Introduction In the following booklet, there is an activity for each grade 0 to 3, for the following topics: number concepts development, computation, problem solving, geometry, money, measurement, and data handling. Some activities have been given more in detail than others. This is for more clarity on how to complete them. Other activities are simple and to the point. Pictures, diagrams, and examples have been included in most of the activities. These activities have been created in such a way to be more interactive and allow learners to participate through taking part in groups and playing games. It moves away from worksheets. Most of all, I hope you and your learners will enjoy these activities. You can always replace or add a new idea to these activities. 3

Number Concepts Development Grade 0 Subitising / estimating (Plants as Living things) 1.Go outside of the classroom with the learners. 2.Introduce the topic of plants and have a 2-minute discussion. 3.Give learners 5 minute to gather 3 leaves of their choices. Make it a race to see who can bring 6 perfectly plucked leaves. As soon as they’re done, they must come sit in their appropriate line. Boys in the boy’s line and girls in the girls’ line. 4.Once everyone is in their lines, we all go back to class. 5.Ask how many leaves they see in front of them. 6.Count the leaves they have in front of them. 7.They can draw their six leaves, labelling the leaves 1 up to 6. 1 2 34 56 4

Problem solving Grade: 0 Division 1.Paula bought 8 tomato seeds. She planted 2 equal rows in the garden. How many tomato plants are in each row? 2.Jason’s mom baked 6 cookies. She gave each of Jason’s friends 2 cookies. How many friends of Jason got cookies? 3.Mark has 10 toy cars. He divides his cars into 2 boxes. How many cars are in each box? 4.Mavis owes Reatha 6 dollars. If Mavis pays Reatha 1 dollar a day , how many days will it take Mavis to pay Reatha? 5.Johanna bought a pack of 8 cookies. She shares it equally amongst her 3 friends. How many cookies did each friend got? 5
