The Foolish donkey Illustrated by Praveen Ghalley
Once upon a time, there was a wealthy businessman called Karma who sold salt for business. He also had a donkey that helped Karma carry his products to the market.
Every day, Karma loaded his donkey with bags of salt to sell at the market. However, there was a small stream that had to be crossed to get to the market.
One fine day, when they were crossing the stream, the donkey suddenly fell and spilt all the salt in the stream.
The donkey was delighted as all the salt dissolved in the water, and his loads became lighter to carry. From that day onwards, the donkey started to play the same trick.
However, Karma understood that his donkey was playing a trick, so he thought of teaching him a lesson.
The next day, Karma loaded his donkey with cotton bags instead of salt. The donkey played the same trick to make the load lighter, but this time the trick didn’t work. Instead, it became heavier, and the donkey suffered a lot.
Hence the donkey learned a lesson, and he didn’t play a trick anymore after that day. Moral: Luck won’t favour always.
