Lesson Plan - 1 Computer Science MS Word Page Layout Topic: Page Setup Settings Class: Period: Mode: Classroom/Lab Teacher: ____________________________________________________________________________________ Learning Support Assistant: ____________________________________________________________ S.M.A.R.T. Learning Objectives By the end of this session, students will be able to: 1. Create a custom page margin. 2. Change the page orientation of the word document. 3. Choose the paper size depending on the type of document. 4. Create newspaper-style columns layout in MS Word. 5. Insert page and columns breaks. Resources 1. video https://youtu.be/JNeG3PzDUuo (0.00 to 5.55). 2. Use the eContent to show the animated demos of the lesson. Session Conduction Engage: Discuss with students when they write in a notebook what alignment they follow. Do they leave any space on the page for margins? What do they see in a book? Do they see any space on the top, down, right, and left sides of the page? Now explain how page layout formatting in MS Word is used to create documents with a more custom design, like newsletters, books, or posters. Documents come in different shapes and sizes, like legal or brochure. In Word, change the default paper size to fit the type of document we’re working on. Concept introduction: Explain in MS Word 2019/2016 we can customize the page orientation, paper size, and page margins depending on how we want our documents to appear. In Word, each page automatically has a one-inch margin. Add extra margin space to allow
for document binding, note writing, etc. Depending on how we want our document to be displayed or printed we can change the orientation. By default paper size in MS Word 2016/2019 is A4. It can be changed to other sizes if we want to print brochures, legal documents, etc. Format a word document in a newspaper-style column layout by adding columns. Page and column breaks add a break at the current location to move the text to the beginning of the next page or column. Concept Demo/Explanation: After explaining the different page layout options show how to change them in the Layout Tab of MS Office. Change the default settings for margin, orientation, paper size, and splitting text into more than one column. Change the page size setting for all the pages in the document or apply to only some pages. Save the paper size setting selected to set as default. Split only selected part of the text into multiple columns. Show how page break and column break works. Steps for MS Office 2019 and 2016 are the same. Concept Practice: Ask students to follow the steps given in the book to change the page setup settings. Use any word document created by a student to split the text into 4 columns and set a line between columns. Let them complete the Brain Jogger activity to create an invitation card in landscape orientation with a top and bottom margin of 1\" and left and right margin of 1.25\". Optional Activity: Watch the video https://youtu.be/JNeG3PzDUuo (till 5.54s) and discuss with the teacher. Home Assignments 1. Revise the topic covered. 2. Practice the interactive exercises in Edusoft Smart App. 3. Solve any additional exercises on playground.edusoft.co.in Guided Assignment Students can visit https://edu.gcfglobal.org/en/word/breaks/1/ and https://edu.gcfglobal.org/en/word/page-layout/1/ to discuss their findings with teachers. Evaluation After completing the lesson solve the exercises given in the book.
Lesson Plan - 2 Computer Science MS Word Page Layout Topic: Inserting hyperlinks, header and footer, symbols and textboxes Class: Period: Mode: Classroom/Lab Teacher: ____________________________________________________________________________________ Learning Support Assistant: ____________________________________________________________ S.M.A.R.T. Learning Objectives By the end of this session, students will be able to: 1. Insert a new page in the word document. 2. Add specific information in the header and footer section. 3. Connect to a webpage or a file by inserting the hyperlink. 4. Highlight a text using textbox. 5. Create scientific and mathematical equations using symbols in word documents. Resources 1. video https://youtu.be/JNeG3PzDUuo (5.55 onwards). 2. video https://youtu.be/dtgm8ZVN8V8 (5.00) 3. Use the eContent to show the animated demos of the lesson. Session Conduction Engage: Revise the previous topics. Discuss with students what do they see in the margin area of a book. Do they see any information which is getting repeated there? Tell them pieces of information like page number, chapter name or title book may appear in the top and bottom margin area of a book. That area is known as the header and footer section. Concept introduction: Explain hyperlink as a piece of text or an image in a document that can connect readers to another portion of the document or a different file or a web page. Use headers and footers to add a title, date, or page number to every page in a document. Text boxes can be useful for drawing attention to specific text. The most important thing to
understand when inserting symbols, fractions, special characters, or international characters is that the font being used is critical. Not all fonts have the same characters in them. Concept Demo/Explanation: Demonstrate the steps given in the book to insert a new page. create hyperlinks to a file or a website. Point out how hyperlinked text changes to a blue colour with an underline. Insert preformatted header and footer. Insert page numbers at different positions, different types of symbols for creating mathematical equations, and text boxes. Explore the page setup dialog box and other options of header and footer tools. Concept Practice: Ask students to complete the Brain Jogger activity to insert the header and footer. Let them insert text boxes with preformatted ones and draw the text box option. Insert a special character, fraction, or other symbols in your Word documents. Optional Activity: Watch the video in the resources section. Home Assignments 1. Revise the topic covered. 2. Practice the interactive exercises in Edusoft Smart App. 3. Solve any additional exercises on playground.edusoft.co.in Guided Assignment Students can visit https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/insert-a-symbol-in-word- 2a061ae9-5a6c-4407-b618-8dc3c9fd4f44 and https://edu.gcfglobal.org/en/word2016/headers-and-footers/1/ to discuss their findings with teachers. Evaluation After completing the lesson solve the exercises given in the book.
