Your problems our solutions Clean your sneakers Sneakers are the comfort footwear of choice - they never go out of fashion! You can wear them while working out, you can combine them with a sporty outfit or in a more classy ‘casual chic’ style... In short, it’s footwear for everyone who loves to combine style and comfort! But how do you take care of them? Sneakers get dirty often, especially during cold and rainy days. Someone can spill something on your shoes, step on your toes or you might even wear them during a festival or concert this summer. Luckily in most cases there’s something you can do to prevent and fix this. Follow our steps. Always protect your NEW Sneakers. Simple protection will mean any stain or spill can easily be removed by simply dabbing the shoe with a tissue as the damage will be above an invisible barrier. 1. Remove laces: Firstly, you need to remove the laces from your shoes. Try to remove most of the dirt and put the laces in a little bag in the washing machine. Let them air dry and they’ll look brand new!

2. Know which material your sneakers are made of: Before you start cleaning, you should know exactly what material the sneakers are made of. The upper parts of the sneakers are usually made of canvas, leather or synthetic leather and sometimes micro fibre. Canvas and micro fibres are easy to recognise, but how can you tell if a sneaker is made of leather or not? Real leather is supple and feels soft, the cut edge apears grey and textured, while synthetic leather is more rigid. Leather has a very pronounced smell, while synthetic leather has a more chemical smell. Cleaning different materials: Canvas sneakers Let's say you stepped in an oil slick crossing the street, or perhaps dropped a big greasy French fry on your new sneakers (it happens to the best of us). Use our small sneaker brush, to get to hard-to-reach areas. Use cleaner and scrub gently onto the canvas. The oil stain should come right out but remember don’t protect you might struggle! Leather or synthetic sneakers After a while leather can dry out and become rigid. It’s important to clean your shoes regularly with a quick wipe over. When your shoes are completely clean and dry you should touch up faded patches with renovating dye cream in the same colour. Suede sneakers Suede is thought to be a delicate material that requires special treatment but if protected its as robust as most other materials. First, brush off the dirt with the ShoeString suede brush and wash with sneakers mousse, allowing to dry slowly not on a radiator (making leather hard). It’s better to avoid suede becoming wet but if there are tenacious stains, needs must. Dab the shoes dry with kitchen towel roll, no need for anything more robust. Doing this in a rotating movement will remove the damp out of the leather, when dry brush again with the suede brush to refresh the suede nappa character and the suede will look brand new. 3. Start cleaning: To be able to reach to every part of your shoe, we advise you to stuff your shoes with paper towels. kitchen roll; for example. Don’t use old newspapers, because the ink might blemish your shoes. Then you can use our sneaker brush to remove any large pieces of debris from the shoe and the shoe soles. Apply sneakers cleaning mousse all over the shoe and brush your sneakers clean, rinse them with some water until you are happy with the result. Let the sneakers dry. Don’t let them dry in the sunlight / rapid heat as they might shrink and change colour. 4. Rubber White: To have that as good as new result the sole needs to look as good as the upper. Using a tooth brush and Universal Cleaner brush the sole until yellowing and any dirt removed back to super white. 5. Renew the colour: To have as new shoes any trims and logo’s need renewing, with liquid paint and Dye Cream renew to the original colour or design something totally unique.
