemy between them and for him it was the jews and it made everyone hate the Jews so Hitler killed, tortured, and gassed them to show his power. Like Muhammad bin Salman you can also imprison your enemies to keep your power and threaten anyone who is against your power.

Military and Police Force You can use your military and police to your advantage so you can spy on the people and keep them under control, but you have to have the police be secret or the people might try and over run you with the secret police you can watch the people who are against you and teach them a lesson or make them disappear. You can do what Joseph Stalin did by creating a secret police to watch anyone who is against you and eliminate the competition so no one can try and go against you and it would threaten anyone who thought about trying to go against you. Like Kim Jong Un you can use your military power to use threats to protect your country, people, and power so no one can try and threaten your people or your power

Control Over Social Media & the Internet They use their power to enforce laws against things on the media or the use their government power to censor what the public sees and hears and they use this to show things that won’t affect their power and keep the people from learning the truth about how other countries think they are bad people and how what their doing is wrong. Kim Jong Un used this to his advantage and censored what his people saw on the internet by blocking websites and some internet accesses so his people wouldn’t learn of all the bad things their ruler is doing and how it can affect their lives.

Aggression Toward Other Countries/Groups of People You can use Nationalism, genocide, ethnic conflict to get the people on your side and see what you believe is right by making a common enemy amongst your people like using another country as the enemy or maybe another religion. Adolf Hitler used nationalism and genocide to keep the people on the same side as him by making the jewish religion a common enemy in Germany and he would kill them then try to continue to have too much pride for his country and tried to gain more power by taking over other countries which lead to his downfall. Kim Jong Un uses nationalism by also having too much pride for his country and trying to show his power by using nuclear threats against other countries.

Manipulating Laws and Policies You can manipulate the laws to create secret police’s, ban websites, censor what the public sees on the media it can help you keep your actual ideas for the country hidden from the people and you can show the people what they want to stay on his side and keep him in power. Like Kim Jong Un you can use the laws to create policies against certain websites and limit access on the internet so the public can't learn anything against you. Like Joseph Stalin you can censor what the media sees and show all your good accomplishments and you can use your powers to create a secret police that can keep people from trying to stop your power.
