Lesson Plan - 1 Computer Science Uses of Computer Class: Period: Mode: Classroom/Lab Teacher: ____________________________________________________________________________________ Learning Support Assistant: ____________________________________________________________ S.M.A.R.T. Learning Objectives By the end of this session, students will be able to: 1. Understands the uses of computers 2. Identify the places where computers are used 3. Recognize different types of computers used for everyday work. Resources • video https://youtu.be/FnFwOUNLOgU (2.29) Session Conduction Engage: Initiate a discussion on what games they have played on computers. Apart from playing games for what other reason they have used computers/laptops. If not, have they seen it being used by their parents/ elder siblings? Do they know what are the advantages of using computers? Concept introduction: Emphasize how Computers are used in different places for different kinds of work. It has become an important part of our life because of its fastness, accuracy, and ability to do monotonous work diligently. Since all the schools were shut because of the covid restrictions, online classes have been our rescuer. Then discuss that their parents must have used computers/smartphones/laptops for online shopping, ordering pizza, booking tickets, etc. All our daily life activities are based on such online services and products. The computer has changed and now it is a necessity to use a computer in daily life to live. You can also give an example of famous physicist Stephan

Hawking who despite having physical challenges made his work popular with the help of a computer and technology. You can guide your students to find more about him. Concept Demo/Explanation: Explain through the content of the book how it is used in home, office, teaching, banks, tours & travel, etc. Next tell what are the different computers we can use (desktop, laptop, tablet, and smartphone) Concept Practice: Hold a class discussion on how the scientist uses the computer (type of work they do). Discuss the difference between (laptops and desktops) and (smartphones and tablets). Show them some pictures like a person playing on computers, ordering food online, drawing a picture, and then ask them to tell what activity they are doing. Optional Activity: Make four groups of students in the class and assign them a task to find the uses of a computer at different places which were not discussed in the chapter. Home Assignments Revise the topic covered.
