Lesson Plan - 1 Computer Science Step-wise Thinking Class: Period: Mode: Classroom/Lab Teacher: ____________________________________________________________________________________ Learning Support Assistant: ____________________________________________________________ Time: 40 min. Learning Objectives By the end of this session, students will be able to: 1. Understand what is step-wise thinking. 2. Define the term “step”. 3. Define the term “planning”. 4. Differentiate between “task” and “sub-task”. 5. Give and follow clear directions. Session Conduction Engage: As Concept introduction: Ask: How do you get ready for school? How do you unwrap an ice cream and eat it? How does mom prepare maggie? How do you draw the picture of a tree? Let the students come up with answers. Concept Demo/Explanation: Ask: Do we need a sequence of steps to prepare a hot glass of sweet milk? Why does a pilot need a sequence to start and fly a plane? What will happen if he does not follow the right steps? Show the students the steps to draw the drawing of a tree. Fun Puzzle Discuss the farmer, lion, goat and grass puzzle given in the book. Ask students if the sequence of steps was important in this puzzle.

Activity – Planning a trip to picnic Let the students plan an imaginary picnic. Interact with them by asking questions and making them realise what they missed. Next, explain that a large task can be broken down into parts called sub-tasks. Use the example of house construction given in the book. Activity – Noodle preparation Let the students discuss and correct the sequence of the stapes in the recipe. Elaborate in the importance of the sequence of steps. Inform: Sequence of steps is also important when we give directions to someone about a place. Activity – Guide the rabbit to the carrot Explain the students how to solve the problem in the activity. Let them do it. Later, explain the importance of steps needed to give correct directions. Concept Practice: Do the problem solving activities given in the Lab Activity section. Home Assignments 1. Revise the topic covered. 2. Practice the interactive exercises in Edusoft Smart App. 3. Solve any additional exercises on playground.edusoft.co.in Evaluation After completing the lesson solve the exercises given in the book.
