Learning Objectives By the end of this session, students will be able to: 1. Customise the appearance and display in Windows desktop according to our preferences 2. Change the themes of desktop 3. Set the date and time of their computers Resource Use the eContent to show the animated demos of the lesson. Session Conduction Engage: Introduce the chapter by asking students a few questions how do we open MS Paint? If we don’t have a desktop, can we open any software? What do they see on the desktop? This helps them to revisit the prior knowledge of the desktop. Ask them what do they see in the background of the desktop? Will they eat the same food every day? Do they feel happy when they get to eat a different menu with pizza, pasta, noodles, ice-creams? Trying something new in our daily routine life changes our mood. Windows 10 provides us with so many settings to make the look of the desktop cool. Concept introduction: You can introduce the chapter by saying just as you like to change the décor of a room from time to time at home, you can also change the look and feel of the desktop. You can choose to have a solid colour or a picture or a collection of pictures in the form of a slide show in the background. The picture could be your own picture or a picture from Windows Gallery. You can fit the position of the desktop image by selecting any of the fit options- Fit, Stretch, Center, Span.

Windows 10 Themes are background images, sounds, colours, and mouse-cursor collections. There are several to choose from that ship with Windows. You can change the colour of Windows and its application too. Tell them what is screen saver and how to apply it. Concept Demo/Explanation: You can demonstrate the steps given in the book to change basic window settings. Show how to change the date and time in the built-in calendar of the desktop. Concept Practice: Give the following activities to students for practice. • Set the Architecture as the display theme. • Set the leaf as window colour(appearance) on your computer. • Set the name of your school as 3D text as a screen saver on your desktop. Do inform students that the wait time for screen saver is 1 minute. Settings of the selected theme can be changed however not all screen savers have settings. Practical Application: Complete the lab activities given in the chapter. Home Assignments Revise the topic covered.
