Lesson Plan Computer Science Using Graphics in MS Word Topic- Insert Graphical Objects Class: Period: Mode: Classroom/Lab Teacher: ____________________________________________________________________________________ Learning Support Assistant: ____________________________________________________________ S.M.A.R.T. Learning Objectives By the end of this session, students will be able to: 1. Insert graphical objects in MS Word document. 2. Resize the image inserted. 3. Rotate the picture in a word document. 4. Use 6 ways to wrap text around the image inserted. 5. Use two ways to crop an image. Resources 1. video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KlumerQs0o (0.00 to 4.46). 2. Use the eContent to show the animated demos of the lesson. Session Conduction Engage: When they read the menu cards in restaurants and find a fancy dish name, ask students if they will be comfortable ordering it. However, if there is an image that shows this is what the dish looks like, then we will be more comfortable. Show some images and a paragraph describing them and ask which one is communicating more. Emphasize how images give depth and context to a description or story and provide a much more immersive experience than writing alone. Concept introduction: Our brain can interpret images much more quickly than text. Adding pictures to our documents can be a great way to illustrate important information and add decorative accents to existing text. Used in moderation, pictures can improve the overall appearance of our documents. Word allows us to do much more than simply insert or place graphics. We can also correct brightness and contrast, the color, add a border, etc., using Word border tools.
Concept Demo/Explanation: Discuss the difference between inserting pictures from a disk and online. Show, what default layout is applied when an image is inserted. Discuss how inserting a high-resolution image can affect the file size. Also, when an image has copyright protection, no one else can use the image without the owner giving permission. Positioning an image in Word usually requires only clicking it and dragging it where we want. That doesn't always work, however, because the text flow around the image may change in a way that doesn't look right for the document. If that happens, use the Layout Options to reposition the image. Concept Practice: Insert pictures online by inserting an airplane picture. Search for a computer picture online and insert it using the online pictures option when inserting a picture. If possible, insert some pictures from a Facebook profile by connecting them to one drive or by downloading and saving them on a computer drive. Explain how resizing a picture can compress the image size, making the file size smaller. Using the steps mentioned in the chapter, resize the image used in a word document. Rotate the picture to give a tilted effect. Use the layout options to wrap the text around an image. Insert a picture with a human face and remove the background by cropping it. Optional Activity: Students can watch the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlIrUTI_Pn4. Practical Application: Complete the lab activities and do-it-yourself activities of the chapter. Home Assignments 1. Revise the topic covered. 2. Practice the interactive exercises in Edusoft Smart App. 3. Solve any additional exercises on the playground.edusoft.co.in Guided Assignment Students can visit and discuss their findings with the teacher. Evaluation After completing the lesson solve the exercises given in the book.
Lesson Plan Computer Science Using Graphics in MS Word Topic-ClipArt, Icons, 3D Model, Shapes and WordArt Class: Period: Mode: Classroom/Lab Teacher: ____________________________________________________________________________________ Learning Support Assistant: ____________________________________________________________ S.M.A.R.T. Learning Objectives By the end of this session, students will be able to: 1. Add predefined styles to a picture. 2. Add clipart, icon, and 3d model in a word document. 3. Add shapes of different categories. 4. Insert and delete WordArt. 4. Add styles to shape and WordArt. Resources 1. video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KlumerQs0o (4.46 onwards). 2. Use the eContent to show the animated demos of the lesson. Session Conduction Engage: Recap the previous topics. Ask students how they decorate their house. Do they create decoration items or purchase them from the market? Which one is easier? Explain built-in styles in MS word are combinations of formatting characteristics that can be applied to text or images to quickly change their appearance. Concept introduction: MS Word provides built-in styles, which are combinations of formatting characteristics that you can apply to text, tables, or images to quickly change their appearance. Predefined styles for pictures are a combination of 3-D effects, shadows, reflections, glows, and bevel effects. MS Word also provides clipart, icons, and 3D models. We can add a variety of shapes to our document, including arrows, callouts, squares, stars, and flowchart shapes. Concept Demo/Explanation: Apply predefined styles to a previously inserted image using the format tab. Discuss the differences between clipart, icons, 3D models, and shapes.
We can change a shape into a different shape, format a shape's style and color, and add various effects. Open a WordArt gallery of text styles that can be added to our documents to create decorative effects, such as shadowed or mirrored (reflected) text. Use WordArt to add special text effects to our documents. Concept Practice: Insert clip-art and icons. Apply layout formats and resize them using image handles. 3D model pictures are available in MS Word 2019, which can be inserted from a computer or online. Use the 3D controls to rotate or tilt your 3D model in any direction. Add shapes from different categories. Apply a fill color, outline color, shape effects (shadow, bevel, etc.), and add text to a shape. Add a word art and apply different styles. Refer to the steps in the chapter. Open the print menu and show how we can print a single page from the document or the entire document. Discuss how to specify the number of copies, and how to select a printer or save the file as a PDF using the print menu. Optional Activity: Play https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KlumerQs0o (4.46 onwards) and discuss. Practical Application: Complete the activity given under the lab activity section of the chapter. Ask students to complete the Do-It-Yourself activities. Home Assignments 1. Revise the topic covered. 2. Practice the interactive exercises in Edusoft Smart App. 3. Solve any additional exercises on playground.edusoft.co.in. Guided Assignment Students can visit https://www.howtogeek.com/school/microsoft-word-document-formatting- essentials/lesson4/ and use it for practice. Evaluation After completing the lesson solve the exercises given in the book.
