Learning Objectives By the end of this session, students will be able to: 1. Get familiarized with the interface of MS Paint. 2. Use the eContent to show the animated demos of the lesson. Session Conduction Engage: Ask students why have they used Tux Paint in previous classes. Once they answer since computers are used for almost every task. It is also used for creating drawings digitally. There are many options available when it comes to drawing applications that offer a user-friendly interface and photo editing options. One such software is MS Paint. Concept introduction: Microsoft Paint has been part of the Windows operating system. This tool gives users the ability to create and edit graphics. The program is simple to use and has numerous features that allow students to unleash their creativity when working on graphics. The toolbox in MS Paint contains the tools we will use in order to come up with our drawing. Concept Demo/Explanation: Show how to open MS Paint from the Start menu, run box, and windows search box. Walkthrough the interface of MS Paint which is made up of the following components: Tabs, Ribbon, Canvas, and Status Bar. Show students the tools in the tool menu and make them guess what can be the function of that tool. Pencil tool, brush
tool eraser tool as the name suggests are used for drawing, painting, and erasing respectively. Explain what is foreground and background colours. Edit the colour palette by adding new colours. Add some shapes to the drawings and fill the shape with solid colours. Next, add thickness to the shapes. Concept Practice: Ask students to compare the interface of Tux Paint and MS Paint. Which one have they found interesting? Complete the fun zone activities. Give some activities like drawing a hut using different shapes. Optional Activity: Watch the video from the resources section. Learning Objectives By the end of this session, students will be able to: 1. Use different types of brushes in different sizes to draw in our art file. 2. Use the eContent to show the animated demos of the lesson. Session Conduction Engage: Ask students what tool they have used in Tux Paint for freehand drawings. Ask them what we use to draw something on paper. How do we erase our mistakes in drawings? Once they answer tell students MS Paint has Pencil and Brush tools for drawing freehand movement with the help of a mouse. Concept introduction: Apart from previously learned tools in MS paint there are many other tools. Use the Brush tool for painting, just like we would paint our house. The pencil tool is used for drawing or writing anything. An eraser tool is used for erasing any parts of an image or text. Fill With Colour as the name suggests, use this tool to fill an object with colour at once. Concept Demo/Explanation: Select the brush icon from the tool menu of the Home tab and select any of the brushes available. These brushes give different colouring effects like crayons, oil, water colour, marker, etc. Select colour from the colour group and size for the
brush from the size option in the Home tab. Create hearts using different kinds of brushes. Next show how to draw on MS Paint using the pencil tool. Show students the Fill with Colour Tool that looks like a jar that has paint spilling out of it. When we select an area of the image with the left mouse button, it will be filled with colour 1(foreground colour). When we select an area of our image with the right mouse button, it will be filled with colour 2 (background colour) from the colour group. Also, it is important that our drawing should not have any leaking gap otherwise colour will escape to other parts. Use erase tool to erase a part of the drawing. Inform students when we erase a portion it will be filled with the default background colour chosen. Concept Practice: Ask students to complete the fun zone activity. They can create any scenery from their imagination. They can create flowers, airplanes, or any other things using brushes and pencil tools.
