The 2015 Hornell Marching Red Raiders present: “A Pirate’s Adventure” Original Music score by Randall Standridge. Marching drill and show design by Edward Belin. In movement I, “Setting Sail”, our swashbuckling adventurers take to the high seas in search of bounty and adventure. The epic theme from the upper winds and brass gives us visions of crashing waves (represented by the guard) and distant shores. As movement II, “Mysteries of the Sea”, begins we hear the tolling of a bellaccompanied by a mournful tune. The sirens of the sea have approached ouradventurers and attempt to lure them away from their quest. As the movementprogresses we see the crew separate and almost come apart but in the end they remainunified and escape the siren’s song.Movement III, “The Battle for Gold”, begins with the epic theme reminding ouradventurers of their mission. Suddenly the tune is interrupted as another pirate crewappears to take what our sailors have found. A battle between the two forces ensues(represented by the guard and drum line). In the end our heroes sail on to adventureanother day.The 2015 Marching Red Raiders are comprised of fifty students in grades seventhrough twelve. The students elect to participate in the competitive marching activityduring the fall. This is the sixth competitive year for the group and we are lookingforward to it being our best one yet!Drum Majors for 2015 are Hannah Boone and Victoria Cramp. Color Guardinstruction and design is by Jill Egmond. The band is under the direction of EdwardBelin and Christa Fortin. Assistant director is Meghan Smith. Additional instruction isprovided by Gary Kelleher (Brass) and Samantha HerrNeckar (Percussion).Music in Motion 2015 7

-THE ORCHARD PARK HIGH SCHOOL QUAKER MARCHING BAND- The 2015 Quaker Marching Band is in its 29th year of competition in the New York State Field BandConference. The “QMB” was awarded State Championship Titles in 1987, 1993, 1997, 2000, 2001, and 2007 in various classes under the direction of creator and long time band director, Mr. Christopher Revett. This year, QMB would like to welcome their new band director Mrs. Cheri Pritchard to Orchard Park. Mrs.Pritchard is an alumnus of QMB and is excited to be back in her home district where she plans to continue the successful program already in existence! The 2015 QMB Field Show is entitled Time Flies and features the music of Gary Gilroy. Gilroy uses Dvorak’s New World Symphony to transport the audience into four distinct stages of time: The Past, Reflecting on the Past, The Present, and The Future. Time Flies is symbolic of how quickly life goes by. “It seems like only yesterday…” “Remember when…” “In the good old days…” seem to be common language throughout our everyday lives.
