Learning Objectives By the end of this session, students will be able to: 1. Identify the features of MS Word. 2. Access MS Word 2016/2019. 3. Use the eContent to show the animated demos of the lesson. Session Conduction Engage: Ask kids how they make handwritten material more appealing by using different fonts or keeping margins. Or how do they check the grammar and spelling in their project reports? Inquire about their knowledge of typewriters after they have responded. On paper, printed characters are written using a typewriter. Similarly, computer word processing systems are used to modify printed texts as well as texts with various colors, font sizes, and styles. Such programmes include grammar checkers. Many also display synonyms for words, and some of them even read the text aloud. Concept introduction: Word processing is the practise of creating, editing, saving, and printing documents on a computer. Word processors are specialised software programs that are required to do word processing. Although other word processing programmes are also frequently used, Microsoft Word is one example of a word processor. Users of these

tools can produce a wide range of documents, such as newsletters, brochures, reports, letters, and memoranda. Additionally, we can add images, tables, or charts to our documents and beautify them in various ways. Applying margins and aligning the text allows us to adjust the text's layout. Additionally, it aids in the addition of headers, footers, footnotes, document bookmarks, and a table of contents for our document. Concept Demo/Explanation: Showcase the numerous computer access methods for MS Word 2016/2019. What does the New Document Selection window show? A new document is opened, and the MS Word 2016/2019 interface appears. The file tab, title bar, quick access toolbar, status bar, ruler, document bar, view buttons, and zoom controls should all be explained. From the file menu tab, start a new document. Enter some text and save the document. Talk about how to save files to a folder on our computer. Concept Practice: Make a fresh document. Add a few words, pictures, clipart, or WordArt. Utilize the zoom control to enlarge the document. Show how the status bar changes as we type to reflect the information. Concept introduction: In Word, selecting text is a typical task. Text can be highlighted with the mouse by dragging the cursor over it. The text in our word document can also be selected using a variety of shortcut key combinations. After we have selected the text, we may edit it by doing things like moving and copying text, changing the font, deleting, and making other changes. Concept Demo/Explanation: Students should be asked if we can buy something at a store without choosing it. The selection is crucial for modifying text, too. Use the keyboard

method to select the text, which requires placing the insertion point in the desired location and then using the arrow keys to highlight the text. Word also lets us use mouse shortcuts. Write a paragraph in a Word file and select the text in it. using mouse shortcuts. For e.g., to select a single word double click within the word. To select the entire paragraph triple, click within the paragraph. To select a single line of text, click in the left margin next to the line. To select a sentence, hold down ctrl and then click anywhere in the sentence. To select the entire document, click three times in the left margin. Close the word file and discuss how to close the file with or without saving it. Concept Practice: Refer to the table in the chapter for keyboard keys text selection in Microsoft Word. Delete text using delete and backspace key. Ask student to open previously created word document and add new text in the file.
