June 2021 DPS News June – What a busy month we’ve had with many construction projects throughout the City moving forward and a TON of rain! The City saw flooding like its never seen before but our team was there and resolved any issues as quickly as possible (see more information in the pages that follow). We saw the completion of the Auburn Road Corridor with the Splash Pad and Plaza opening this month. Our Detroit Area Rain Totals operations team continues to be busy with the normal summer routine and preventative maintenance tasks such as road grading and crack sealing. Our engineering team continues to work on the many MissDig requests, private project inspections, GIS and Roadsoft updates as well as completing many of the unfunded mandates related to our water system. Our Lead and Copper testing letters recently went out with testing commencing in the next month or so. Also this month, our Management team met with the Road Commission for Oakland County to coordinate on upcoming projects within our City. We are really looking forward to the start of the reconstruction near Yates Cider Mill. We were also pleased to see that the Governor proclaimed an Essential Worker Appreciation Day! DPS Accomplishments Emergency Response Plan (ERP) June marked the completion of our ERP which is mandated by the EPA. We mobilized quickly, compiled a very thorough plan and certified with the EPA within the required deadline. The ERP is 220 pages and includes thorough information on the following: • Utility Information • Resiliency Strategies • Emergency Plan and Procedures • Mitigation Actions • Detection Strategies Pavement Surface Evaluation and Rating (PASER) June also marked the completion of our PASER ratings which is a process whereby a team of employees drive the roads and apply a rating between 1 - 10. The team needs to consist of individuals that have met the training and certification requirements between 2018 and 2021. Here are the results of the latest rating: This percentage will decrease when the 2021 current construction projects are updated Thank you to the Fleet Team who followed the COVID precautions and installed a protective screen between the drivers seat and passenger seat of the vehicle to keep our rating team safe as they completed this project.
