ABOUT This type of machine is an REMOTE electrically powered hydraulic CONTROLLED machine mounted on tracks PLANT and used mainly for controlled demolition. Its compact construction in combination with its electric drive and remote control makes it especially suitable for working in confined spaces and hazardous environments. It is track-driven for maximum accessibility. The machine can operate in any direction as the arm system rotates continuously. It can be fitted with several tools, such as an impact breaker, concrete crusher or drilling head and is equipped with a quick hitch for quick and easy tool change. The machine is maneuvered with a portable control box, which is connected by a control cable, and may also be supplied with radio control. The work often involves demolishing old and substandard building structures where materials such as reinforcing bars and pipes can jam and cause pieces of concrete to fly around uncontrollably. 2

Benefits of Remote Controlled Plant Increased Operative Safety Environmentally Friendly - Remote-controlled use from - Electrically powered /fume up to 30 metres away free - Remote-controlled operation - Works in existing buildings removes risk of hand/arm without noise or vibrations vibration syndrome - Reduces danger caused by Powerful falling remains and debris. - Ability to hydraulically crunch reinforced concrete up to Exceedingly Maneuverable & 520mm thick Versatile - Equivalent power to conventional machines 5 - Can work in confined spaces times its weight and pass through standard - Ability to demolish precise doors areas within a fraction of the time of traditional methods. - Climbs stairs with ease - Long arm reach in excess of 6 metres and has a rotation of 360o radius - Equipped with hydraulic breakers, concrete crushers, drilling equipment, wall saws, or buckets to perform many functions 3

Apprenticeship Scheme Advantages 3 Apprentices are benefiting businesses across the construction industry and more and more employers recognise the value of investing in training to create competent and qualified workforce for the future. 3 40% of contract costs are allocated to Operative labour. Testimonies from current employers of apprentices on the scheme, shows that a trained and competent operator can work more efficiently and productively which results in fewer problems on site and less damaged to equipment. (DSA 2012 Survey – Current Employers Benefits of the Scheme). 3 The scheme is linked to the NVQ Diploma Level 2 in Drilling & Sawing and an Apprenticeship Deed from the CITB. 3 There are substantial grants available from the CITB for training via this route 3 Provides evidence for clients showing a professional, trained workforce, working to a code of Safe Working Practice. 3 Scheme is recognised by the UKCG – United Kingdom Contractors Group. How to Apply to the Apprenticeship Scheme: • Call: 0115 986 7029 or Email: [email protected] • Receive documents / forms • Complete all the documents • Email back to [email protected] • Enrolment complete • Receive Apprenticeship Timetable 9
