DDMS (AMS) P. Obul Reddy Public School 1st Edition 2020 April - October While the novel corona was wreaking mayhem across the world, we needed to rethink about the school journal in a new format to reach out to the stake holders. Beginning anew with this idea opened up a plethora of avenues to explore and be innovative. This has resulted in the creation of this e-newsletter. Here we present this periodical . Conceiving the idea to deciding the theme and then, creating templates for this has been nothing short of an adrenaline rise. We hope you preserve the fragrance of this assimilation. We earnestly look forward to seeing the issues to set a trend in the annals of school’s history.

Simplicity is about subtracting the obvious and adding the meaningful 2 Since the COVID -19 pandemic has disrupted the normal lifestyle of people across the globe, the virtual world has come to the rescue. DDMS P. OBUL REDDY PUBLIC SCHOOL has also shifted base to the virtual schooling system, and has proudly piloted not only academic classes but also every event of the pre-pandemic period virtually. The students partook in every event with panache. It is understood that shifting from offline to online classes and navigating through the virtual classroom can be challenging for parents and children. Hats off to the tireless efforts and utmost dedication of the team of the school IT Department who spruced up the existing online platforms like ‘Google Classroom’, ‘meet’ for steering classes, and ‘exam.net’ for conducting exams, etc. The Classes were planned meticulously and with efficiency and efficacy. The school is ensuring that everything starting from attendance to giving assignments to students is done in a similar manner as their regular classroom, so students don’t have to struggle to cope up. Time-tables, breaks, prayer, afternoon good-byes, etc. have been kept intact. The students are being given the schooling experience, though virtually. Further, teachers have been making continuous efforts to provide customized teaching-learning material suitable for online classes to facilitate the schooling of children. The school has taken the recommendations of the NEP with complete dedication and commitment. The students are being trained to virtually attend non-academic subjects like Music, Art, fitness and wellness with equal standing. Additionally, feedback from parents and children are also taken consistently. Further, the school also sends out circulars and SMS, conducting parent orientation and ensuring class supervision mechanisms in place. There is no denying that for now, this e-learning experience is for all. It’s the pride and privilege of the school that it could transform into the new learning mode without wasting any time. The credit goes to the Management of DDMS P. Obul Reddy Public School and Academic Heads under the leadership of the Principal. Last but not least it goes without saying that the bountiful backing the parents have extended has made this venture much more meaningful and productive.

Better Together.. 4 Online Classes is the New Norm Hand in Hand with the Stake Holders Pre-primary Primary The School believes in the holistic learning approach and leaves no stone unturned to achieve it.Parents have a direct impact on the education their wards receive, especially in an online learning setting. As per the new normal arising out of the pandemic situation, each class is now presenting very innovative interesting assemblies which showcase the students’ creative potential. Moreover, the parents have extended their valuable contribution by being a part of assembly, subject classrooms, and ISA activities by giving motivational, academic and creative suggestions to students. It goes without saying that the bountiful backing the parents have extended have made the assemblies more meaningful and productive. The School Management, Faculty and the Student community takes this opportunity to extend their profuse gratitude to the parents. Innovation in Enrichment Everyone considers the traditional approach in education as the best one. Nevertheless, technological innovations and sophisticated instructional delivery methods which are learnt and integrated by the teachers into the teaching learning process are well received. Virtual Student Council selection, Independence Day Celebrations, Assessments, Mega University Fairs etc. are being carried out flawlessly. Middle & High School Senior Secondary

Win or lose, good or bad, the experience will change you 18 To Learn is to Adventure and Experience LIFE LESSON LEARNT THROUGH AN EXPERIENCE There are so many situations that prove “Experience is the “Trying is Better than Crying” Best Teacher”. I read many story books and listen to the lessons told by my teacher. They give us knowledge. It all started when I was around 4 and a half years old. I Sometimes, I cannot understand a few concepts and ask my was interested and fascinated by Gymnastics, so my teacher or my mother. One day, my teacher explained and parents decided to enroll me in a Gymnastics class. I demonstrated the ‘sinking and floating concept’. I got joined the class, but there was one problem. I started confused with the logic but when I came home and tried crying if my parents weren’t around during the class. myself then I actually experienced that heavier things sink This went on for a while, but with the encouragement and lighter things float. There are so many successful people around us who have shown us that we can learn from our mistakes. Accept that failure is waiting for you. There are some ground rules for dealing with challenges. Some of them are: ● Do not fear a challenge ● Learn from it ● Own up to your mistakes ● Do not let it control you If you are afraid of failure, and trying something new, then you are never going to grow. Success and failures are a package deal-take both, or take none. Ananya V-C Experience the Perfect Master For many of us young students, the knowledge obtained from books and teachers seems imperfect in several aspects. It seems dull and much of it goes undigested in reality. Oops! When we are asked questions in between the class – I'm sure everyone can predict the scene. This is not to underestimate the importance of books. After all, the content of any book is based on experience. Experience is endless and more than fetching than any other form of learning. To quote an instance, if we visit historical places like Agra, Bijapur, Ellora caves etc., what we learnt about these places in books will take on life, colour and vividness. There can be no better way to learn history than experiencing those real-life incidents through these testimony structures and understanding them at first hand. Why? Don't we prefer an experienced lawyer or a doctor, however highly qualified he may be? In certain spheres of life experience is a must. We know the meaning of phrases and verbs generally by reading textbooks. I knew the phrase ‘Fish-Market’ figuratively meant an extremely noisy, disorderly place, but it was only when I happened to visit a fish market and observe the tremendous bustle and noise, did I realise the real meaning of the phrase; Oh my, what ecstasy I felt on the discovery. Yes, for sure, “The best teacher in life is experience and how true it is when they say, the worst experience teaches the best lesson”. D. Saathvik – VI C

Throw away the bad experience, but save the lesson. [Type here] 19 Well why is 'Experience the best teacher in life'? Experience is the best teacher because it teachers us real lessons and leads to personal growth. One gets to know one’s friends and foes and it teaches to be calm. Experience is a true form of education which comes from real-life practice. Thus, experience teaches us real-life lessons. We can't grow as a person without making a few mistakes. It is important to learn from these mistakes and use that knowledge as a tool for personal growth. Learning from experience is always a lot different from learning from books. One can’t learn driving by just referring to books. It needs to be acquired with practice. Positive experiences provide people with memories for life. They love being encouraged, feeling alive or enjoying a stimulating event. At the other end of the scale, people learn to endure painful setbacks and generate strength from it. They feel empowered to shape their future lives. Shrihan Sahoo - VII A Experience-The Greatest Teacher Yes, rightly so. History is an evidence that the lessons learnt by a person through experience is a lesson learnt for life. Even an infant holds on to a support as he wobbles to stand on his own feet, because the last time he did it he had fallen down! We have all grown up listening to the story of the liar shepherd whose cries go in vain, because nobody believed that he had encountered a real tiger. Was he not taught to be truthful? Indeed, he was, but he had paid no heed to it. The result, of course, was that he could not save his life and fell prey to the animal. Like the shepherd in the story, everybody grows up listening to advice which has come alive because of somebody else’s experience. One learns and accepts it only when his own experience gives him the same advice. Now, my word of advice- Make sure it’s never too late! Harshita Jain IX-D EXPERIENCE Every Like the title suggests, rather subtly (don’t blame me, you missed the hint), World War II was one of Experience the most tragic incidents ever to have occurred in human history. The Tiananmen Square incident, though heart-breaking, is a rather insignificant incident when compared to this dreadful war in which Makes almost 85 million people perished. You Experience has taught us that dropping a bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, though having ended the Grow. war, wasn’t the best move. However, our past experiences concerning this matter certainly do help a lot. By having recognized the shocking extent of damage these nuclear warheads did to Hiroshima and Nagasaki, we have learned that nuclear weapons and other weapons of unspeakable nature weren’t meant to be used for foolish war-mongering. It helps to know that though a few countries do possess a nuclear arsenal, they will hesitate to even think of using these weapons against the Chinese government. Experience has done its part here, serving us with very bitter memories of what we had done and ensures that we won’t be as impulsive and irrational as we were once. -Shreyas P Manu XI B
