Didactic Unit Template Teacher: Yeison Josué Bermúdez Portilla Title of the Unit: I interact and learn from different cultures. Contextualization: Unit aimed at five fifth-grade students from CER the Phoenician aged between 10 to 11 years, they are students who live in a rural area of the lagoon, they have an A1 level of English, they do not have immediate access to online resources, they only rely on the use of the dictionary and the instructions given in the guides. They are participative, curious students and are motivated towards learning foreign languages. Justification: Because they are topics that involve the student in learning so that they can take it outside the classroom and can give it a meaning and a concrete use in real life, topics that motivate them and take them further, since with the acquisition of these contents You will be able to access more information, you will be able to realize the importance of traveling to enrich your experiences and strengthen your capacities in various aspects of your life, you will be able to interact and you will be able to learn many interesting things from other people, learn about other cultures, habits, perspectives and ways of living, so that these topics are rigorously chosen to motivate the student to travel, get to know and expand their vision of the world and everything they can achieve by knowing expressions as simple as these in English. Organization of the Didactic Unit: There will be three sessions, each one organized in the following way: countries and nationalities, expressions of courtesy, modal verbs. It was divided in this way since the contents will be taught sequentially according to the hierarchical order or difficulty that each one has, in this way we will begin with those sessions that introduce the student to the topic of the unit.
General Objective Appropriate situational expressions in English. Specific Objectives Discovering places, I meet people, I interact and I learn about their cultures. Relate the vocabulary learned with real life situations. Subject Content countries and nationalities, expressions of courtesy, modal verbs. Vocabulary Language Nationalities: Argentinian, Brazilian, Chilean, Content Colombian, Peruvian, Venezuelan, Canadian, Cuban, Dominican, Jamaican, Mexican, / American, British, Danish, English, French, Communi German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Scottish, cation Spanish Turkish. Structures Modal verbs: Can, Could, May, Might, Will, Would, Must, Shall, Should, Ought to. Language Courtesy expressions: Mister, Madam, My skills / name is, Excuse me, Nice to meet you, Thank Discourse you, Welcome, Please, come in! type Structure of a sentence in the affirmative, negative and interrogative with the modal verbs. Affirmative: subject + modal verb + infinitive Negative: subject + modal (n´t) + infinitive Interrogative: (wh) modal verb + subject + infinitive + question mark (?). input: reading, listening through songs, reading exercises, dialogues. output: speaking, writing dialogues, writing exercises.
Activities first class- countries and nationalities warm-up: all the expressions used are pasted on the wall and with the help of a makeshift telescope they are asked to identify the ones they know. Presentation: the subject is presented to the students through flash cards and pronunciation is practiced. Practice: the game of the bridge is proposed where the person who falls into prison must ask one of his companions something related to the subject using the expressions studied. Production: the flashcards with the expressions are turned upside down and the student is asked to remember where a certain expression was put. Assessment: a quiz is applied. Second class - expressions of courtesy Warm - up: they socialize the flashcards with the students and hide in the room, whoever they find wins. Presentation: the topic is presented to the students using flashcards. Practice: use dialogues to practice the topic. Production: the student is asked to create a story using the expressions studied. Assessment: a quiz is done. Third class: modal verbs Warm-up: proceed to sing a song related to the theme. Presentation: the subject is presented to the students giving the instructions and examples on the board. Practice: a round table is made and with the use of flashcards a student is placed in the center blindfolded, when stop is said the student removes the bandage and asks his classmates about the product using the modal verbs until he finds to the one who has it. Production: we proceed to play a game where food or food is ordered from a supermarket and
