Lesson Plan - 1 Computer Science More Fun with Tux Paint Topic-Paint, Stamp, Line, Text, and Label tools Class: Period: Mode: Classroom/Lab Teacher: ____________________________________________________________________________________ Learning Support Assistant: ____________________________________________________________ S.M.A.R.T. Learning Objectives By the end of this session, students will be able to: 1. Draw freehand shapes using Tux Paint, 2. Use the stamp tool to draw some simple filled and unfilled shapes. 3. Write letters and numbers using the Text tool. 4. Type text and move the text using the Label tool. 5. Use the Line tool to draw lines. Use the eContent to show the animated demos of the lesson. Session Conduction Engage: Recap the previously learned tools in Tux Paint. Ask them what is the use of Tux Paint. Name some tools like text tool, stamp tool, and paint tool and ask what can be the use of these tools. Tux Paint is not only used for drawing pre-designed shapes. It also lets us draw freehand, using various brushes. The paint tool and other tools in Tux paint let us be creative and helps in creating professional art. Concept introduction: Tux paint has many tools Tux paint gives us an option to draw beautiful patterns using the Paint tool and a stamp tool is an interesting tool that is used to draw ready-made images as stamps. The text tool allows us to write letters and numbers.

While using the Text tool, the text entered can't be changed or moved later because it becomes a part of the drawing. To avoid this, the Label tool is used. Concept Demo/Explanation: Use the Paint tool to draw freehand drawings. Show how to select brush size from the right-hand option bar and colours from the colour palette. Draw a house using the Paint tool. Also, show students how to use the paint tool for drawing filled shapes like triangles, arrows, etc. Show how to use the stamp tool. Show how to draw lines using the Line tool. Next, select the text icon from the left side toolbar and select the font types and colours from the right side and bottom. In the Label tool, the text floats over the pictures. It can be repositioned or edited later. Concept Practice: Ask students to explore the paint tool, stamp tool, line tool, and text and label tools. Students can use the Fun Zone activity for practice. Tux Paint already has some inbuilt stamps. Additional stamps can be downloaded from the following website: www.tuxpaint.org/download/windows. Optional Activity: Watch the video from the resources section. Practical Application: Ask students to complete the Lab Masti exercise. Home Assignments 1. Revise the topic covered. 2. Practice the interactive exercises in Edusoft Smart App. 3. Session Conduction Engage: Recap the previous topics. Concept introduction: The magic tool is one of the special tools in Tux Paint that provide a countless number of special visual effects if it is used in various combinations with other tools. It can be used to enhance our drawings and can give them a new look. Concept Demo/Explanation: Use the magic tool to apply effects like rainbow, tornado, mosaic, emboss, kaleidoscope, lighten effects, etc on an existing drawing. Draw a fish and apply effects like the bubble, flower, mosaic, and grass using the magic tool. Next, show how to save a drawing in Tux Paint using the save button. Use the open button to open existing drawings in Tux. Concept Practice: Ask students to complete the fun zone activity. Give some activities like creating an invitation card, and greetings cards using the stamp and magic tools. Optional Activity: Watch the videos from the resources section.
