ENYYSA - The U.S. Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP) is a national Y.O. identification and development program for high-level players. The program identifies and develops youth players throughout the country, to represent their state Objectives association (ENYYSA), region (Region I) and the United States in soccer competitions. Week 1 The Young Olympians Program, designed specifically for boys and girls born in 2008 and 2009, provides Eastern New York’s nine affiliated youth leagues the opportunity to send its best players to train in the program, providing a connection between Eastern New York's Olympic Development Program (ODP) and the New York Red Bull Youth Programs. Kids will be selected for the multi-session program after tryouts and will wear the blue, yellow and white Eastern New York ODP uniform with a Red Bulls logo on the right sleeve. Week 2 Due to limited time with the players, we Week 3 will not focus too much on the technical Week 4 aspect. The important part of the sessions will be Phase of Play in order to develop the themes. Week 5 Week 6 Week 7 Week 8

Week 1 Topic Objectives Defending Meet players / Assess Group Ability / Assess player positions • Pressure and Cover ENYYSA - Week 2 Building out the back Basic Principles For Possession Out Of The Back Y.O. • Can our center backs (4&5) provide immediate support/depth to our goalkeeper, outside midfielders? Goal is to give us numbers up by supporting midfielders in a proper & timely fashion. Objectives • Can our 6/8/10 drop in at a proper supporting angle for our center backs (4&5) to create a shorter link from side to side? Goal is to have this player provide the pulse/rhythm of our possession. Week 1 • Can all players have correct body positioning that will enable them to see the field and as early as possible to allow us to get forward? • Can our goalkeeper (1) deliver the ball quickly, decisively and accurately as we begin the attack? Goal is to play the correct ball and be sure to offer constant support. Communication of what you see to your teammates will allow us greater success. • Can we get forward when the time is right? Whether it is early in our possession or after a number of passes, the goal is to get into that next line to expose our opponents and begin to apply pressure on them. Week 2 Week 3 Prevent Build up Coaching The Roles of Forwards, Midfielders Week 3 • How the front players channel the play • How the midfielders squeeze and pressure Week 4 Out Of The Back Into Midfield And Into Attack Week 5 Week 6 • Possession to penetrate - Simply moving the ball with perception and pace to an area of the field where we Week 7 Week 8 have either a numerical advantage (2v1, 3v2 etc.) or, a positional game related advantage. This may be individual: Our number 7 is far quicker and more able than their number 3 and is continually able to beat them or get behind them. Or, it may be a tactical advantage. Their numbers 4 and 5 are positioned too high and Week 4 Building I nto the Middle provide us with the opportunity to exploit space behind them. In a high pressure defending approach the • Possession to rest - This aspect is almost always overlooked. need to keep possession to allow our team to rest and recover is vital. We cannot possibly chase down the opposition and then continually go into a high octane penetrative attack mode for every second of a game. So, there will be times where we need to possess the ball, rest, draw the opposition in and then penetrate. This aspect also psychologically destroys the other team in that they can neither keep the ball due to the intelligent pressure and when they lose it they cannot get it back. That is incredibly frustrating to play against. Week 5 Prevent Penetration Coaching The Roles of Midfielders and Defenders • How the midfielders squeeze and pressure • How defenders combine pressure, cover and balance • The role the keeper plays in organization and cover Combination plays into the final 3rd Week 6Creating Chances and finishin••gCCooaacchhiinngg the Midfielders the forward(s) • Week 8 Week 7 Prevent Scoring Coaching The Roles of Midfielders, Defenders and Goal Keeper • How the midfielders squeeze and pressure Small Sided • How defenders combine pressure, cover and balance tournament • The role the keeper plays in organization and cover 4v4 / 5v5 (GKs)
