NAWAZ SHARIF IS COMING BACK? AFNAN MALIK Sometimes it comes to mind, we are also there, please, how? No, Ishaq Dar was forced to go out of the country by making very false accusations to erase his fear. He has also been entrusted with the post of Finance Ministry. With the news of Ishaq Dar's return home, the value of the dollar began to fall and by the time he was sworn in as a minister, the price of the dollar had fallen by Rs 15 in the open market. It is hoped that Ishaq Dar will fulfill the expectations of the people and the previous traditions will be able to provide relief to the common man by controlling the dollar on a permanent basis while maintaining But the question is who brought the country's economy to this state? Journalism students like me also knew that the country's economy is stuck in the vortex, only one person can take it out of trouble and his name is Ishaq Dar I tried many times to draw attention to this in my columns, but our kind and generous people wanted to take the credit for fixing the economy and improve their image, so Miftah Ismail was made the finance minister to achieve this goal. Former Prime Minister and leader of Muslim League (N) Mian Nawaz Sharif was unanimous that this mess cannot be cleared without the return of Ishaq Dar, but he was not getting clearance for his return. He was in a state where he neither hides nor comes forward. When it came to return, it was said that we will not be an obstacle, but the courts will decide 4

on legal matters. Ishaq Dar rightly wanted to pave the way for him to come to Pakistan just as a false case was made against him by applying pressure. Many times the return of Ishaq Dar was announced but it could not be implemented as the former finance minister wanted to return home in an honorable manner. According to the law, when an accused is advocating and absconding, no relief can be given to him until he surrenders. This meant that Ishaq Dar should return to Pakistan and present his arrest first and then approach the court for bail. showed tolerance for the fact that it might result in some flexibility from the other side. Then another precedent came forward. Major (retd) Kamran Kayani, brother of former Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, who was absconding in the DHA City scandal, returned to Pakistan on September 1, but his arrest was not executed and the courts Relief was provided to them. On the other hand, our benefactors were clinging to the hope that when the IMF installment comes, all the difficulties will be resolved. The dollar will fall below the threshold, the value of the rupee will be stabilized, and thus the credit for the recovery of the economy can be taken by holding the hand of mercy on Miftah Ismail, but the situation went from bad to worse. The installment of the IMF and friendly countries Despite receiving aid, the dollar continued to appreciate and reached the highest level in the country's history. When all hope died, Ishaq Dar was given the green signal to return. It was decided that the appeal filed by Ishaq Dar in the Supreme Court should be withdrawn so that the matter can be dealt with at the accountability court level. Thus, Ishaq Dar, who arrived in Dushanbe on the Prime Minister's special plane to participate in the 16th Ministerial Conference of Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation on October 27, 2017, returned to Pakistan in the Pakistan Air Force's special plane used for the Prime Minister under the same protocol. Those who showed determination to block the path of Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Captain Safdar are being honorably acquitted by the Islamabad High Court, former Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif is returning very soon, he will face cases on his return home but he will not be arrested. Tehreek-e-Insaaf’s government is going to end in Punjab and Azad Kashmir, maybe PTI will be wiped out in Baluchistan too because there is going to be a political alliance between “BAP\" (Balochistan Awami Party) and JUI(F). But the most important question is that our benevolent and benevolent people are still considered by the masses to be the Messiah and savior, have they learned any lesson as a result of this experience? There is nothing to learn from the history of and continue to experiment. 5

Many of the films that have been released have failed, but the way the proud offer introduced in the name of New Pakistan has failed, I strongly request that this production house should be closed after that. Political stability is needed to revive the economy, this country cannot afford more experiments. . IMRAN KHAN’S GAME ASAD HAYAT KHAN Allah is right, there is humiliation and disgrace in the fate of lies. Imran Khan: \"Don't take America's name, it's just playing a game.”. Imran Khan's game is open. Shahbaz Sharif's two international visits, dozens of meetings including American, Russian and Chinese leaders, bilateral talks, were shocked. Imran Khan is not happy at all, 70 years old, impersonation, insults, lies, the cynical attempt to make a good impression has failed. For a long time, the belief, the country and the nation trapped in the vortex of political instability, in the world of knowledge, countless. For example, countries and nations dissolve. I have been constantly complaining that the economic crisis, administrative failure, diplomatic isolation and social degradation are the logical result of the strategy and hard work that pushed the 6

dear country towards political instability for the last 8 years. For the last 6 months, Imran Khan's \"impression of popularity\" has taken the country of God gifted in its grip. Opposing political forces are busy trying to get the country out of the crisis or fixing personal internal affairs, the political field is open for Imran Khan, he is walking alone. Imran Khan led the anti- government movement in such a way that he kept his blessed self-free from every law, constitution and moral code. It was seven months ago that Imran Khan was in politics, while Nawaz Sharif's politics had broken all records of popularity. Members of Parliament belonging to Tehreek-e-Insaf lined up, eager to get the ticket of Muslim League-N, were fighting head-to-head. As of now, Tehreek-e-Insaf was defeated by Muslim League-N in Nowshera, and in all the by-elections, Tehreek-e-Insaf was defeated by Muslim League-N. Justice had to be eaten. Show may fate, no-confidence motion proved to be a weak strategy. Imran's lifeless politics got life. Today, PML-N's return to popularity has been linked to Imran Khan's mistakes and cases. The current politics of Imran Khan is divided into three phases. Immediately after the Prime Minister lost his hands, the first phase introduced a new political narrative, under the guise of demand, an immediate election was needed. Those who want to believe it are under the pressure of a new narrative. Kudos to the current government. They said that those who brought them were traitors, Mir Jafar Narrative, slaves of America. Today, the audio leaks in the conversation between Imran Khan and Azam Khan told him that it was a game that was played with the ill-fated nation. The fabricated narrative of the imported government was proved to be a lie today, shamed by Allah. A time when this narrative proved to be the antidote. Imran Khan's false promises for the 2018 election, three and a half years of poor performance have all gone behind the curtain. The debate was like this, is Imran Khan's narrative true or false? Imran Khan held about three dozen jalsa from Peshawar to Karachi for the editing, of this narrative. People's spirit of freedom was raised, immediate elections were required. He said whatever came to his mouth, he did not hesitate to make public criticism of the establishment. On May 25 marched on Islamabad. Despite all the resources of the KP government, public support, when they reached Islamabad on the morning of May 26, \"The merchants had no goods\". Failed. 7

The Islamic touch, hypocrisy, lies were all there, the despair of the workers was palpable. After the next six days, even the consolation of coming did not work. There was mourning in the ranks of Tehreek-e-Insaf. The first step was a failure. It was also recorded that the storm of the social media bowl, the performance in the field of action was not good. The failed march of 26th May gave a new high to the morale of the government and the establishment. The failure of May 25 has given the government a new wave. The imported government's hashtag, \"Arslan son of treason is driving the trend\" and the audio leaks on today's post, shame on Imran Khan. The dream of a quick election was shattered. The opposition seized the opportunity, carried out drastic economic reforms, and the government was forced to take tough decisions. Back-breaking storm of inflation, heavy political price had to be paid. Imran Khan found his porridge in inflation. The second phase began with the establishment of political order under the guise of inflation. The storm of inflation doubled and quadrupled the anger against the government. Imran Khan's impressive victory in the by-elections, inflationary disasters have significantly increased the current popularity of Imran Khan. During this period, don't forget to find new ways to communicate with the establishment. 8

MONETARY POLICY MUHAMMAD BILAL 9

THE State Bank’s decision to hike its key policy rate by 100 basis points to a 24-year high of 16pc, after maintaining the status quo in its last two monetary policy committee meetings in August and October, is a step in the right direction, even if intended to appease the IMF. Indeed, the bank has taken the market by surprise; few expected it to boost the borrowing cost, especially with Ishaq Dar, a proponent of low interest rates and a stronger home currency, heading the finance ministry. This shows that both the ministry and central bank must be coming to heel after the IMF twice cancelled the discussion over its ninth programme performance review, delaying the disbursement of its next loan tranche of over $1bn because of Pakistan’s reluctance to implement the reforms agreed on. A statement after the MPC meeting on Friday said the decision was aimed at ensuring that elevated inflation doesn’t become entrenched. The rate increase was also required in view of continued slippages on the fiscal side, particularly after the floods that are said to have caused damage and losses to the tune of $30bn. Even though the SBP governor hinted at halting the rate hike, the revised inflation forecast of 21pc-23pc for the present fiscal, because of stronger than-anticipated inflationary pressures, shows the bank is still behind the curve. Faced with an unprecedented external crisis over diminishing foreign exchange reserves and drying dollar inflows, as well as a weakening fiscal position, the government has failed to contain inflation and domestic demand, in spite of severely restricting imports. The rupee has weakened, the narrowing of the current account notwithstanding. Negative interest rates are a major reason for soaring prices and a weakening rupee; according to the MPC, global and domestic supply shocks, which are raising costs amid the economic slowdown, are spilling over into broader prices and wages, driving cost-push inflation. The hike in borrowing costs should not only target inflation, currently led by negative real interest rates, but also send a strong signal to the government to change its reckless fiscal course and control its spending. However, monetary tightening alone cannot contain inflation that has devastated millions of households over the last few years. The fiscal authorities must play their part — as the SBP has stressed in its monetary policy statement — by “maintaining fiscal discipline ... to complement monetary tightening, which would together help prevent an entrenchment of inflation and lower external vulnerabilities”. The question is: if the finance ministry will respond to the bank’s counsel. With crucial foreign inflows drying up in the wake of IMF review delays, chances are the bank’s move will ward off further deterioration in the balance-of-payments position. If fiscal slippages continue, the SBP would be well advised to hike the rates more aggressively to ensure the ministry falls in line. There’s no other option left now. 10

2022 FASHION TRENDS: HANIA AKHTAR The biggest fashion trends of 2022 are making us dress (and feel) the same way we did in 2000. This year we had Y2K Haze (hello, low-rise pants!), but there's no confusion as to which trends are in the spotlight, from corsets to 'core' choices to cleavage. was wearing, but everything is back. Of course, there's no reason to stick to the fashion set's style rules - dress the way you want... but hear us out. We'd be remiss if we didn't mention how fun it was to discuss which trends were approved for 2022. Let's pretend it's the 2000s again. There's no denying that the early 2000s had some iconic fashion moments. Celebrities such as Dua Lipa and Bella Hadid are pushing for a revival of baby tees and low-rise jeans. Indeed, it is very attractive. Here are some fashion trends to watch in 2022. Let's take a quick look - Ballet core: skin-fitting leotards paired with airy tulle skirts, cropped wraparound sweaters, posh minis! From stage to street, trendsetter Bella Hadid rocked her ballet core this summer in a vintage Chanel dress, beige leg warmers and baby blue ballet flats. - Corsets: Of course, corsets bring back sexiness this year. Among the top trends for 2022, we've seen corsets in all shapes and sizes everywhere: satin, sparkly, strapless, etc. Billie Eilish stole the red carpet at the Met Gala in an upcycled satin Gucci corset dress. 13

- Cutouts: What they say is true: sometimes less is more, and the cut-out trend is full proof. The trend has made a comeback and made headlines with repeated iterations. - Goth: Back to black, corsets, leather, and lace, the goth trend has resurfaced in glamorous darkness this year. one of this year's hottest Netflix series Wednesday is on trend with the \"goth-girl\" aesthetic via the main character, Wednesday Addams, played by Jenna Ortega. Wednesday's dramatic and moody ensemble usually consists of a monochromatic collared blouse, lace tights, and platform slippers. - Low rise and unbuttoned jeans: Unbothered and unconventional! Defines the “unbuttoned jeans” trend best. The trend has been in existence since 2000’s. when young celebrities flaunted the style for the world to sit up and take notice. 14

- Oversized suits: This trend has been going on for decades, but 2022 saw a big comeback (literally). Some of the brands that have introduced oversized suits to their collections this year include classic and sophisticated Burberry and sleek, casual and cosmopolitan Boss. The trend also picked up when Justin Bieber showed up at the Grammys in his gray Balenciaga oversized two-piece suit. - Vintage: History fashion repeats itself. Vintage never goes out of fashion, as most trends find a way back. Vintage shopping is becoming more and more popular given the socio-political climate and the industry's move to become more sustainable. -Gender neutral fashion: Fashion icons such as Harry Styles, Lil Nas X, Kid Cudi and Jaden Smith have all recently had notable gender- neutral moments that have helped challenge gender norms and the discussion surrounding genderless fashion. Includes cargo pants, earthly tones, layering, oversized clothes, neon colors. 15

WORST-DRESSED PAKISTANI CELEBRITIES- 2022 ANAYAH SHAHID Pakistani celebrities always try to look stunning on the red carpet but sometimes they face criticism and backlash for wearing revealing clothes. Pakistani showbiz industry is known for its glitz and glamour. Some actors and actresses don’t care what people say and experiment new looks, which are impressive most of the times. However, for some odd reasons, whenever there’s an award show, the designers and makeup artists tend to disappoint us. Here are some of the looks from 2022 that were a total death of style. 1. DUR E FISHAN 16

Dur e fishan who is currently known for her trending drama “kesi teri khudgharzi” appeared at LSA in a simple long shirt with a dupatta look. The plain outfit and boring hair did her no favors and instead made her look older! 2- SACHAL AFZAL If “mera kurta hay japani, ye patloon englistaani” had a face it would be Sachal. He came to the red carpet dressed as as an army captain crossed with a Chinese masseuse. 17

3- MERUB ALI Merub is a sweetheart but this time her look didn’t sit well. She was wearing an open shirt with a collar on neck and bell bottom. The cut made her look even thinner and was a big Thumbs down! 4- DANANEER MOBEEN The famous “party horahi hai” girl appeared on the red carpet in a very poorly fitted dress. Her hands were in the pockets in almost every picture and she was posing awkwardly with zero expressions on her face. Her complete look wasn’t very impressive. The hair and makeup was also very basic. She could’ve played more with some accessories. 18

5- AYEZA KHAN Ayeza khan wore a lehanga on an award show that goes very off from the event. The dupatta was just hanging on her shoulders. It seemed like she was coming from a valima event. The sleek hair didn’t go well with the look either! FASHION BRANDS PAVING WAY FOR GREEN PAKISTAN EISHA SHAHZAD Sustainable fashion is becoming a popular trend in the fashion industry with every passing day. It is a means through which brands create clothing which reduces the negative impact on the environment. Moreover, it is also mindful of the people who take part in the manufacturing phase. 19

In short, it is a fashion which is ethically made and eco-friendly. That’s why it is also known as eco fashion. With the rapid increase in environmental consciousness in recent years, many fashion brands in Pakistan are adopting ways to create a greener Pakistan. Although, there is lack of awareness about green marketing in Pakistan but good thing is that we have taken the initial steps. Following are the brands that are leading the movement for sustainable fashion in Pakistan; 1. Sapphire Sapphire has always been a frontrunner in envisioning and implementing better practices in their business. It has introduced an umbrella campaign-Little by Little in the past which aimed at reducing plastic waste by replacing usual bags with their biodegradable and eco-friendly ones. Recently, they have launched another campaign, Revive the Thread, which encourages people to donate their used, unwanted, discarded, old fabric, linen or any other piece of clothing. Sapphire recycles these fabrics and gives them a new meaning. Furthermore, sapphire has also pledged to recycle 40% of their fashion waste by 2025. 2. Fnk Asia 20

FASHION TRENDS AMONG COLLEGE STUDENTS EMAAN FARAH What's trending among college students these days? A style or activity that is now popular is referred to as being in fashion. Any reference to \"fashion\" refers to the way that a person is currently dressing and looking. Fashion does not necessarily mean wearing costly, contemporary, and attractive clothing. Fashion is an appearance, a make, and a style. So, whatever one is wearing must be appropriate for him. Fashion is not about dressing like other people. The only requirement is that the clothing precisely matches the wearer's personality. They engage in it in an effort to look fashionable, relevant, and attractive. Being trendy involves adapting current trends to fit your style, personality, and status as a student rather than slavishly adhering to them. Your outer self is reflected in what you choose to wear. Additionally, your clothing must reflect the authentic you while adding a dash of elegance and sophistication. There are several things to take into account when dressing for college, university, etc. For many students, maintaining comfort while exhibiting their unique sense of style is crucial. Due to the stress of student life, comfort will take priority over fashion more often than not. On campus, students can be fashion icons. The norms on how students dress differ from campus to campus. College students have a lot of freedom and options when it comes to fashion. You can be anything and everything, from the most conservative outfit to the most outlandish look. You can experiment with different styles, colors, and types of clothing. However, there are some things that you should consider before making a purchase or even wearing something new. There are so many different styles out there now that it can be hard to know where to start or what to wear on any given day. You need something that works for all kinds of occasions, but also fits in with your personal style. That means finding pieces that are versatile enough for formal events as well as casual wear around campus. This article will cover some of the most popular trends among college students today! 1. Eastern wear Kurtis is still a very popular choice for women on campus. They can be casual or formal depending on the occasion, but most of all dresses are versatile and can be paired with different shoes and accessories for multiple looks. 24

25

2. Jeans Jeans have always been a staple in every girl's wardrobe, but now they're even more popular as an option for women in their twenties than ever before because jeans are so comfortable and flattering on any body type! They're also easy enough to work into any outfit so you don't need an entire closet full of them just because they're such an essential part of any wardrobe—keep it simple with one pair at a time! 3. T-shirts The graphic t-shirt/tee shirt combo (or “Tee”). A classic combination that has been around since forever, but more popular now than ever with everyone. 4. Colourful Clothing: A lot of people choose to wear colorful clothing because they think it makes them stand out from their peers. But this is not necessarily true! People who wear bright colors may not be as white for college as those who choose more neutral tones. The reason why are that brighter colors will make you stand out even more than if you were wearing darker shades of clothing! The color theory says that darker colors make us blend into our surroundings better than lighter ones do (because they're less noticeable on camera). This means that if you want people to notice your outfits more often when you wear bright colors then maybe it's time to rethink what kind of clothes you're wearing! 5. Vintage The trend has taken over the fashion world. This trend is all about embracing the past and bringing it back, which is why we're seeing so many vintage pieces in the college crowd. 26

6. Minimalist The \"minimalist\" trend is showing up more often on campus as well, but not just because it's a good look for any age; this style is also becoming popular because of its ability to be worn anywhere, and by anyone—you don't need to be rich or famous to pull off this look! 7. Black It is still a big deal on campus, but now it's being paired with other colors, like orange or yellow, instead of just being worn alone. This means you can be trendy and still feel yourself in all those throwback photos from your childhood! 8. The cape The cape is a classic that never goes out of style. It can be worn by men and women alike, and it will never lose its elegance or charm. It can be used to cover up a simple outfit or create an entire look, depending on how you wear it. 27

9. The denim jackets The denim jacket is one of the most recognizable pieces of clothing for college students today because it’s functional and affordable at the same time! It’s a great way to stay warm during cold weather or keep cool during hot weather by wearing layers underneath instead of over your clothes like a heavy jacket would do when outside without air conditioning on campus or in your dorm room all summer long! 10. Mohawk haircuts Mohawks have been gaining popularity among college students, and they've been making it easier than ever to get one with the advent of Mohawk hair extensions. The best part is that the trend isn't just limited to men—it's happening in women's hair as well! 11. Statement Jewelry Statement jewelry has always been popular on runways and in magazines, but now it's being worn by more people than ever before—including college students! This trend is especially popular among female students who want to show off their individuality while looking stylish at the same time. 12. Athleisure wear: College students are always on the lookout for the latest trends in fashion. And with so many new companies popping up all over the place, it can be hard to keep up. But one trend that seems to be gaining traction among college students is the rise of athleisure wear—the combination of activewear and sportswear. This means that the clothes you wear while running around campus and going to class don't have to look like they were purchased at your local store. There's no doubt that athleisure wear has been around for a while now, but it's only recently become increasingly popular as more people realize just how comfortable and functional these kinds of pieces are for 28

people who exercise regularly or play sports on a regular basis. Athleisure clothing can be found in virtually every color, size, and fabric imaginable—so finding something that fits your needs is easier than ever before! Pakistan's Road to Final was sort of a rollercoaster ride. They played really well against India in the first match. Batting first after losing the toss, Pakistan’s batting line-up was shaken to death as they lost their most important wickets in the power play. Captain Babar Azam departed without scoring any runs while Muhammad Rizwan struggled to middle the bat and end up handing over the wicket in the 4th over. Shan Masood and Iftikhar Ahmad helped Pakistan reach a defendable total. In return, Pakistan's pace attack took 4 important Indian wickets but Virat Kohli remained on the crease and turned the whole game around for India. After Losing the first Match, Pakistan Lost the 2nd match against Zimbabwe but managed to win the next three games. And ended up being in the semi-final against New Zealand whom they had just defeated in the tri-series final just before the world cup and then won again by seven Wickets. Both the openers were seen to be back in touch after being hopeless in the whole tournament. Dreams fell apart for Pakistan in the final as England was successful in executing their plan. Batting first, Pakistan was going steadily until the 11th over. But everything fell apart as the England bowlers made an excellent comeback to restrict them to a total of 137/8. Taking six wickets for 53 runs in the last 9 overs. Pakistan claimed three England wickets in the powerplay while defending their total of 137 but they conceded 49 valuable runs at the same time. In low-scoring matches, the defending team not only needs to pick up wickets but also needs to keep the runs in check. While Babar Azam's men ticked the wickets' column, they couldn't control the flow of runs. Hence England chased down the target with five wickets in hand and one over remaining. 38

FIFA World Cup 2022 QATAR UMAR FAZAL The FIFA world cup 2022 Qatar was the 22nd version of this historical and prestigious football tournament. Previously this event has been hosted by several great nations with a passion for football such as Brazil, Germany, France, United States of America, Italy etc. FIFA World cup is the biggest sporting event on earth. The first edition was held back in 1930. It was hosted by Uruguay and won by Uruguay. Since then, Brazil has won the most World cups in history (5) followed by Italy and Germany who has (4). The reason why this World cup was different than any others in the past is that for the first time it was held and hosted by a Muslim country Qatar. The government of Qatar spent billions of dollars for the renovation of the country for this event as football is the most popular sport on earth having nearly 3.5 billion viewership which is literally half of the population of the earth. The fans of the respective countries showed up in numbers as expected from across the globe to show support and love to their nations. 43

The opening ceremony of the world cup was a historical one as it featured some of the most famous celebrities around the world such as Hollywood star “Morgan Freeman” and the famous singer form south Korea “Jungkook”. The organizers did a great job performing the ceremony. They started with the recitation of the Quran and its translation to tell the world about their culture and religion and how it reflects nothing but peace. Qatar did an incredible job at preaching Islam through this world cup by making prayer spots in every stadium. They also imposed strict restrictions on stuff that is against the ethics and morals of Islam like consuming alcohol during the games etc. The countries that participated in the world cup showed respect by following the rules implemented by the Qatari government. Some people around the world protested the rules of this world as they were thought to be offensive towards different communities of the world such as the LGBTQ community as homosexuality is an offence in Islam and there were to be strict actions against people engaging in such behaviour inside the country. Germany was the country who protested openly throughout the world cup. But it did not have an effect as the president of FIFA himself stated that it is our responsibility to show respect to the country, we are organizing the event in. 44

The World cup 2022 was by far the most thrilling and entertaining World cup in history. Some of the dark horses shocked the world with their performances. From Saudi Arabia beating the world cup favourites Argentina in their first group stage game or Japan topping their respective group by beating both Spain and Germany to Morocco becoming the first Muslim and African country to reach the semi-finals, this world cup gave us surprises that weren’t ready for. The biggest footballing icons from across the world went to Qatar to watch their teams. This world cup was the last one for two of the best football players in the world right now and arguably two of the Greatest football players to ever step on the pitch. The Argentine magician Lionel Messi and the Portuguese Monster Cristiano Ronaldo. They have a huge fan base around the world and most of the fans wanted one of them to win it for their country. After a series of thrilling and nail-biting fixtures, Argentina and France reached the final of the FIFA World cup 2022. The contest ended in a 3-3 draw in which Messi scored two goals for Argentina and Mbappe scored a hat trick for France and became the first player in history to score a hat trick in a world cup final. The game was decided by penalties. Argentina won it by 4-2 as their Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez saved two of France’s penalties. It was by far the best final in the history of world cups and Argentina finally lifted the trophy on the 18th of December 2022. Lionel Messi was named the player of the tournament having 7 goals and 3 assists in 7 games and 5 Man of the match awards. The 23-year-old Frenchman Kylian Mbappe won the golden boot award (Top scorer of the tournament) with 8 goals in 7 games. In my opinion, the 2022 edition of FIFA world cup will go down as the greatest in its 92 years history. The selection of Qatar as the host country was controversial. The controversies surrounding the world cup in Qatar were described as a cultural conflict or “clash of civilizations” between Islamic and secular democratic countries. But Qatar did and exceptional 45

job at hosting the event in the best way possible while sticking to their rules showing the world that Football is about bringing the people of the world together to harmony and peace. 46

ANDERSON SUGGESTS ENGLAND’S AGGRESSION CAN POSE AUSTRALIA PROBLEMS IN ASHES MIRZA SHOAIB • I’m sure they’ll try to come back just as hard as they can’ • Anderson sits out third Test in Pakistan with series won Jimmy Anderson fancies England new brave and willing to take risky approach under Ben Stoke and Brendon McCullum may force Australia to rethink their plans ahead of next summer much-anticipated ashes series. The 40-year-old has been rested for the third Test against Pakistan in Karachi that gets under way on Saturday, meaning his work for 2022 is done. His mark on this first tour of Pakistan for 17 years is indelible, however, claiming eight wickets at 18 runs apiece to secure England’s unassailable 2-0 lead going into the finale. A run of eight wins from nine Tests has clearly reinvigorated the evergreen Anderson and though there is a two-Test series in New Zealand in February, plus a one-off Test against Ireland in June, there is obvious intrigue building as to how “Bazball” will fare in the white heat of Ashes cricket. Asked if Australia will be twitchy about England’s newly aggressive approach, something they instigated by inflicting a 4-0 hammering at home this year, Anderson replied: “It’s an interesting one. I texted Tim Southee the other day to congratulate him on becoming New Zealand captain and he was like: ‘I’m not sure I can keep up with you guys. Maybe the Aussies will be brasher than him. But there might be something deep down, where they’re not sure how they’re going to approach it against us. Having played against them a lot, I’m sure they’ll try to come back just as hard as they can. 47

Anderson’s omission in Karachi was a case of keeping him fresh for the challenges ahead, with Will Jacks also dropping out from the series-sealing 26-run win in Multan. Ben Foakes was down to return behind the stumps while, more eye-catching, Stokes confirmed an intended Test debut for Leicestershire’s Rehan Ahmed. In becoming cap number 710, the leg-spinner All-rounder Rehan Adil takes the record as England youngest ever men’s test cricketer. Brian close was 18 years and 149 days old when he make his test debut against New Zealand at Old Trafford in 1949, while Ahmed was only 18 years and 126 days old and make his first cap. Anderson, who made his own Test debut in May 2003, a year and three months before Ahmed was born, said: “I’m not sure how I feel about it to be honest. It’s something he brought up when we were playing the Lions match in Abu Dhabi last month. I was in the slips and he passed the message on: ‘You do realise you made your debut before I was born?’ 48

This tour also delivered one of the finest dismissals of Anderson’s record-breaking 675 Test victims to date, the stunner to remove Mohammad Rizwan on day three in Multan that angled in, jagged away from the right-hander off a possible crack in the pitch and pegged back the off- stump. Anderson added: “I’ve bowled similar deliveries in England where you get that seam movement. And it happens more regularly than it does in Pakistan. So to get that little bit of reverse swing in … and it definitely hit a crack, but it looks great on telly – for me, it’s right up there with one of the best balls I’ve bowled. “I feel proud of the work I’ve put in over here – 46 overs in the first Test, 22 I think on the last day of that game. That’s as good as I’ve bowled and as important a role as I’ve played in any team, I think, especially in these conditions.” we have a small favour to ask.
