Tell students computers can let us draw just with the help of a mouse and one of the simplest software called Tux Paint. Concept introduction: Tux Paint is an easy-to-use interface, with fun sound effects, and an encouraging cartoon mascot who guides children as they use the program. It has a simple interface. It provides a blank canvas and a variety of drawing tools to help children be creative. It is free of cost.

Concept Demo/Explanation: Open the Tux Paint window and ask students what they observe in it. Show them what is the toolbox, canvas area, color palette. Relate toolbox with tools needed for hand-drawn drawings like pencil, pen, brushes, stencils, canvas area to drawing sheet, color palette with mixing color plate. Show how to select tools and in the bottom area which gives the information about the tool selected. The toolbox in Tux Paint contains paint tools, stamp tools, line tools, etc. The toolbox also has buttons like undo, new, save, and print. Briefly explain them. Once any tool is selected, we can choose some more options related to it from the right-hand side. Concept Practice: Show students how to open Tux Paint from the Start menu. Get them familiarized with the Tux Paint icon. With the help of a speaker make students aware of the different sound effects that we can hear when we select any tool in Tux Paint. Show them how to use the shape tool for drawing shapes like circles, triangles rectangles, etc. Draw a colored square. Also, show students how to rotate a shape and undo any actions. Save the file. Explain how to quit tux paint and make a new drawing. Discuss the brain jogger activity with students. Optional Activity: Watch the videos from the resources section.
