Cultural Understanding • Can count up to 10. • Can introduce oneself and greet others. • Can learn vocabulary such as colours, animals. • Discuss different Greek/Cypriot festivals. • Understand that Greek has a different alphabet, learn to recognise some of the letters. • Understand there are similarities and differences between Greek and British culture. Threshold Concept: MILESTONE 3 – YEAR 5 Listening Speaking • Ask and answer confidently questions: how are you? What is your name? Cultural • Can count up to 10 and identify patterns to move onto higher numbers. Understanding • Can introduce oneself and greet others. • Can learn vocabulary such as colours, animals. • Discuss different Greek/Cypriot festivals. • Understand that Greek has a different alphabet, learn to recognise some of the letters. • Understand there are similarities and differences between Greek and British culture. Speaking • Understand the ‘gist’ of new language, based on context. • Understand and respond to movement instructions. Cultural Understanding • Answer questions, including greetings, how are you today, what’s your name? • Can count to 20 and say basic colours. • Can say the days of the week, months of the year. • Can say ‘I like’ and ‘I don’t like’. • Discuss different French festivals, including Bastille Day in July. • Discuss some French traditions. • Understand there are similarities and differences between French and British cultures. • Know where French is spoken and a little about the history of France.
