However, due to the current pandemic and the regulations set in place the letter reads as follows: Dear members, Following a meeting of the Officer Board today, a decision was taken that all National Juvenile Championships and Competitions for the remainder of 2020 will now be cancelled. This includes the National Junior competition and the National Boy\/Girl 1, 2 and 3 Championships. The decision was not taken lightly and following consultation with various stakeholders, the Health and Safety of our juvenile members was paramount, and hence the cancellation. The National U-22's, which cater for adult boxers, will still provisionally go ahead, starting on November 6th. The National Elite Championships will take place from 11th - 15th January, 2021 and hopefully if the Covid-19 virus has been curtailed, we can then get back to a 'normal' calendar of boxing. On the small pitch at the forum both sides battled hard for supremacy early on with little in the way of goal mouth action with defences on top. Thistle grew into the game as Antrim say back letting them have the majority of the ball. The deadlock was broken on 30 minutes when Alan Moore unleashed a right foot drive which found the net off the post to give his side the lead. Antrim were rocked after this as Thistle looked hungry for more goals but good defended kept the ever dangerous Randal Reid at bay. Jordan McKelvey for Antrim was their main threat but poor decision making in the final third cost him on a few occasions as the home side trailed at the break. The second half started with Thistle doubling their lead not long after the restart. Randal Reid got free in the box and made no mistake drilling past the Antrim keeper. This goal looked like it signalled the end of the fight in Antrim but an enforced change say the introduction of Ryan McAuley and he injected some energy into the team. On the hour mark Antrim got a goal back when substitute Shane Donnelly crossed for fellow sub Ryan McAuley to head home and breath life into his side.","Add Less than five minutes later the game was level when Pearse McAuley and Shane Donnelly combined well in the edge of the box for the latter to curl a low effort in off the far post to make it 2-2. Antrim looked like the hungrier team now but Thistle regrouped and regained their composure in the game. Chances were few and far between at either end as both side struggled to get the fifth goal. The all important next goal came 11 minutes from time when Peter Kennoway and Paul Aiken combined on the right for Kennoway to break into the box and his low cross was turned into his own net by an Antrim defender. Minutes later Antrim's cause was made even harder when they were reduced to 10 men. Thistle killed the game off with six minutes to go when Paul Aiken was played in down the right and he drilled the ball across for Randal Reid to beat his marker at the near post to score and seal an opening day victory for Thistle. Clough Rangers 3 Carniny Amateur & Youth 5 Both these sides struggled towards the bottom of Division One last season and on the opening day it was Carniny who laid down a marker of a better season as they edged out Clough in this eight goal thriller. In this game out in Clough it was the visitors who had the worst start when only after one minute Costello from Carniny gave away a penalty which Neil Weir stepped up to convert to open the scoring. Only eleven minutes later Adam Mooney lobbed a speculative ball into the Clough box which caught out the keeper as he could only watch it go over his head as he backtracked towards his goal colliding with his post in the process. Carniny then took hold of the game and on 27 minutes Dawid Lallowski played a through ball to Aidan Scullion down the right who cut in and curled an unstoppable shot into the top right hand corner to give the visitors the lead. After this Clough were forced to swap out their keeper and Barry Simpson also saw his free kick hit off the post. Four minutes later Scullion was played in by Simpson who scored again for his second of the game, 3-1 to Carniny at the break. One minute into the second half Mooney crossed in from the right hand side of the box with the ball by passing the Clough defence with Gaz McMeekin scoring from close range.","Mooney and McMeekin combined again shortly after with the latter's shot just going outside the Clough post. Clough tried to get back into the game as they forced a few set pieces with Ryan Fleming causing some problems for the visitors down the right flank and they got their reward when Joshua Courtney scored to reduce the deficit. Carniny hit straight back one minute later with Scullion turning provider as he cut the ball back from the left goal line for McMeekin to score his second and Carniny's fifth. Carniny soaked up some pressure at the end with Clough scoring the final goal of the game on 86 minutes with Ryan Fleming after Carniny failed to 'clear their lines' but the Reds saw out the game to the final whistle with no more goals from either team. Abbeyview 6 Connor FC 1 Abbeyview started this match on the front foot with plenty of energy putting the Connor players under pressure. On four minutes a long pass over the left back by Grant Simpson sent new signing Reece Sloan away who cut in and squared the ball across for Nathan Wilson to tap into an empty net. Just five minutes later it was 2-0 when a corner fell to Sam Walsh who forced the keeper into a great save with Nathan Wilson pouncing on the rebound to finish. It was 3-0 after half an hour when Nathan Wilson completed his hat trick when he was sent through by Sam Walsh and finished in off the far post. Connor pulled a goal back just before the half when Mark McKelvey put away a penalty after a handball. Abbeyview started the second half of on the front foot once more and only took three minutes to get their fourth with Reece Sloan cutting in from the right and placing a shot into the top corner with his weak foot. Ten minutes later Abbeyview made it 5 when Reece Sloane fired another cross in for Glenn Vance to finish it off. It wasn\u2019t until 10 minutes from the end when a free kick from Alan Cochrane was passed down the side of the wall for Ian Brownlees to square across the box for Jack Armstrong to chest home and complete the rout for Abbeyview.","FIRMUS B S M L DIV 2 & 3 REVIEW Firmus Energy BSML Division Two Newpark Olympic 1 Ruby\u2019s Rovers 2 Both these sides will be hoping to fight out promotion in Division Two this season, but on the opening day in horrible conditions Ruby\u2019s came from behind to edge out the three points. Both sides struggled to gain supremacy in the first half with the weather causing havoc with little in the way of any goalmouth action at either end. The second half saw the home side come out on the front foot and on 20 minutes in they made their pressure count when Tommy Moffett got free to fire his side into the lead. Newpark were on top now but the Larne men weathered the storm and 10 minutes from time they were back in the game when a goalbound effort from Craig Cowie was kept out of the net by the hand of Jonathan Hunter who received his marching orders and a spot kick awarded for Ruby\u2019s. Paul McCann stepped up and made no mistake to draw his side level. Seven minutes later it was Ruby\u2019s in front when a Derek McMullan cross was turned into the net by talisman Paul McCann to the delight of the Ruby\u2019s bench as they held out for a brilliant opening day win.","Firmus Energy BSML Div 3 Seven Towers 4 Holywell 1 After missing out on promotion to Division Two when the season was curtailed in March, Towers will be hoping to seal the deal this year and got off to a good start when they turned in a great second half performance to get off to a winning stat.In a cagey start it was Holywell who gained the upper hand as they pegged Towers back, but the Towers defence held strong. Towers were forced into a change when Thomas Brady limped off injured, but his replacement Declan McKee made an immediate impact as he gave Towers the lead following up a Darren Burgoyne shot to make it 1-0. Five minutes before the break when Craig Larkin was fouled and David Thompson stepped up but Towers debutant Sean Ward made a brilliant save. Holywell did draw level before the break though when David Thompson pounced on a poor back pass to lob home the equaliser and make up for his penalty miss. Towers were forced into a change of shape at the break due to injury with Chris Graham and Ross Hunter now on the wings and both scored within minutes of each other to put Towers in control. Graham finishing from 18 yards into the top corner and Hunter latching on to through ball to race clear and finish well. Darren Burgoyne then got fourth driving into box and finishing calmly. Holywell failed to convert another late penalty as Towers seen out the game to win more convincingly than their performance merited.","THE KIOSK NEWSAGENTS CONFECTIONARY SCRATCHCARDS CO ANTRIM SHEILD Toals Junior Shield Round 1 - Saturday, October 31, 2020 CARNLOUGH SWIFTS FOOTBALL CLUB V LOWER SHANKILL FC PORTAVOGIE RANGERS FOOTBALL CLUB V AHOGHILL FC BANGOR RESERVES V WAVENEY SWIFTS FOOTBALL CLUB RED STAR CARRICKFERGUS V FC MOYLENA CULLYBACKEY BLUES FC V NEWHILL FC WAKEHURST YOUTH V BALLYNAHINCH YOUNG MEN WOODSIDE FC V ARDS RANGERS II's TOLLYMORE UNITED V BRAID UNITED SAINTFIELD UNITED 2ND XI V STEADFAST FOOTBALL CLUB FC PENAROL V TULLYMORE SWIFTS FC CONNOR FC V CROSSCOLLYER YMFC HARRYVILLE HOMERS V GROOMSPORT FC 1STS ST JAMES SWIFTS RESERVES V RIVERDALE FOOTBALL CLUB AHOGHILL THISTLE FC V CASTLEWELLAN TOWN FC GROVE UNITED II V CARNINY AMATEUR AND YOUTH FC BALNAMORE FC V RANDALSTOWN FC GREENISLAND FC Res V RUBYS ROVERS 1st Rd Byes : Raceview, Clough, Cloughmills, North Ballymena Rangers, Michelin, Abbeyview and Southside Rangers.","LEGENDS SERIES This weeks legend is a man who when playing in the BSML was respected by everyone. Stephen \\\"Crow\\\" McCrory a Wakehurst lad, was farmed through the line at the old club from boot boy to midfleider in a great side in the early 80s. Crow also played for a great Homers side and held his position on the field for many years when some absolutely cracking players would fill roles alongside him, such was Stephen capability. A great reader of a game as well as a pass that was as reliable as milk on the doorstep, Crow was a valuable member of what ever team he ever played for. Stephen, like all Harryville men in their day, could also tackle, however, one thing which was always gauranteed with \\\"The Crow\\\" was 100% effort. Since the early 80s Billy O'FLaherty has been taking to so with running football teams and the setting up of many initiatives that has reaped the representation of thousands of kids in the local area come through to fruition of being better footballers and most importantly better lads in life. However, Billy was a major player also in the 70s when playing in the BSML for Ballee who were formed in the later part of that decade. Though Billy was a man always of great interest in the local youth footballing fraternity, he was a major catalyst in the change in format of how local youth football was designed to be more creative and was indeed a major playmaker in the formation of what has now become an institution at Carniny Youth Academy. \\\"Billy O,\\\" in all of his mite, was always able to strike a great bargain with sponsors due to the respect the man is held within the local community for his life's endeavours, created at Carniny Youth an extremely sustainable model for others to look at, take heed from and learn from which has of course leant it's hand to the formation of other models similar not only in the town but across the county and the country for that matter. Carniny Youth do not just celebrate the 60th birthday of a man this week, they celebrate the 60th birthday of the creator of what has come on to be a pioneer in local youth footballing performance centres that is at the crust of the local community as year and will be for many decades to come. The Sky Blues started brightly and took the lead mid way through the first half when Nikki McKendry, whose strength and skill caused problems for the opposition all night, won and converted a penalty. The lead didn\u2019t last however and Ambassadors equalised 5 minutes later through a set piece from a corner. Ten minutes in to the second half Ambassadors took the lead but United continued to work hard and were desperately unlucky not to equalise through an excellent Niamh McGaughey strike, the ball hitting the bar. They again went agonisingly close when a strong Nicky Stevenson effort was cleared off the line. Instead it was Ambassadors who scored the next and final goal of the game with good work down the right finding the striker who was able to find the back of the net.
