DIFFICULTY RATING ★★★ ★★Issue 34ClayCraft51.25While the dish is still in the mould, neaten the rim by cutting it level with the edge of the plaster, taking care not to actually cut into it because it will contaminate the clay.27Work over the surformed rim with a kidney to neaten it up.30Wipe over the sanded dish with a damp cloth when fi nished to remove all traces of dust.26Allow the bowl to fi rm up to leather hard in the mould then carefully lift it out and sit it on a foam bed with a hole cut out at the centre.Surform the rim until it’s perfectly neat, level and rounded-o .28Allow the bowl to dry slowly, supported on the foam bed before bisque fi ring. 29Once bisque-fi red, remove any rough areas in the cut away sections by rubbing with fi ne sandpaper.Wear a dust mask to do this and carefully brush away the residue when fi nished.

SKILL SCHOOL52ClayCraftIssue 3431Brush or dip your dish in a glaze of choice. If brushing, follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for the number of coats required, allowing each one to dry before applying the next. Make sure you brush the glaze into all the cut away areas for an even covering.Start on the underside and make sure all areas are covered before moving to the inside of the bowl.32Glaze the inside of the bowl in the same way as the outside, making sure no areas are left unglazed. When dry, fi re the dish to the recommended temperature for your clay and glaze. If fi ring to earthenware, you can support the bowl on a star prop to lift it o the kiln shelf. If fi ring to stoneware, you will need to wipe the glaze away from the area where the dish will sit on the kiln shelf, making sure to allow a little extra clearance for glaze run.The fi nished dish was made from white earthenware clay and decorated with Botz brush-on glaze, Gloria.Fired to 1046°C in an electric kiln.PROJECTFOUR

Issue 34ClayCraft55DIFFICULTY RATING ★ ★★ ★ ★.Issue 34ClayCraft55You will need:■Clay – earthenware or stoneware – white was used here, but a coloured clay would also work■Rolling pin, 3-5mm roller guides, plastic sheet■Former tube – it must be wider than a standard tealight to allow for shrinkage in firing■Transparent glaze■Mayco Accents Black liner for feature decorationDIFFICULTY RATING ★ ★★ ★ ★

SKILL SCHOOL56ClayCraftIssue 34Prepare a block of clay large enough to roll a slab 25-30cm square.Working on the sheet of plastic, reduce the bulk of the clay by beating it with the side of your rolling pin. Work in measured, even strokes from one side of the clay to the other, to avoid making deep grooves in the surface.Roll out the clay between the roller guides, making sure it’s as square as possible. You will fi nd that periodically turning the slab will make rolling much easier, and ensure it’s an even thickness. When fully rolled, smooth over the surface with a rib to compact the clay.1SKILL SCHOOLPROJECTFIVEBefore you begin:Roll the forming tube in newspaper and secure the overlap with a small piece of paper tape.Stu the excess paper into the ends of the tube.

Issue 34ClayCraft57DIFFICULTY RATING ★ ★★ ★ ★. Cut the bottom edge of the slab straight, then the sides, using a batten to cut against to ensure a straight line.2Place the tube at the lower, cut end of the slab, then using the plastic sheet to help lift the clay, roll the slab around the tube until it meets on the other side.3Peel away the excess slab from both the outer and inner areas of the overlap.7 Stand the tube upright, then place a batten over the overlap making sure it’s vertical.5 Cut away the excess slab, allowing about 1cm spare, as shown.Reserve the spare slab under plastic, for later.4 Cut through the two layers of clay with a knife held at an angle, blade resting on the batten to ensure a straight cut. This will result in bevelled edges for a more secure join.6

SKILL SCHOOL58ClayCraftIssue 34Apply slip to the scored edges then carefully join them together. You may fi nd it easier to stand the tube upright to do this, as it gives more purchase.Gently press the edges together with your thumb, trying not to distort the clay too much as you work.9 Lay the tube down and carefully score the joining edges with a serrated kidney.8SKILL SCHOOLPROJECTFIVE Gently roll over the join with a brayer if you have one. These are handy tools to have for all sorts of studio practice but in this case, because they really seal the surfaces together well. If you don’t have one, try paddling the surface with a wooden spatula.10 Smooth over the join with a rib to remove any possible lumps or irregularities from the surface.11VERY GENTLY roll the tube over an absorbent board to reduce some of the moisture in the clay.DO NOT press hard when doing this; it will enlarge the tube if you do!12

Issue 34ClayCraft59DIFFICULTY RATING ★ ★★ ★ ★. Stand the tube upright again to check that the surface is smooth and even. You should be able to ease the clay down to the work surface if careful, where you can tap it up and down a couple of times to ensure it has a nice flat base.13 Lay the tube down once more, then using a card ruler lined up to the bottom, mark out the height for the first holder around the circumference.14 Carefully cut around the marked lines with a sharp knife.15 Using the spare slab reserved from earlier, cut out two discs to fit your tubes.18 Gently ease the lower tube o the inner tube, handling it very carefully to avoid distorting the shape.Remove the second section in the same way.If some newspaper is stuck to the inside of the tubes once released, simply pick it out carefully.16 Test out the size of your cookie cutters to see if you have one the approximate size of the tube.Don’t worry if you don’t have one, simply make a disc template in sti card to the correct size.17

SKILL SCHOOL60ClayCraftIssue 34 Use a tealight as a measure for where to position the disc inside the tube. Mark the position on the interior, bearing in mind you will want to see the fl ame of the candle as it burns, so the level won’t be very far down.20 Tape a cardboard disc over one end of your former tube. This will act as a support when fi xing the disc in place.22Test the disc will fi t inside the tube. If slightly too large, simply shave the size down a little with a surform blade until it fi ts neatly.19SKILL SCHOOLPROJECTFIVE Score the position for the disc on the inside of the tube and the edge of the disc itself.21 Slip the scored area inside the tube.23

Issue 34ClayCraft61DIFFICULTY RATING ★ ★★ ★ ★ Slide the former tube inside the clay tube to just below the slipped area, then carefully drop the disc into place inside. Use the former tube to adjust the level so that the disc fits where it should.Gently pinch around the disc while the former is still inside, to ensure it seals to the sides.24 Remove the inner tube, then carefully paddle around the area of the disc on the outside of the tube, using a wooden spatula.25 Once more, place the former tube inside the holder to support the shape as you reinforce the join with a coil of soft clay.26. Work over the rim of the holder with a rib to soften and round it o.28Carefully blend the coil in with a finger or wooden tool, then neaten up with a suitably shaped rib.27

SKILL SCHOOL62ClayCraftIssue 34 Make the second holder in exactly the same way.nal check, sit the tea light inside the holder fiJust as a to make sure there is room for shrinkage.29SKILL SCHOOLPROJECTFIVE ring. fiAllow the holder to dry slowly before bisque Make as many more as required in di erent sizes for best e ect.30 ring, sand fiAfter bisque away any rough areas on the holders, making sure you wear a dust mask.Brush away the excess dust carefully, then wipe over the surface of the holders with a damp cloth to remove any lingering traces.31Brush three coats of transparent glaze over the inside and exterior surfaces of the candle holders, allowing each coat to dry between applications.Remember to leave the bottom rim and small margin above, unglazed inside and out to allow for ring. figlaze run during 32

Issue 34ClayCraft63DIFFICULTY RATING ★ ★★ ★ ★Trail a design of choice over the glazed surface using the Mayco Accents liner. The liner will blend with the glaze when fired and remain raised at lower temperatures. The design shown here is of simple winter trees.33 A finished candle holder waiting to be fired. Complete all your holders in variations of the same design for best eect.34 These candle holders have been made from white stoneware, brushed with Amaco transparent glaze and decorated with Mayco Accents black liner.Fired to 1200°C in an electric kiln. The candle holders look lovely filled with coloured tea lights and grouped together.

SKILL SCHOOLNAPKIN HOLDERSPROJECTSIX66ClayCraftIssue 34Make these sweet little napkin holders to grace your table on special occasions. They can easily be colour coordinated with the rest of your dinnerware or made in bright, colourful combinations as a bold statement

Issue 34ClayCraft 67DIFFICULTY RATING ★ ★ ★★ ★ .YOU WILL NEED:■Clay of choice – white earthenware used herePlastic sheet■Rolling pin and 5mm (max) roller guides■Texture sheet – can be lace, textured paper, rubber or silicone sheetsTIP The silicone texture sheet used here cost less than £3 from a bargain store – it measures 45cm square (huge!) and was found in the cake decorating section■Large cookie cutter – can be round, square or oval■Liquid underglaze colours of choice – 1 or more. See step 24 for details of those used in this projectBEFORE YOU BEGIN:It is important that the clay is soft for this project which is why most of the work is done on the plastic sheet – to prevent moisture loss. BE AWARE that if your clay is firm, you will risk the clay cracking as you form the shape because an extreme fold is involved.Prepare a block of clay large enough to accommodate the cutting out of as many holders as you want to make, if possible.Working on the sheet of plastic, reduce the bulk of the clay by beating it with the side of your rolling pin. Work in measured, even strokes from one side of the clay to the other, to avoid making deep grooves in the surface.Roll out the clay between the roller guides, making sure it’s the approximate size and shape of the texture sheet. You’ll find that periodically turning the slab will make rolling much easier and ensure it’s an even thickness. When fully rolled, smooth over the surface of the clay with a rib.1With the slab still on the plastic sheet, place the texture over the surface.2Roll the texture into the clay with the roller guides in place on either side if possible. Unfortunately, the texture sheet used here is as wide as the rolling pin so the guides won’t fit in, but I’m being very careful to ensure the slab is rolled evenly.3Carefully peel the texture sheet oŽ the slab once rolled.4

SKILL SCHOOL68ClayCraftIssue 34Working as economically as possible to maximise the space available on the slab, and using the fl uted side of the cookie-cutter, stamp out the fi rst shape.Carefully peel the shape o the underlying plastic. This can be a little tricky with softer clay, so take care.Lay the shape, textured side down, on the plastic sheet and smooth over the back surface with a rib. DO NOT apply too much pressure, or you’ll spoil the texture underneath.6Gently curl the shape over until it’s almost folded in half. Close the sides to within 2cm of each other.7Drape the shape over a length of dowel that has been covered in newspaper.85SKILL SCHOOLPROJECTSIX

Issue 34ClayCraft 69DIFFICULTY RATING ★★ ★★ ★ .Score the positions for the feet on the holder with the tip of a serrated kidney, plus the adjoining areas on the balls.12Apply a small dab of slip to the ball only, then fi t it in place on the holder.13Suspend the dowel between two blocks and allow the shapes to fi rm up in this position.Make as many more holders as you can cut from your slab, and line them up along the dowel.9Form four equally sized, small balls of clay, as feet for each holder.Roll the balls in the palm of your hand with a fi nger.10Test where best to place the feet on the fi rst holder. Part of them should stick up above the base of the holder, on each side of the fold. The feet must lift the holder o the work surface when fi xed in place.11then fi t it in place on the

70ClayCraftIssue 34Fix the remaining feet in place in the same way, then wipe away any excess slip with a damp paintbrush.14Lift the holder o the dowel, and tap it on the work surface a couple of times in its upright position to fi nd a level balance.16PROJECTSIXSqueeze the feet gently between fi ngers and thumbs as shown, to fl atten them o a little and ensure they are fi xed securely to the holder.15Complete the remaining holders in the same way.Allow the holders to dry slowly in their upright position. You may need to give them a little squeeze occasionally in the early stages of drying because clay memory will open the shape out a little.17Bisque fi re the holders when they’re completely dry.18Paint your chosen colour of underglaze over the entire surface of the fi rst holder – inside and out, making sure all the texture is fi lled in. You will only need one coat of underglaze.Do avoid painting the undersides of the feet if possible – where the holder will sit on the kiln shelf, but don’t worry if you go over – it can be removed later.19

Issue 34ClayCraft 71DIFFICULTY RATING ★★ ★★ ★ Complete the remaining holders in your underglaze colours of choice.20Place a sheet of fi ne sandpaper on the work surface then sand o the excess glaze and underglaze by rotating the holder several times until it’s all removed.22Brush the glaze over the surface of the holder – applying three coats, allowing each to dry before applying the next.Allow the holders to dry out completely before continuing.21underglaze by rotating the Finish up by wiping over the underside of the feet with a damp cloth to remove any lingering traces of glaze.23Fire your napkin holders to the glaze manufacturer’s recommended temperature. The following combinations of underglaze and glaze used here were:Amaco Velvet underglaze – Chartreuse, with Transparent pearl opalescent glaze.Amaco Velvet underglaze – Flame orange, with Bluebell opalescent glaze. The third was single-glazed in Amaco low-fi re Leaf green, coloured transparent. All were fi red to 1046°C in an electric kiln.24The fi nished holders neatly display the napkins and will look great on any table.

72ClayCraftIssue 34STARTING IN BUSINESSell, we’re away having a few days of enforced downtime. We had planned that after the York Ceramics Fair, we would travel down to Bedfordshire to visit ‘Granny England’, (my mother) in her care home and have a few days of restful recuperation before returning to Scotland and hitting our order list hard. Sadly, it hasn’t quite worked out like that, and the kiddies haven’t been able to see her. She was taken ill a few days ago and is currently in hospital, in the caring hands of our magnificent NHS. I really hope to see some improvement in her condition before we have to head back home across the border in three days. As you can imagine, it’s worrying and its tough living so far away from her.The weekend at the York Ceramics Fair was really good. The venue, a two-storey, 14th-century building, is set within York Museum Gardens. It is small, (some consider it too small), and we really like it as it creates quite a buzz of activity, even at the quieter times of the day. The organisers kindly allocated the pitch nearest the door to us, as it gave easy access in and out of the building with the children. Our work appeared really at home within the ancient stone pillars of the waterproof suits and wellies. Hannah and I Hospitium, as it is called. WThe rain came down in torrents, but rather than deterring our hardy Scottish children, they found and created much entertainment in running and splashing in the big puddles outside, for much of the weekend. You could give them all the toys in the world, and they’d probably still choose jumping in muddy puddles wearing some were purchased, some were swapped, took it in turns to tend the stand or the children. We had been invited to present a slide talk about our lives as potters, followed by a hands-on demo, where those who attended were encouraged to have a go with our varied range of slip trailers. Pippin sat quietly colouring in pictures, and Fred munched a little bag of crisps while watching cars and buses out of the window. Living as rurally as we do, he rarely sees such volume of traffic. They’re good little children; they know no other way of life, but I’m always proud of the manner in which they take it all in their stride. Sales were excellent, and we’ll be DIARYtravelling home a little lighter than when we came. It might have been very much lighter had we not replaced the pots we sold with new pieces for our collection, but, as we often maintain, we sell pots to buy pots, so it’s generally the way.Of the new additions to our collection, and some were gifts. Hannah bought on eBay – and had delivered to the show – a large Svend Bayer bowl, made in the early nineties. I was a member of Svend’s firing team on his huge wood kiln back then, so probably helped to fire this piece. It is Hannah’s treat to herself after all the hard work of putting the online exhibition together last month, and it’s a lovely thing. I swapped some of my pots for a really splendid teapot, made by Ray Finch in the 1930s at Winchcombe Pottery, and we were given fabulous pieces from Lara Scobie, Richard Heeley and Paul Young. Dylan Bowen gave the kiddies one of his little creatures each, lucky things. On our journey home, we will be Doug’s(Photo: Layton Thompson)Doug FitchNew to our collection, L-R, Dylan Bowen creatures, a Paul Young man with birds, a Lara Scobie vessel.Hannah's treat to herself, a stunning, large Svend Bayer bowl, diameter 42.5cm.

Issue 34 ClayCraft73KILNSdelivering pots to the Goldmark Gallery, an absolute treasure trove of a place which is packed with enticement. We’ll also stop off in Hawes in the Yorkshire Dales, where there’s an antique shop that always has a good stock of fine country pots. We must control our urges, or risk arriving home, pot rich and cash poor. In truth, I’m sure temptation will get the better of us, it usually does.As soon as we get home, we need to go back to work, as there are quite a few orders that are required before Christmas. The jug I’m decorating in the picture is one event Spring Fling. It’s a bold move, but it such order that I managed to complete before we left. When finished it will be like the one in the image taken from our online exhibition catalogue. The photography for our exhibition is costly, but well worthwhile, as after the show is finished we get to use the images for other things. I’m delighted to have been things fresh both for our customers and us.asked to provide the photograph of the pellet jug for inclusion in a book, provisionally entitled Ceramics Masterclass (“The Work”), by Louisa Taylor, due for publication next year. We also use them for applications for selected ceramics shows, the deadlines for which are upon us already. One thing is for sure, we can’t have another year like this year, or it’ll kill me. It’s been too crazy, with too many late nights trying to fulfil tight deadlines. The success of the online exhibition has made us consider other ways of doing this. Perhaps fewer ceramics events and less time on the road, with more focus on selling online, still, however, keeping two or three shows in the calendar, so that we stay in contact in the real world and not just the virtual one.To this end, we’ve applied for fewer shows, and we’ve also withdrawn our application from next year’s open studios’ allows us an uninterrupted run from now until June before the first show, to concentrate on building stock. Sales and orders from the online exhibition should keep us solvent. We’ll get an opportunity to develop some new work, rather than just here, but no doubt very soon, it will, repeating previous ideas, which keeps Opening on the 6th of June next year, we that. have been invited to present an exhibition alongside a contemporary Japanese painter at the excellent Stratford Gallery. It’s good to be able to concentrate our full focus into providing an exciting new body of work for that. Much as I love to make big jugs, there’s rarely a chance to make anything else, so I’m looking forward to having time to extend my range of forms and decoration.I hope it doesn’t come across ungracious that I’m complaining about the exhaustion, which is ultimately a consequence of the successes of this year. It’s been a brilliant year, and huge thanks go out to everybody who has supported us throughout. I just need to take a bit more care of myself and make sure I survive the next 12 months; I’m getting on a bit!Christmas fever has yet to consume us particularly when we can hang our aprons up for a few days; I’m so looking forward to Thank you for sharing our lives with us during 2019. Here’s wishing you all a very happy and peaceful festive time, whatever your beliefs, and a wonderful start to the next decade. 74ClayCraftIssue 34 STARTING IN BUSINESS y mum loves my pots, often commenting simply “mine” on my social media posts. Unfortunately, most of my pieces have a secret flaw around the back. I’m not going to take photos from the cracked/bare/crawled/ugly/lumpy/patchy side, now am I? So I tend to see the work that comes out of my kiln as ‘promising’ rather than ‘sellable’ or even ‘giftable’. This is beginning to be a problem. I definitely need to get better at accepting the variations of handmade pottery rather than – ahem – smashing it up. Mum also loves feeding the birds in her garden. Except the pigeons. She gets really annoyed when they steal all the food from the rest of the birds. This year, there were several brilliantly elaborate contraptions wrapped around the feeder on a tree in her back garden. We’d be sitting with a cup of tea and Mum would suddenly leap up and mutter something under her breath, and yes, there would be a pigeon somehow inside the previously pigeon-proof feeder. throwing a pad to attach my old batts. I When I saw the bird feeder project in issue 31, I thought of Mum. And it’s her birthday this month. I reckon the pigeons will find it hard to perch on the edge of this. Either that or they’ll tip it all over, and the nuts will end up on the floor… Either way, it’ll give my mum a laugh, so off I went, down the garden to my beautifully warm and insulated studio-shed.I was using my new batt system from Hartley and Noble for only the second time, and it was much, much easier than feel a bit lazy doing it, but as I have such limited time to play with clay, being able to just pop the batts quickly on and off the wheel makes all the difference. Centering is now pretty easy for me so long as the clay isn’t rock hard, and most of my clay is reclaimed, so it’s usually at Confessionsonfessions onfessions onfessions of a novice C C C Uh-oh. Too much in the middle, not enough at the edge.Circled: Far too thin on the base!MPIGEON-PROOF BIRD-FEEDER-WATERERS?Finally up and running in the new studio-shed, it was time to see whether I could make something good enough to give my mum Ta-da! Amaco Storm with Ancient Jasper accents, and Acai Matte Shino with Oatmeal accents.

Issue 34ClayCraft75BLOGthe other extreme. I centered a wider, flatter dome than usual and it felt strange to open up a channel, rather than the moisture out as I wedge, which often a centre hole. Not as strange as it felt when the dangling ties on my cardigan caught on the spinning clay, but let’s not dwell on that. The first time I opened up the channel in the clay, I found I’d left too much in the middle and not enough at the edge. Cutting it apart later, I could see that this had led to a base that was much too thin, and an excessively large dome in the centre. The next attempt, of course, went the other way.The third and fourth attempts, by now against the clock, as it was time to collect the kids from school, went more smoothly. The tricky bit of this project, so long as you’re able to close up a cylinder, is all about judging how much to leave in the centre as opposed to for the tray and rim, when opening that channel. Expect to make a few attempts before you get it right. I now keep my reclaim plaster batt on a shelf next to my wheel, so I can grab that and re-wedge my failures there and then. So long as the plaster is quite dry, it takes a lot of means I can throw with the newly wedged reclaim immediately. It’s probably softer than it should be, but I’d rather that than rock hard. There’s also a balance to be had at the point of lifting up the rim: you don’t want it too thin, or it won’t hold its shape, but too thick and you’ve got a heavy rim while the rest of the piece is pretty delicate. Not easy. Not for me, anyway. I cut my losses once I had two that seemed reasonable and brought them into the house to dry. The air’s damp in the shed-studio and while that’s good for drying things nice and slowly, I needed these to dry quickly so I could fire them and show you a finished picture for once.I did a mini bisque firing in my little test kiln while the bigger one was waiting for new elements, then yesterday I tested those elements with a big glaze firing. However, glazing takes so long that I didn’t manage to glaze many pieces, and to fill the kiln I had to dig out some pots I’d glazed literally two years ago. These had never been fired due to the early kiln drought. The danger was that three of the items were those large vases from my first blog in issue 9, and I’ve been secretly worried they might be earthenware. This is possible because the first time I ordered clay, I forgot to check its firing temperature and ended up putting an earthenware piece through a stoneware firing. I did not enjoy confessing that the blob stuck to the shelf was mine. I’d even glazed two of the vases at Potters Camp last year and then pulled them out of the firing pile at the last minute, terrified of having them melt all over other potters’ work. Thankfully, as I found out this evening after an anxious day at work, everything came through the kiln in one piece! Now to find out what happens with the pigeons.  Never throw with dangly clothing or hair or jewellery! Finally managed to make one that was good enough!Nope, that’s not enough in the middle…Follow me on social media via @pottlemuddery … which is obvious once it’s cut in half – too thin on the dome, too fat around the edge.

JANUARY14 JAN  18 APRBarry Steadman – Ceramic ShowcaseBarry’s vessel forms express abstract ideas of colour and form. Barry uses white earthenware clay and decorates the surfaces with slip, oxides and underglazes. The surfaces are created in layers, fi ring in between using thin washes, wiping back and building up rich zones of colour.“My intention is to use the vessel forms that I make – loosely thrown and altered on the wheel or constructed from slabs – as vehicles to explore contrasts of light and shade, hard and soft, warm and cool, rough and smooth, I’m interested in the way edges meet and overlap, and the rhythms, tensions and harmonies created between colours, spaces, lines and textures in form and surface. The surfaces are created in layers, fi ring in between using thin washes, wiping back and building up rich zones of colour. I then glaze chosen areas to add further depth, tone and texture.”craftcentreleeds.co.uk18 JANSculpture: Animals Krishna Alageswaran will show you how to make an animal sculpture. This workshop will focus on making a standing fi gure of an animal (with more substantial legs) of your choice. So rhinos, elephants and hippos are welcome but no gazelles, dogs, cats or similar please! 10am – 4pm£60arthousesheffi eld.co.uk18 JANBuild and sculpt your ideal mug in clayIn this one day workshop learn the basics of handbuilding. Abi Leach, the tutor, specialises in this technique and will be on hand to provide expert guidance throughout the day. You will have the chance to create two beautiful mugs from a humble lump of clay and learn how to apply slips. Once you have fi nished your pieces your work will be fi red and be ready for collection a few weeks later. 10am - 4pmCeramics Studio, New Brewery Arts£90 All abilities welcomenewbreweryarts.org.uk18 JAN  1 MARCHAelwydAelwyd is Welsh for hearth – a word synonymous with home. Through their material, making, story or use, the objects in this exhibition explore a deep-rooted sense of belonging and home.Fifteen makers, all from or living in Wales, create handmade items that are a pleasure to live with. Unique vessels by Deiniol Williams incorporate stones and silt collected from the Welsh landscape – so that a little piece of home becomes a defi ning part of each vessel. Llio James continues the tradition of Welsh textile design by making handwoven carthenni that are refreshingly contemporary. Household items, polished by many hands over the years, become treasured heirlooms and are documented for posterity in Sophie Schärer’s prints. And wheel-thrown tableware by James and Tilla Waters are made to be used and enjoyed as part of our daily routine.Exhibiting Artists: Claire Cawte, Sarah Christensen, Mandy Coates, Ann Catrin Evans, Rosie Farey, Helen Flynn, Astrid de Groot, Simon Hulbert, Llio James, Sophie Schärer, Mick Sheridan, James and Tilla Waters, Neil Wilkin, Deiniol Williams, Yusuke Yamamotomakersguildinwales.org.uk25 JANWest Forest Potters – Paul WearingOpen to non-members Knowl Village Hallwestforestpotters.org.uk27 JANBasic ThrowingJon French at PotclaysStoke-on-Trentpotclays.co.uk2  6 FEBSpring Fair 2020International buying showNEC Birminghamspringfair.com11  13 FEBMid/high fi re Mayco glazingThree-day workshop with Bre KathmanPotclays, Stoke-on-Trentpotclays.co.uk15 FEBSculpture: head and shouldersIn this workshop Krishna Alageswaran will show you how to make a stylised human head/bust.
