FROM THE EDITOR Asheesh Gupta “Hello Zindagi Ifind this time of the year very dreamy. There is something about monsoons that is very romantic. It is also a great time to pamper yourself with good food, great company, laughter and happiness. And top of my list in the monsoons is that perfect cup of tea with some crosswords. Head straight to the Mind bender section in the magazine for some fun facts, puzzles, sudoku and other interesting activities to engage with. Bring a smile to the face of the person you care for and recite the poems in this magazine for them in your own style and voice. After all, if aging is inevitable, why not grow old joyfully. Used for everything from music to sport and almost in all parts across the world, ‘Hello’ might be the most overused interjection in our linguistic repertoire. And yet it best describes what we have set out to do with this 12th edition of Samarth magazine. At the outset let me make it clear that with “Hello” we don’t just mean a mere interjection. Instead it's our call to action for all our readers and members of the samarth community. Let us join our voices and say in chorus, “Hello Zindagi”. Let us wear a big smile and embrace aging with open arms. After all, we are standing together shoulder to shoulder, fully aware and fully alive. We have made some interesting and often unconventional choices. Whether it is treading the lesser known trails, turning to our values with pride, being audacious, or embracing success while at the same time opening up about our vulnerabilities, all of this makes the Samarth community, its members and our everyday environment worth every hardship that we have endured. In our five years, we have witnessed (and I would like to think, participated in) seismic shifts in the mindsets of people regarding elder care, from launching care programs to senior citizens helplines, from webinars to media coverages, from a humble beginning to 30000+ members across 110+ cities, and this issue tries to capture all of that. I am happy to re-introduce the all new Samarth theme of Hello Zindagi c , it is focused, inclusive and all about providing family care to our elders in their homes almost like how their own children would like to take care of them.
