Learning Objectives By the end of this session, students will be able to: 1. Use MS Paint for simple drawings. 2. Use at 6 drawing tools of MS Paint. 3. Use the eContent to show the animated demos of the lesson. Session Conduction Engage: Ask students since computers are used in our day-to-day life. Do they think computers are used for traditional painting or for creating invitation cards/brochures? Once they answer inform students software like MS Paint, Tux Paint, and Adobe Photoshop are used for creating digital drawings. Remind students about Tux Paint which they have used in the previous class. Tux Paint can be used for drawings. MS Paint is used for both drawing and editing pictures. Concept introduction: Microsoft Paint also known as MS Paint is a simple graphics editor that has been included with all versions of Microsoft Windows. It allows people to create picture files as well as edit picture files saved on their computers. The program opens and saves files in Windows bitmap (BMP), JPEG, GIF, PNG, and other formats. Concept Demo/Explanation: Explain the MS Paint window which has a drawing area, toolbox, and color palette. Explain how to use the drawing tools like the pencil tool to draw
freehand drawings. Inform students that the default colors for Microsoft Paint are black on a white background, it can be changed using the Fill Color tool. A color picker is used to pick a specific color from a picture. Use the magnifier tool to magnify the image where the mouse is positioned. Explain the editing tools available which are the select tool for selecting a part of an image, crop tool to remove the selected area, resize tool to change the size, rotate tool to turn the selected part of an image 90 or 180 degrees, or to flip horizontally or vertically, Concept Practice: Show how to draw a freehand cloud using a pencil tool. Fill the shape with color and add some text using the text tool. Use the opaque option to make the textbox opaque and then add color as a background. Show how to use the eraser, color picker, and magnifier tools. Refer to the steps from the book. Next, show how to select an image by using rectangular selection, free-form selection, or entire canvas. Delete the selected part or invert the selection. Perform different operations on an image like resizing, skewing, cropping, rotating, moving, and copying. Optional Activity: Watch the video in the resources section.
