Introducing the Rising Stars Programme Andy Hamilton, CEO Developing accomplished managers “As Henry Ford once said: “If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself.” This for me, nails it. We have been incredibly successful as a business. But what got us here, isn’t necessarily the right ingredients for future growth. We need to work together to shape the culture, live our values and continue to create an environment that allows our colleagues and customers to grow. The Rising Stars programme is your opportunity, to grow and develop a range of leadership and management skills, knowledge and behaviours that will support you to drive, develop and successfully lead teams in our business. By taking part, you will complete the hugely popular Team Leader/Supervisor Level 3 accredited management apprenticeship and Certificate in Principles of Management & Leadership Level 3 from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), delivered in partnership with leading UK training provider Lifetime. The Rising Stars programme will combine training and development in the workplace with independent self-study, which is all completed during work hours. To support and enhance the training received by Lifetime, you’ll also attend specialist LKQ Euro Car Parts workshops, focused on our core business areas including People, Governance & Operations, Customer & Growth and Finance. What to expect Duration: With the support of a Management Coach from 15 months plus Lifetime, you will follow a detailed learning plan an extra 3 month over 18 months leading you to achieve your End-point Assessment management apprenticeship and CMI qualification. (EPA) period You will receive one-to-one training from your Coach and complete independent learning and work-based development, known as ‘off-the-job’ training (see p. 16) – all during your working hours. As well as one-to-one training, you will attend webinars and skills days in regional groups. These sessions will be delivered by Lifetime and specialist experts within LKQ Euro Car Parts. They have been designed to bring learning to life and provide a fantastic opportunity to share experiences with fellow Rising Stars colleagues in an open, safe environment. The Rising Stars programme will be achieved on passing an End-point Assessment, which is taken at the end of the course and assessed by an independent awarding organisation. The teaching and learning phase of the programme lasts 15 months. At the end of this period, you will be entered for End-point Assessment, where you will need demonstrate all the skills, knowledge and behaviours you have learnt on the programme to an Independent Assessor. These assessments include submitting a project proposal, delivering a presentation and holding a professional discussion. As part of the apprenticeship, you may also need to complete qualifications in Maths and English if not already achieved. These are known as Functional Skills – the industry transferable qualifications, equivalent to holding the relevant GCSEs or National Highers. 6 RISING STARS PROGRAMME GUIDE

CHAPTER ONE What will the training look like? Regular one-to-one training Functional Skills Your Lifetime Coach will deliver training sessions If you do not already have qualifications, such as with you every 8 weeks. At the start of your programme, you will complete an online knowledge, skills and behaviours assessment known as a ‘Skills Radar’. This is to establish your starting point for development and set your individualised learning plan. Your Skills Radar will be continually evaluated and updated at these progress review meetings to ensure you are on track for your End-point Assessment. 8 RISING STARS PROGRAMME GUIDE

9 CMI Certificate In addition to completing the apprenticeship, you will work towards the CMI Certificate in Principles of Management and Leadership Level 3. This qualification consists of two CMI knowledge based-modules which are achieved by completion of a written assignment per unit. Assessment At the end of the programme, you will need to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and behaviours you have developed to an Independent Assessor, this is the End-point Assessment (EPA). Month 11-14 Preparation for End-point Assessment To prepare you for End-point Assessment, you’ll complete regular practice assessments with your Lifetime Coach throughout the programme. Once you’ve completed all the learning topics, you’ll carry out a full mock assessment. This period of time is an opportunity to focus on areas where you need further development and consolidate all of your learning before entering the End-point Assessment phase. Month 15 Gateway Discussion Following your mock assessment, you, your manager and Lifetime Coach will hold a ‘Gateway Discussion’ to agree whether you are ready to take your End-point Assessment. Month 16-18 End-point Assessment Your End-point Assessment will be led by Innovate Awarding. Your EPA phase begins with a ‘Planning Meeting’ (phone call) with you, your manager and Independent Assessor from Innovate. It then includes the following assessments; submission of a project proposal and delivering a presentation, alongside a professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence. These assessments will be scheduled with your Independent Assessor over a maximum 3 month period. Your Independent Assessor will then deliver your final grade, which could be a pass, merit or distinction. If you don’t quite pass an assessment first time, you will receive more training and the opportunity to take it again. 16 RISING STARS PROGRAMME GUIDE

CHAPTER TWO Off-the-job training Those completing the Rising Stars programme are required to spend 20% of working hours committed to learning and development, known as ‘off-the-job training’. Off-the-job training does not mean time away from the workplace - it’s best viewed as dedicated development time. Programme support Successful completion of the Rising Stars programme is a team effort; you, your manager and Lifetime Coach all have a part to play.
