A Guide on - How to Skim Coat Concrete The skim coat concrete highly used indoors and outdoors as a decorative treatment. These are highly preferred for providing clean canvas decorative treatments and with multiple patterns and colors. These are used as micro-topping applications that include slip resistance, color, and texture for providing a decorative makeover. This is a technique that is used to smooth the wall and repairing the damages. If you have some minor damages to your wall, then you can use this to turn it into a flat surface. The Process of Skim Coat Concrete The skim coat concrete can be easily applied with the help of brushes & rollers to get the desired look. It can be applied as a single coat or multi-coat for proper textured finishing. The key to giving the proper coating is preparing the perfect thickness of mixtures. So, here we outline the whole process by diving it into a few steps. 1. Make a Thin Mixer: For this, you have to start by mixing the pain mixer with the thin finish. You have to make a mixture that has a thickness of one-eighth of an inch. To make the mixture, you have to add 6.5 quarts of water with every 55-pound bag of thin. You can also add the colors as per your preference to create a base. You have to add a limited amount of color depending upon your need. First, mix the water and color, and then add a thin finish to this. You can connect with the contractor for more information. 2. Dampen the Floor: Before spreading this mixture on the floor, first, you should dampen the floor with water. You can also use a sprayer for this. By wetting the floor, you can allow the mixture to bond with the texture pave. Spray the floor with water at each time. For this, you need a helper. 3. Start with the First Layer: You should start with the first layer of thin finishing on the floor. For this, spread this with the help of a squeegee by using a smooth movement. Make sure that you have spread the mixture in an even format that looks smooth. For applying this, you should use a paintbrush or rollers so that you can reach every area and then keep it for some time to dry!

4. Prepare the Second Layer: For the second layer mixture, you need 5.5 quarts of water for the thin finish and mix the concrete with the buckets and paint mixer. In this step, you have to add colors, and the amount depends upon the depth and thickness you want. You can hire a skim coat concrete contractor and take suggestions. 5. Pre Moisten the Floor & Apply the Second Layer: For this now, you have to pre- moisten the floors before applying through a sprayer. After that, spread the mixture on the surface through sweeping motion; create a desirable texture by taking advice from the experts. If the mixture is too wet, then move the mixture until it becomes stiffer and keep it overnight before using acid stain.
