Challenges: This was a tight programme with completion targeted to coincide with an official visit by the Home Secretary. Outcome: Client pleased with how the challenges were managed and now in discussion with Mackin regarding follow on works.

Sector: Residential Client: Fast delivery of Project allows Marketing Redrow London Suite at Colindale Gardens to open on Main Contractor: time. Redrow London Scope of Works: Contract Value: £200,000 Mackin was appointed by Redrow London to complete groundwork and landscaping for its new marketing suite on the site of its £1 billion Start Date: residential development at Colindale. The project had a fast turnaround March 2016 time to meet the company s commitment to open to the public in April 2016. Finish Date: Description: April 2016 Drainage works were carried out including excavations for a 3 meter deep manhole and French drainage system. A sub base was installed and paving laid to create a pedestrian paved area and a semi-permanent car park 2 covering an area of 220m . Other site works included: Soft landscaping using 500 tonnes of imported topsoil. Soil excavations from earlier works carried out by Mackin on the client s main site were used, shortening lead times and delivering a cost saving for the client. Removal of existing hoardings and erection of new hoardings, fencing and railings around the new Marketing Suite. Challenges: Tight deadline involved weekend working to achieve the 4 week deadline. Coordinating with other trades working on the site. Outcome: Mackin received personal congratulations from the client s senior staff for completing the works in difficult circumstances in time for the official opening.

Sector: Residential Client: Enabling Works pave way for New Homes Redrow London at Colindale Gardens. Main Contractor: Redrow London Scope of Works: Enabling works were carried out to allow piling work to commence Contract Value: on new apartment blocks at Redrow s £1billion residential £450,000 development in Colindale, North London. Start Date: Description: December 2015 The work involved bulk excavation and the removal and import of Finish Date: large quantities of material to form a piling mat for 4 new apartment April 2016 3 blocks. Bulk earthworks involved digging and carting 5,500m of excavated material to stockpile (for reuse at other locations on site). 15,000 tonnes of stone was imported, levelled and compacted to form a piling mat. Other work included: Attending on piling contractors by supplying machinery, dumper operators and carting muck away from piling. Removal of disused service tunnel. This involved 4 meter deep excavation across a 65 meter length which was back- filled with 2,500 tonne of stone. Challenges: Quantity of stone imported required over 90 lorry loads per day to be planned and coordinated. Keeping ahead of piling activity to ensure the project was kept on programme. Ensuring the deep excavation dig was kept safe during removal of the service tunnel. Outcome: Works completed to client satisfaction. Mackin was subsequently awarded the tender for the Marketing Suite groundworks.

Excavation teams prepared trenches and managed carry-away of spoil; form work teams prepared shuttering to hang steel bases for docking stations. Mackin poured concrete and completed reinstatement works, including pavements for footways. A strategic sequence of works was devised and implemented by Mackin to ensure maximum efciency against a challenging programme. Challenges: Tight deadline that required between 70-80 sites to go live by October 2013. Logistical planning for the day ahead required intense use of resource with 12 or more gangs working up to 30 sites per (month). Setting up and managing sites on busy highways. Sector: Sports & Leisure Mackin contracted by Ashe to Deliver Client: Groundwork Services for a New Henlow Parish Council Community Sports Pavilion. Main Contractor: Ashe Construction Scope of Works: Contract Value: Mackin was contracted to deliver all groundwork services £100,000 above and below ground for this £750,000 community sports pavilion. Start Date: May 2014 Description: Finish Date: Excavations were carried out to create a substructure for a October 2014 new foul and storm water drainage system. Two soakaway channels were constructed each side of the building. A ground floor slab was laid and external hard landscaping completed around the building. Challenges: Working adjacent to a public park (which stayed open throughout the construction phases) required Mackin to install site security measures to safeguard public health & safety. Site deliveries had to be co-ordinated around restricted delivery times. Outcome: Mackin delivered all aspects of the groundworks on time. Sector: Education Client: Groundworks for New Facilities at a Sir Frederick Osborn Welwyn Garden City Senior School. School Main Contractor: Scope of Works: Ashe Construction Mackin was contracted to deliver the groundwork services including drainage, foundations and hard landscaping. The work was Contract Value: 2 £425,000 carried out on a 13,000m site which was an existing playing field. Start Date: Description: March 2014 4,000 tonnes of material was excavated from the site. Finish Date: A 27,000 litre rain water harvesting tank was installed. October 2014 Half a kilometre of below ground drainage was installed. 3 A 600m concrete slab (with 52 tonnes of steel reinforcement) was poured. The rain water harvesting tank was installed after the building was constructed. The challenge was to avoid undermining the foundations. A temporary ground support solution was developed which involved using a vibrational drive before you dig technique. Sector: Sports & Leisure Client: Keeping the London Games Safe Olympic Delivery Installing Airport level Security Measures Authority (ODA) on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Main Contractor: VolkerFitzpatrick Scope of Works: Contract Value: Partnering with Volker Fitzpatrick, Mackin installed security £1m measures at more than 20 key locations across the Olympic Park. Start Date: Description: August 2011 Finish Date: A temporary works area was set up on site including a December 2012 site office and goods in secured compound. Traffic and pedestrian management measures were introduced in liaison with the main contractor. Works were carried out to excavate and install : ducting for power supply; below ground high strength reinforced concrete; and foundations for security control panels. Reinstatement works included tarmac and paving. Military grade , stone filled, Hesco Barriers were installed at key locations across the Olympic Park. Challenges: Co-ordination works to ensure they did not delay other critical works occurring across the Olympic Park. Post-games Mackin decommissioned the site security measures and salvaged the normally one time use vehicle blockers, for reuse. Outcome: All works delivered on time. And salvage of the vehicle blockers saved the client a considerable sum of money.
