MESSAGE OF HIS HOLINESS POPE FRANCIS FOR LENT 2022 Dear Brothers and Sisters, Lent is a favourable time for personal and community renewal, as it leads us to the paschal mystery of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. For our Lenten journey in 2022, we will do well to reflect on Saint Paul’s exhortation to the Galatians: “Let us not grow tired of doing good, for in due time we shall reap our harvest, if we do not give up. So then, while we have the opportunity (kairós), let us do good to all” (Gal 6:9-10).

Editorial Jesus is Risen! Alleluia! In the joy of those words, We wish you all a blessed and happy Easter. Welcome to another edition of Marthoma Vision. This edition brings you the up- dates from the eparchy from January to March. On these days of Easter week, we rejoice that Jesus, who is the Light of the World, rose from the dead. In his Resurrection, we find our hope and our joy. This celebration is at the heart of our Christian faith. When we open our hearts to the wonder of this message, we walk with Jesus, sharing in his life and his peace. His message is one of hope for all. As we renew our promises of baptism at Easter, may we who profess faith in his Res- urrection strive to bring Jesus’ hope to all, particularly those who are poor and those who live in fear. Perhaps today, many of us find ourselves in a similarly dis-consoling place. Just when it seemed that the Covid-19 pandemic was finally receding, Russia invaded Ukraine. Already, lives have been lost, livelihoods destroyed, and people displaced by this action. The situation is deeply troubling. Yet this is only the most recent and visible exercise of violence to capture our world’s attention and concern. As we enter the holy week, let us lift in prayer the people of Ukraine and all those whose lives are affected by war and violence. This Easter, as Pope Francis invited all of us and people of faith around the world to join in prayer and to fast for the cause of peace, especially for the people of Ukraine, let us pray for peace. Like the disciples, we search for Easter hope in the wake of Good Friday suffering. As the Covid restrictions ease, our eparchy at all levels is getting back to some nor- malcy. Parishes and missions communities have become more active pastorally. The 9th pastoral council was the highlight of the last three months; we have included a detailed report of the 9th pastoral council of our eparchy. All departments, including the catechesis, youth apostolate and the family apostolate, have been busy planning many of their events for the rest of the year. Exciting times ahead for the eparchy. A blessed Easter to everyone. We pray that all your celebration of this great feast is a time of grace. Let us live in the light Jesus shows us as we strive to love as he has shown us.
