Lesson Plan - 7 Computer Science MS Word: Enhancing the Text Topic- Alignment and Lists in MS Word Class: Period: Mode: Classroom/Lab Teacher: ____________________________________________________________________________________ Learning Support Assistant: ____________________________________________________________ S.M.A.R.T. Learning Objectives By the end of this session, students will be able to: 1. Position text and objects in MS word using 4 types of alignment. 2. Organize text in the form of numbered or bulleted list. Resources 1. video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlIrUTI_Pn4 (0.00 to 2.54). 2. Use the eContent to show the animated demos of the lesson. Session Conduction Engage: Ask students what do they to format their text in MS Word. Concept introduction: Text Alignments, Border and Shading, Line and Paragraph Spacing, and Watermark are some more features provided by MS Word 2016/19 to its user. These features are used by the user to format text or paragraphs so that it gives a good look or a kind of systematic look. Concept Demo/Explanation: Explain there are 4 types of text alignments which are left- aligned, center-aligned, right-aligned, and justified. Show when we justify text, and how space is added between words so that both edges of each line are aligned with both margins. We can align Word objects—such as pictures, shapes, SmartArt, and charts—in relation to the edges of the page, the margins, or other objects. Next, explain the List. Lists are a great way to organize and emphasize related information. Ask students where they see lists in the real world. Answers can be in restaurants menu, lists of items on a shopping list, etc. Tell students they can use a numbered list to display complete sentences or

paragraphs in a series (e.g., itemized conclusions, steps in a procedure). Use a lettered list or bulleted list rather than a numbered list if the items are phrases. Concept Practice: Align text to left, right, center, and justify from the paragraph option in the Home tab of MS Word 2016/2019. Alternatively, it can be done using keyboard shortcuts. Ask students to find out the shortcuts for applying different alignments. Show how to create numbered lists and bulleted lists. Ask students to observe how a list automatically indents. Show how to choose different options bulleted lists with different shapes and numbered lists with different options like Arabic numeral followed by a period, alphabets either not enclosed in or followed by parentheses. Show how to add multilevel lists in our text. Ask students to complete the do-it-yourself activities. Optional Activity: Students can watch the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlIrUTI_Pn4. Practical Application: Complete the activity given under the lab activity section of the chapter. Home Assignments 1. Revise the topic covered. 2. Practice the interactive exercises in Edusoft Smart App. 3. Solve any additional exercises on the playground.edusoft.co.in Guided Assignment Students can visit https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/define-new-bullets- numbers-and-multilevel-lists-6c06ef65-27ad-4893-80c9-0b944cb81f5f and https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/text-alignment-in-ms-word/ and discuss their findings with the teacher. Evaluation After completing the lesson solve the exercises given in the book.

Lesson Plan – 8 Computer Science MS Word: Enhancing the Text Topic-Spacing, Border and Shading and Watermarks Class: Period: Mode: Classroom/Lab Teacher: ____________________________________________________________________________________ Learning Support Assistant: ____________________________________________________________ S.M.A.R.T. Learning Objectives By the end of this session, students will be able to: 1. Add or remove the number of vertical spaces between lines of text. 2.. Add or remove the number of vertical spaces between paragraphs. 3. Apply border around a paragraph or page. 4. Highlight a text by adding shades. 5. Add watermarks in the background of a word document.. Resources 1. video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNeG3PzDUuo (6.24 onwards) 2. Use the eContent to show the animated demos of the lesson. Session Conduction Engage: Recap the previous topics. Concept introduction: Line spacing and paragraph spacing determine the amount of space above or below a line and paragraph. Borders are rules we add to any or all of the four sides of a paragraph. Shading is the colour we use as a background for a paragraph. MS Word let us create watermarks. Watermark is simply that image or text that appears mainly behind the main document. For instance, watermark documents will normally display the status of the document like \"confidential\", ‘Draft\" among others. Concept Demo/Explanation: Explain how to add line spacing and paragraph spacing. Inform students that the lines in all Word documents are single-spaced by default, which is appropriate for letters and most documents. But we can easily change our document line spacing to double or 1.5 lines to allow extra space between every line. This is useful when

we want to make notes on a printed document. When we press Enter to start a new paragraph, the spacing is carried over to the next paragraph, but we can change the settings for each paragraph. Similarly, to highlight a text to grab readers’ attention we can use the border and shading option. Show how it can be done from the border and shading dialog box from the border and shading option in the Paragraph tab of the Home menu. Highlight a paragraph by applying shading styles. Applying page borders. Refer to the steps from the chapter. The steps are the same for MS word 2016/2019. Show the built-in watermark option of MS word 2016/2019. Show how to add a picture as a watermark. Concept Practice: Ask students to complete the Do-It-Yourself activities. (6.24 Optional Activity: Play https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNeG3PzDUuo onwards) and discuss. Practical Application: Complete the activity given under the lab activity section of the chapter. Home Assignments 1. Revise the topic covered. 2. Practice the interactive exercises in Edusoft Smart App. 3. Solve any additional exercises on playground.edusoft.co.in.
