Preface This activity book is a combination of a variety of activities about seeking and giving personal opinions in an informal discussion with friends agreeing and disagreeing politely. It was adopted from the various interesting websites. In addition, it was as a guideline for teachers to teach the students more effectively and students can also learn by themselves. This book was consisted of various activities; tell me your thinking, express an opinion, think pair share, pyramid discussion, and express an opinion individually, and mini-debate. the authors thank you so much to the person who related in this activity book and I hope that it will be useful for the users. A c t i v i t y Tell me your thinking 1 Direction 1 Students will scan QR code to listen the conversation. Website 2Students make groups of four and discuss about what they have heard. 3 Answer the questions depending on students' understanding. 1

A c t i v i t y express an opinion 2 Direction • In this part of the test, students will give their opinion about the specific topic. • Be sure to say as much as their can in the time allowed. • Work in pairs (discuss with their partner). • Students will have 15 minutes to prepare. • Students will have 60 minutes to speak. 2

A c t i v i t y Think-pair-share 3 Direction · Propose a solution to find an issue on which two (reasonable) people might disagree. · Provide students work in pairs. · The teacher gives 15 minutes to the students for discussion. · The teacher chooses at random to share the ideas. Activity Mini debate 4 Direction · The teacher provides 6 people per-group. · The chooses at random the topic to the students to debate. · 2o minutes will be given to prepare the information. · 15 minutes of debating will be given in each group. Learn more: How to run a debate. Video 4

A c t i v i t y Pyramid discussion 5 Direction 1.The teacher gives the topic to the students. 2. Students will have 10 minutes to prepare individual information. 3. Let students pair up with their friends to share ideas with each other. 5

Direction 4. Then let students sit in a small group of three people to share the ideas. 5. After that let students continue increasing their member group step by step until the whole class becomes one group. Learn more: Pyramid activity Website 6

Activity Express an Opinion individuality 6 Direction 1.In this question, students will be asked to state an opinion and give reasons for that opinion individually under the topic Homework should be banned. 2. Students will have 15 seconds to prepare and 60 seconds to give their opinion and support it with reasons and examples. 7
