He is considered a champion of justice, a healer of the sick, a guardian of the Church. • Over time his role became one of a protector and the leader of the army of God against the forces of evil. • He is known as the patron saint of grocers, mariners, paratroopers, police officers, and military personnel. • Many people believe that Saint Michael protects us at the hour of our death.

Kinabayo Festival This event occurs every 25th of July Dapitan city in Zamboanga Del Norte Mindanao
Kinabayo Festival History The history of Kinabayo festival begun during the Spanish-Moorish war. Saint James the Great was believed to be leading the Spanish colony in victory with an imagery of Saint James riding a horse with a sword. Nevertheless, when the Spanish missionaries came the Spaniard soldiers seek help from them by their devotion to Saint James, they won the war. The story has been adapted by the people of Dapitan and through generation they give thanks because it is Saint James the great who has freed the city.
Saint James the Greater Saint James the Greater is one of the 12 apostles of Jesus. It is said that he is only distinguished as \"Greater\" from \"James the less\" which is a different apostle. He was the first apostle to be martyred by Herod Agrippa's order during the age AD 44. The Spanish colony prayed to him to lead them in victory against the Moorish, since then they have expressed their gratitude by celebrating his feast every 25th of July.
Celebration of Kinabayo Festival • The Dapitos would often re- enact the battle of Covadonga, war between Spaniards' colony and Moorish, through dancing and marches with colorful clothes of a 16th century soldier as well as props to honor Saint James' intervention which freed Dapitan itself. The Kinabayo Festival is now also known as Saint James' feast. As for the locals of Dapitan \"Viva Senor Santiago\"

People's Experience of Kinabayo Festival • Since the festival is located in Zamboanga Del Norte, Dapitan Mindanao other people will have to travel far, although it is said that the festival is worth it to be travelled for because of a lively crowd as well as other activities such as tournaments ,foods to eat and lastly the main event the march and re-enactment of the battle of Spaniard-Moorish. On top of that is their hearts closer to Saint James for it is his feast
Kinabayo's influence on Filipino Catholics The kinabayo Festival's influence to Filipinos is to never forget to express our gratitude even if it has been several decades since the help given to us, we should not ignore the fact that they have lend their kind hands to us because without it we would be still in agony.
