We are Member of committed to improving standards within the industry by improving the standards of safe working practice, education and training. Membership is open to Drilling and Sawing Contractors and Suppliers of Drilling and Sawing Equipment. By joining us as a Contractor, Supplier, Associate or Affiliate member you could raise your company’s profile to a significant number of professional construction organisations.

CSCS CARDS Competency cards from the DSA indicates operative’s construction achieved or working towards qualifications, skills and training. Card Checker & Card Application Forms available on the DSA website DIAMOND DRILLER & SAWER Both cards require operatives to have an up-to- date Health, Safety and Environment Test Trainee: Operatives must be registered on NVQ level 2 Drilling & Sawing. Skilled: Operatives must have Achieved NVQ level 2 Drilling & Sawing REMOTE CONTROLLED CRUSHER / BREAKER Both cards require operatives to have an up-to- date Health, Safety and Environment Test Trainee: Registered on NVQ Level 2 Demolition Plant or Unit QCF224 Concrete Crushing & Breaking Operations. Skilled: Achieved NVQ Level 2 Demolition Plant Including Pedestrian Operated or Unit QCF224 Concrete Crushing and Breaking Operations.
Qualification Routes Level 2 NVQ Diploma Qualifications are recognised as a national - Level 2 NVQ Diploma Specialist Concrete occupational standard achievement, through Occupations (Construction) – Concrete underpinning knowledge and practical Drilling and Sawing assessments. The qualification provides evidence to employers and clients that a standard has - Level 2 NVQ Diploma Specialist Concrete been achieved and work will be carried out to a Occupations (Construction) – Concrete high and safe standard. Drilling We understand that there is not a ‘one size fits all’ approach to achieving a qualification which is - Level 2 NVQ Diploma Specialist Concrete why we offer three routes: apprenticeship, On- Occupations (Construction) – Concrete site Assessment (OSAT), Experienced Worker Sawing Route (EWPA). - Level 2 NVQ Diploma Associated Industrial Apprenticeship: Services Occupations (Construction) – Designed for candidates with little to no Passive Fire Protection experience and is spread across 18months. This route requires the candidate to attend 21 days Level 3 NVQ Diploma off-site practical training, continual training onsite with employers, portal online lessons and А Level 3 NVQ Diploma Occupational Work On-site Assessments carried out by the approved Supervision (Construction) assessor. Level 4 NVQ Diploma On-site Assessment Route: Designed for operatives to learn on the job. This А Level 4 NVQ Diploma Construction Site option can take candidates 6 months – 3 years Supervision – Building and Civil Engineering depending on the operative’s knowledge and skills. An assessor will arrange dates with the Level 6 NVQ Diploma operatives to visit site and collect evidence. А Level 6 NVQ Diploma Construction Experienced Worker Route: Contracting Operations Management Designed for operatives with two years plus experience within a drilling and sawing role. This Level 7 NVQ Diploma route requires the operative and assessor to complete off-site simulation-based activities, А Level 7 NVQ Diploma Construction Senior recorded discussion, observations and witness Management testimonies across 1-2 days depending on equipment assessed.
Specialist Training The DSA offer a wide range or training specific to the Drilling & Sawing Industry. The Training we offer can be provided at our Training Centre in Nottingham or at your facilities. Completing the stand alone training courses does not mean the candidate is competent to work on there own with the tools, nevertheless it gives the candidate the skills to work with and be supervised by an experienced & qualified operative in order for the candidate to gain experience. Membership 1. Sponsors/ References Applicants must be sponsored by two existing members of the Association, i.e. one contractor member and one supplier member. They must also supply the details of two client firms who are prepared to provide references. The references may be taken up at the discretion of the DSA. 2. Establish Period Either the business or The Director must have been trading as a Drilling & Sawing Contractor for at least 2 years. 3. Turnover The Applicant's annual turnover in Drilling & Sawing work must be at least £250,000 or must represent at least 75% of their total turnover. 4. Accounts Applicants are required to provide a copy of their latest annual accounts in support of items 2 & 3 above. 5. Minimum Insurance Cover Applicants must provide written evidence from their insurer that: • The business description on their liability policies includes Drilling & Sawing. • They have the following minimum levels of cover: •Employers Liability - £2 million •Public Liability £2 million 6. CSCS Cards Affiliate and supply specialist diamond drilling and sawing CSCS cards
Criteria 7. Safety Policy A copy of the Applicant's Safety Policy document must accompany the application. 8. CITB Registration The Applicant must be registered with CSkills (CITB) and must provide details of their Registration Number. 9. VAT Registration The Applicant must be VAT registered and provide evidence of their VAT Registration Number. 10. Attendance All members are required to attend a minimum of one meeting per year, either regional or annual general, should a member not be able to attend, a representative of the company may attend in their place, Failure to comply may result in either a penalty fine or in termination of membership. This would be decided by the board. Any fines imposed will be donated to a charity chosen by the board. Attendance of one meeting held by the association members will be given notice at least 21 days before event. All members are encouraged to attend the Annual General Meeting. 11. European Standards All Applicants for Supplier Membership must confirm that their diamond products conform to EN13236.
