THE ASIAN SCHOOL, KINGDOM OF BAHRAIN FRENCH GRADE 8 LEÇON 4: À L’ÉCOLE (AT SCHOOL) I- LES ARTICLES CONTRACTÉS: (COMBINE ARTICLES) When you put the prepositions de or à next to a definite article (le, la, l’, les), the preposition changes based on the number and gender of the noun being described. Before : Masculine singular noun: de + le = du à + le = au Feminine singular noun: de + la = de la à + la = à la Fem/mas starting with vowel or ‘h’: de + l’ = de l’ à + l’ = à l’ Fem/mas plural noun: de + les = des à + les = aux Example: faire du vélo (de + le = du). because vélo is masculine jouer aux échecs (à + les = aux). beause echecs is plural Just remember to put the right ending on the verb and to add the correct preposition and activity to make a grammatically correct statement. Les sports Les jeux Les instruments de musique Le ski Le scrabble Le piano Les cartes (cards) La guitare Le football Les échecs (chess) Le tennis Le violon (violin) Le roller (roller-skate) La trompette (trumpet) L’athlétisme (athleticism) La voile (sailing) Le saxophone La randonnée (hiking) La batterie (drums) Le jogging Le basket Le volley La pétanque (bowling) IV- LES ADJECTIFS INTERROGATIFS: (INTERROGATIVE ADJECTIVE) When asking someone to make a choice between two or more things, you need the interrogative adjective quel, meaning \"which\" or \"what.\" EXAMPLE: Quel film veux-tu voir ?
