The Backstory Kollel Mishnas Avraham was established ten years ago for outstanding avreichim, true Bnei Aliya who yearn to grow and develop in their learning. These avreichim aspire to become proficient in the entire Shas and Poskim. The learning program is carefully structured to enable the avreichim to reach great heights in their learning and fulfil their immense potential. Besiyata Dishmaya, Mishnas Avraham has succeeded tremendously in its goal of becoming a Makom Torah of serious learning. From morning to night, its Bais Medrash vibrates with passionate learning. Mishnas Avraham has gained renown throughout Modiin Illit as a Kollel that embodies intense and deep Torah learning. Its impact can be felt throughout the town, their Torah and Yiras Shamayim inspiring those around them. In addition to their own rigorous learning, a number of these exceptional avreichim spread their love for Torah and Mitzvos to those less affiliated, through actively engaging in outreach activities. And so the light of Torah emanating from this bastion of Torah – Mishnas Avrahm continues to spread well beyond the Kollel’s walls. A number of the Kollel alumni have gone on to become Marbitzei Torah, Moreh Horaah and Mechabrei Sefarim, further testimony to the outstanding learning within this Kollel.
The Rosh Kollel Rav Mordechai Levy shlita, a Talmid Chacham of note, learned in Yeshivos Kol Torah, and Chevron. He has gained renown for his incisive and illuminating Shiurim. His daily Daf Yomi Shiur is immensely popular, with his many listeners gaining tremendous Torah knowledge. Rav Levi is also very active in Kiruv, delivering regular Shiurim to those who are very distanced to Torah and Mitzvos. Willing and ready to do anything for Torah and Chessed, Rav Levi is known for his deep caring and concern for others, assisting many in need. Whether they need moral or financial support, Rav Levi will do his utmost in the most discreet manner. His reverence for Torah and those who learn it, propelled Rav Levi to establish the Kollel. He named the Kollel in memory of his saintly father, Rav Avraham Nissim zt”l, who was renowned for his saintliness. Tragically, Rav Avraham Nissim was niftar at a young age, when his son Rav Mordechai was only fourteen years old. A close Talmid of Rav Menashe Donut shlita, Rav Levi consults with his Rebbe frequently on all matters. Rav Levi was also closely connected to Rav Arye Finkel zt”l. Rav Levi’s concern for the avreichim knows no bounds, and he goes above and beyond to ensure they receive their monthly stipends on time, as well as bonuses Lechavod Yom Tov.
ראש הכולל הרב מרדכי לוי שליט״א
The Rosh Kollel Rav David Zevulun was born ראש הכולל in Samarkand, Uzbekistan הרב דוד זבולן שליט״א forty years ago. When he was eleven years old he emigrated to Eretz Yisroel. Extremely intelligent and talented, Rav Zevulun excelled in his secular studies, graduating university with a degree in car engineering. Rav Zevulun ultimately decided to immerse himself in Torah learning, and relinquished a potentially financially lucrative career for eternal treasures. He went to learn in Yeshivas Kiryat Malachi and then in Slabodka. Just as he succeeded in his University studies he reached great heights in his Torah learning. Rav Zevulun now shares his Torah assets with his Talmidim, nurturing them so that they too will attain greatness in Torah.
ראש חבורה Rav Refael Venedrola shlita, The Rosh Chaburah הרב רפאל ונדולדה שליט״א an eminent Talmid Chacham, leads the Halacha Chabura. Comprised of 23 exceptional avreichim, the Chabura focuses on learning Gemara through to the related Halachos in tremendous depth. They aim to ultimately achieve proficiency in practical Halacha. Expert in a great many areas of Torah, he spent a number of years learning in the prestigious Yeshivas Kol Torah. Rav Venedrola is renowned for his expertise in Halacha and his penetrating and comprehensive Shiurim. He nurtures his Talmidim to fulfill their great potential. With his immense depth and breadth of Torah knowledge he greatly impacts his Talmidim.
Learning in the Kollel The Kollel aims to nurture avreichim into Bnei Torah with a true Kinyan and Yedias HaTorah. To this end, during the Kollel’s initial years the learning focused intensely on Gemara B’Iyun, equipping the avreichim with a tremendous depth and breadth in Shas. Only after spending significant time on Gemara, did the avreichim shift their attention to studying Halacha B’Iyun, in a most extensive and comprehensive manner. The Bais HaMedrash pulsates with vibrant learning, amidst a unique atmosphere of achdus and caring. All who enter are amazed and inspired by the palpable Rischa D’Oreisa filling the air. Avreichim deliver Chaburos, sharing their Chiddushim on Halacha topics with their peers. This is a most powerful tool that greatly enhances the avreichims’ grasp and mastery of the areas they have learned. In addition, it hones their speaking and teaching skills, which will stand them in good stead for future leadership positions. The significant debating that ensues among the avreichim also further sharpens the avreichims’ understanding of the Sugya. Following intensive study of Hilchos Shabbos together with comprehensive testing, the avreichim continued on to learning Hilchos Nidda. The avreichim are about to conclude this topic after many months of challenging and meticulous studying. Regular Mussar study is an integral part of the Kollel, with a weekly Sichas Mussar inspiring and encouraging the avreichim in their Avodas Hashem.

Avreichim R’ Shlomo Tzadok Shlita -Rav Shlomo married eighteen years ago and has been learning in Kollel ever-since. He is the father of a large family, nine children blia”h. He comes from a very esteemed and well known family, and is keeping up the Mesores. He is a great Masmid, who can’t be seen without a sefer. It is very common for Rav Shlomo to make a Sium M’sichta, as he finishes one after the next comstantly. About him the Avreichim say: His world is the four Amos of Halacha! Aside from his diligent learning, he is also known for his Avoidas Hat’filla, and his special way in Chinuch Habanim. R’ Chaim Tzvi Rubin Shlita- who is a Cohen with Yichus up until the הש״ך בעל, married seventeen years ago, and has a family of eight children בעה״ר. His method of learning is what Chaza”l refer to as מטון ומסיק, or in common language slowly but surely. He reviews every portion of גמרא, until he feels that he has truly gotten the sugya and only then moves on to the next. He is known and respected for his dilligent and very thorough style of learning, which B”h bring him very fruitful results. It is known amongst the Avreichim that the Halacha is the way he says it. in the Kollel
R’ Refael Shafer Shlita- Rav Shafer is the father of six children bli ayin hara. Since his marriage over sixteen years ago he has toiled in learning day and night. He began his Kollel career in a Kollel Shas. It was here that he studied Shas for eight years, completing Shas twice over! He then transferred to Kollel Mishnas Avraham where he continued with his Chazara of Shas, incredibly completing it another two times. Rav Shafer is truly unique in his style of learning. Applying himself to his studies with unmatched diligence and passion, Rav Shafer learns each daf three times with three separate chavrusos. This method enables him to obtain different opinions and outlooks on each and every Sugya. R’ Chananel Goldenberg Shlita- R’ Chananel Goldenberg is an outstanding Talmid Chacham and is due to complete the entire Shas for the second time. He applies himself to his learning with unparalleled enthusiasm and rigor, incorporating extensive and consistent Chazara in his studying. Each month R’ Goldenberg is tested on thirty Daf and every four months he is tested on a staggering 120 Daf! R’ Goldenberg combines both breadth and depth in his learning. He delves into the Gemara covering Sugyos B’iyun, while simultaneously broadening his knowledge as he systematically learns through the entire Shas. It is not only the pillar of Torah that R’ Goldenberg upholds. The pillars of Avoda and Gemillus Chassadim are equally dear to him, and he truly excels in each of these aspects of Avodas Hashem. You, dear partners have a great cheilek in R’ Goldenberg’s zechus of Limud HaTorah as well as the rest of our dear avreichim.
R’ Silberstein Shlita- The yungerman we are privileged to acquaint you with today, can easily be referred to as a Rabi Akiva of our times. Rabbi Silberstein grew up in a traditional (masorati) home that respected the Torah way of life, albeit without much detailed, practical Torah knowledge. Rabbi Silberstein felt drawn to know more about the meaning of Torah and Mitzvos, and after completing his studies in secular schools, he joined Yeshivas Binyan Tziyon. This Yeshiva located in Ramot, Yerushalayim, caters for Baalei Teshuva and was under the guidance of the famed Hagaon Harav Moshe Shapiro ztot'l.KAirfyteart spending six years studying diligently there, he married and moved Sefer. Although moving from a Yeshiva to a Kollel is usually a natural transition, Rabbi Silberstein felt that he was nonetheless missing some of the foundations Avreichimof learning. He was determined to persevere and ensure he could continue learning in the most optimal way. He therefore decided to build up his learning skills in a mainstream Yeshiva. In an unusual move, he enrolled himself in an outstanding Yeshiva here in Kiryat Sefer, joining with complete commitment and perseverance its daily shiurim. He learned side by side with bachurim less than half his age for three years! Only then did he feel ready to join a Kollel, and indeed we were zoche that Rabbi Silberstein chose to join the ranks years of our Kollel Mishnas Avraham. It is now three years that he is part of our unique group. During this time he has been an inspiration to us all. His hasmada knows no bounds, as he sits and delves into each sugya, learning the Gemara all the way through to Halacha L’maase. With the close of each seder, it is obvious that while his stack of Seforim are no longer open, his mind is clearly still on his learning. Ashreinu that we merited to have in the Kollelthis gem of an avreich as part of our Kollel.
R’ Boruch Freilich Shlita -It is our pleasure to introduce you to a remarkable Ben Torah whose love for Hakadosh Baruch Hu knows no bounds. Rav Baruch Freilich is the father of twelve children bli ayin hara. Ever since his marriage twenty-three years ago he has been learning in Kollel. Following his move from Beitar to Modiin Illit nine years ago, Rav Freilich joined Kollel Mishnas Avraham. He is the embodiment of the Ma’amar Chazal that tells us “gהrרoבוuחpב.”ניתRנקaהvורFתr”e–ilic“Thoirsaha is acquired through being part of a central pillar of the Chabura, constantly involved in passionate learning debates with his peers, studying and clarifying the Sugya through much give and take with the other avreichim. Rav Freilich’s home is a towering pillar of Chessed. He and his wife welcomed into their family three orphaned children. With much Siyata Dishmaya they recently married off the oldest of the three. This is just a fraction of the constant Chessed they are involved in. Rav Freilich continues to be a source of inspiration through his Torah and Avoda. RTu’ rYkaiaskroevalTlyurskoSmheliotan-e The Avreich that I’m telling you about today Rabbi Yaakov out of the norm. Although he has a very illustrious Yichus, he doesn’t fall back to lean on that, rather he is continuing this great dynasty as he follows in their great footsteps. Rabbi Turk is a tremendous Masmid using his time to the fullest. He is the first one that comes to the Beis Medrash in the morning and the last to leave. He doesn’t take any breaks during the day, he simply can be found in his place from the time he gets there in the morning until about an hour and a half after everyone leaves in the evening after second Seder. After being married for quite a few years without being blessed with children, he went into Hagaon Rav Chaim Kanievsky for a Bracha. Rav Chaim told him to start working in Kiruv, and that will bring him Bracha. Not wanting to lose out on his regular Sedarim, he simply cut out on other things in order to make up for the time he devotes to Kiruv in the evening hours. B”h he is very successful with baalei T’shuva, and has a group with which he learns Gemara and Halacha five nights a week. The Bracha in his home followed close by, and today B”h he has five sweet children lighting up his home.

Our Partnership מדרש ביתהלוי ל משנת אב כול הלוי כול בית מדרש בית רהם ל משנת אב בית רהם תפילה על כל בני הקהילה ערב ר”ח סיון תשע’’ט Kollel Updates - Summer Zman 5778 Kollel Mishnas Avraham is divided into 3 groups of outstanding avreichim. Each group learns independently, covering different topics and utilizing different learning styles but they all complement each other and work b’achdus to create an ideal atmosphere in the Bais Medrash and strengthen the level of learning in the Kollel. One Chabura is learning Masechtos Shabbos. At the start of the Summer zman, the yungeleit began learning Hilchos Bishul with all the practicalities it involves. They aim to cover all the sugyas of Gemara connected to this topic and follow through all the rishonim until they achieve complete clarity on the inyan up to halacha lemaisa from the Mishna Berura. A second Chabura is studying Masechtos Mikvaos. They started the zman with enthusiasm and bren, delving into the sugya of “Shinui Maare.” They too wish to cover all the relevant Masechtos in Shas until they attain their goal of complete clarity in Halacha according to the Shulchan Aruch. The third Chabura in the Kollel is comprised of outsanding avreichim who are methodically making their way through the entire Shas in depth according to the international Seder Daf-Yomi. They have now started Seder Kodshim, Masechtos Zevachim and hope to attain full mastery of the Masechta. Happenings in the Kollel 5 exceptional avreichim have joined the kollel this zman, and the kollel atmoshphere is charged with enthusiasm and bren to shteig and grow through the coming months. This week, one of the Rabbanim of the Kollel delivered a shiur about Inyanei d’Yoma. The shiur focused on two main topics regarding Sefiras Haomer; one regarding Mitzvois Shetzrichos Kavannah, in refrence to Sefira, and secondly, Counting Sefira when in doubt, and when it is considered enough. Many different possible sefeikos were mentioned, including; being unsure what day it is, counting during the hours of Bein Hashmashos, and Sefira in Chutz La’aretz where there is a safek involving which day we start counting. Three of the Kollel members have recently celebrated the birth of a child, and we hope in the near future to make a joint Seudas Hodaah for all three of them in the hall adjoining the Kollel.
