Concept introduction: The Internet is known as “interconnection of computer networks”. The Internet is a massive network of networks. It connects millions of computers together globally, forming a network in which any computer can communicate with any other computer as long as they are both connected to the Internet. Internet helps in transfer of messages through mail, chat, video & audio conference, etc. World Wide Web or simple Web is the name given to all the resources of internet. The special software or application program with which we can access web is called Web Browser. Concept Demo/Explanation: Discuss how internet can be used for news and information, online shopping, mails and chatting, video conferencing, online education, health and fitness, tourism and travel. Ask students to name some website for the above functions. Where are they going to check these websites? Introduce what is a web browser. Emphasize internet connects computers all over the world and the web content that is shared to us on Internet can be viewed using browser. For e.g. browser is like a book which has lots of page and every page has a chapter with a specific information on it. This chapters may contain text, images, videos, point us to another page called a link with more things to look at. There are many browsers available which we can use. Comparing it with books, two books might show us the same things, but they might do it a little differently. The chapter in the books are website. Every website has webpages with specific information. Every website has a specific name known as website URL or address. No two website can have the same website address. Concept Practice: Show how to open internet explorer or any other browser. Discuss why do we use home, back, forward, refresh, search bar, address bar etc. Open any website using browsers. Practice the interactive exercises in Edusoft Smart App. 3. Solve any additional exercises on the playground.edusoft.co.in

Guided Assignment Students can visit https://edu.gcfglobal.org/en/internetbasics/using-a-web-browser/1/ and discuss their findings with the teacher. Evaluation After completing the lesson solve the exercises given in the book.
