Or, step into a place that is so alive with passion and creativity it feels contagious? Take one step off of Last Chance Gulch, through the doors of fourOsix, shake hands with Alex “Papu” Rincon and you’ll see just what I mean. FourOsix is a lifestyle shop that promotes art, music, style, forward thinking and Montana living. It is a retail store that operates with a strong focus on community and social responsibility. (Source: fourOsix.com) Papu grew up in Helena and has devoted himself to creating a business that celebrates all the things he truly loves while giving back to his community in strong and tangible ways. When he recalls the experience of what it was like to be a young person growing up with big ideas and lots of energy in a small Montana town Papu explains, “Unless you were really into traditional sports or school- related activities, you were kind of left to figure it out on your own. There really wasn’t a place that celebrated the artists and musicians, the skaters and snowboarders, the outdoorsman and mountain bikers. These were such talented young people. They were lacking a unified voice.\" So, he and a friend took it upon themselves to startup and host a radio show specifically for that purpose. The Sidecar: HELENA’S CO-WORKING SPACE Perched above the community staple, fourOsix, this innovative co-working space looks out over Last Chance Gulch and features high speed internet, cold brews and local beers on tap. The space is filled with creators, doers, idea makers and innovators and was started by two local entrepreneurs, Jason O’Neil and Rogie King. The space started out as a place for these two to collaborate and get out of their home offices. Together, they realized there was a need for other local creators to have a space where they can grow their businesses and ideas. This space emits creativity and a culture of community. If you work remotely, The Sidecar is the space for you to create and collaborate. To dream and develop. To run with ideas and work with innovators. It’s your new favorite place. “WE BELIEVE THAT WE DO LIFE AND WORK BETTER, SIDE-BY- SIDE THAN ALONE.” In addition to the co-working space they provide, they have also started a monthly music concert inside of the space called Sidecar Sessions, which is described as “Rad people, playing live music to pleasure your ear drums, while hanging out at (debatably) the coolest place in downtown Helena.” They feature local artists from Helena as well as great bands from surrounding towns. n INAUGURAL ISSUE | 79

LearningL I F E L O N G PHOTOS by JASON O'NEIL WRITING by CLAIRE BACHOFNER Celebrating 100 years in the Capital City, Carroll College, a private, liberal arts college well known for its pre-med, nursing, and Masters in accounting programs, has become a true asset to the Helena community. The campus is influenced by the area’s rich catholic history, though it is not, by any means, an exclusively catholic school. Students enjoy the magnificent grandeur of historical architecture as well as modern buildings which offer new and improved opportunities for health and recreation, student housing, and updated learning facilities.
