Workshop on \"PCB and Circuit Designing\" Date: 6th October 2017To enhance students skill set and to bridge industry- academia gap, ECE department and Indian Tech-Keysorganized a workshop on \"PCB and Circuit Designing\" on 6th October 2017. PCB Designing is one of themost emerging field and is preferable option for students to start their career. PCB designers play key role inresearch and development (R&D), electronics production units as well as in the PCB industry.Motivational Speech by Principal Dr.Suresh. L Key information about PCB designing by Prof.GirishThe workshop was aimed to provide knowledge about simulation tool named Cad soft EAGLE to test elec-tronics & electrical circuits in software environment. The inaugural function of workshop began at 09:00A.M. on 6th October, 2017. The HOD of ECE Dr. Indumathi. G presented a formal welcome address. A 3-day workshop on “Python Programming”Department of CSE under the aegis of CSI-CITech student chapter organized a 3-day workshop on “PythonProgramming” for 5th semester students from 28th to 30th October 2017. The workshop was aimed at improv-ing the skill set of the students apart from curriculum. There were about 60 students who participated enthusi-astically in the workshop. The resource person for the workshop was Ms. Tulsi Acharya, Corporate trainer.The workshop commenced on 28th October 2017 with the pep talk by HOD of CSE, Dr. Shashikumar D. R.,describing the intent of the workshop, followed by introduction of Resource person to the audience.The first day of the workshop was on introduction of python, simple programs with hands-on, rules for py-thon coding, built-in method and functions, control flow statements using if, nested if, looping structures: for,while, and programs associated with theses.The second day of the workshop dealt with data structure in python, type conversion, module in python, us-age of list, negative indexing and slicing. The sessions continued with creating new list, handling stack andqueue, tuples and basic operations on that, modules and packages, exception handling in python, multileveland multiple inheritance and use of super class.The third day of the workshop included discussion on Graphical user interface and hands-on building simpleuser interfaces. The discussion continued with network programming, basic threading, Database in pythonand sample program.All the core topics were covered and the topics were evenly spaced out within the giventime and a complete understanding of each of it was gained.The workshop concluded with valedictory function presided over by Dr. Suresh L. Principal and Dr. D. H.Rao, Dean, Dr. Shashi Kumar HoD, Dept of CSE. Principal in his converse, highlighted about the need tobuild Python Club and to share their knowledge.Students expressed their gratification about the workshop through positive feedback.

Swach Bharat Abhiyaan – Akshaya Patra Foundation Date: 2nd October 2017As a part of Gandhi Jayanthi celebrations, Akshaya Patra Foundation in association with AIKYA organized acleanliness drive on 02/10/2017, for the students from various colleges across Bangalore. Our students fromthe Basic Sciences Department participated enthusiastically in cleaning the K R Market area and spreadingawareness about the need for a cleaner and greener Bengaluru. They spread the message of better future forthe next generation and the need for fellow Bangaloreans to actively take part in creating a better Bengaluru.Students receiving the certificates from the Dean of Basic Sciences Dr. Shanthi S R and the Co-ordinator from AIKYA Mr.PraveenParent-Teacher Interaction Date: 23rd October 2017A PTM was conducted by the Department of Basic Sciences on 23/10/2017, to intimate the parents about theattendance status and performance of their wards in the second internals. More than 150 parents participatedin the interaction and expressed satisfactory feedback about the activities of the college .Taking into consideration the performance of the students, remedial classes have been conducted for slowlearners to improve the results in the upcoming examinations.Faculty members interacting with the parents...

Workshop on NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) Date: 27th October 2017A one day workshop on Neuro Linguistic Programming was conducted for MBA students on 27th Octo-ber,2017 in J.C Bose seminar hall. The speaker of the workshop was our eminent Dean of Citech, Dr. D.HRao. This program was coordinated by Dr. A Anuradha,HOD MBA.This workshop is an approach to better the communication and personal development of students. NLP is allabout bringing changes in perception, responsible communication and developing choices of responses orcommunication in a given situation.Being a voracious reader and charismatic speaker, Dr. D.H. Rao very well demonstrated the concepts of NLPand also focussed on how people think and experience the world. He also enlightened us about the types ofpersonalities that we are, based on the left and right brain usage. Students thoroughly enjoyed the programand participated actively. They were issued certificates, which was an added advantage.Paper Presentation titled “Excellence of quality in Business education: Modification Invention.” by Prof.Rakesh Nagaraj, Prof Rakesh K N and Mr. Jitendra L, Student, II year MBA in Government First Grade Col-lege.First year MBA students Mr. Uday Kumar, Mr. R. Purushotham, Mr. Prasoon and Mr. Vikash De-vaiah participated in the management fest „Calypso‟ of PESIT College, Bangalore which was held on 14thOctober 2017 and were the runners up in Business Quiz event.

Inauguration of Ignite Management Date: 14th October 2017 On 14th October 2017, Department of MBA formally announced the beginning of the student‟s fo-rum “IGNITE” for the current academic year. The Guests for the event were our beloved Principal Dr. L.Suresh and Dr. A. Anuradha, HoD of MBA.The purpose of this forum is to conduct cultural and academicactivities for students, which would groom the personality of students.The program began at 11:30 am by hon-ouring the students, who depicted active participation in the forum activities. Also the new office bearersfrom 1st year MBA for the current academic year were announced on the same platform. The event came to anend with Principal‟s inspiring address and high tea.Ice Breaker Session Date: 25th October 2017 An ICE BREAKER SESSION was conducted for the 1st year MBA students on 25th October 2017.The guests for the event were Dr. L Suresh and Dr. D.H Rao. This event was intended to help the 1st year students to get to know each other and also to warm up their active communication. Ice was broken between the silos by conducting games and talent shows. The entire event was organized by Prof. Ankita Gupta and Prof. Rakesh Hassan. Guest Lecture on “Modern Day Techniques in Banking Sector” Date: 13th October 2017 On 13th October 2017, a guest lecture on “Modern Day Techniques in Banking Sector” was organised by Prof.Ankita Gupta in association with Federal Bank, Bengaluru. The speakers of the day were Ms. Annapoorna - ManagerOperations and Mr. Kishan Gaonkar - Assistant Manager, Federal Bank.. The session focussed on the various advancedtechniques & technologies introduced by the bank which was an eye opener for the students to realize the need for get-ting updated with new technologies. Practical explanations were given to solve their queries. On the whole, the sessionwas interactive and fruitful for the MBA students.

Workshop on “Cyber security and Malware analysis” Date: 28th September 2017Five students from 2nd year MCA participated in a Workshop on “Cyber security and Malware analy-sis” conducted by Oxford College of Engineering on 26th and 27th October 2017. The students are Mr.Prakash G S, Mr.Kiran T R, Ms. Mamatha M, Mr. Kamakhya Singh and Ms. Shylaja..Debugging Contest Date: 18th October 2017Under the banner of KRITANSH, the department of MCA conducted a “Debugging Contest” on 18thoctober 2017. Students of 1st, 2nd and 3rd year took part with great enthusiasm and they were exposed tovarious kinds of questions in programming languages such as C language and Java. The questions wereset at par with Industry standards. Technical talk on Internet of Things Date: 11th October 2017The age of Internet of Things (IoT), where anything andeverything becomes a computer connected to the internet, isapproaching at an accelerating pace. It is indeed importantfor the PG students to be aware of this new trending tech-nology.A “Technical talk” on IOT was organised by the Depart-ment of MCA under the banner of Kritansh on 11th Octo-ber 2017. The Speaker was Mr. Sunil P O, a freelance cor-porate trainer. The students of all semesters attended thistalk. The speaker gave an insight into the concepts of Inter-net of things and its presence in all domains. It was a brain-storming as well as hands-on session that gave students anexposure about IoT at the basic level.

Aptitude Quiz Contest Date: 4th October 2017Under the banner of KRITANSH, Department of MCA conducted an aptitude quiz on 4th october for thestudents of all semesters to make them aware of importance of aptitude skills and also to build a healthy com-petitive spirit among the students.Industrial Visit to NIRM Date: 6th October 2017 OThe team in front of NIRM, KGF The team while departing to KGFWith the initiative of Prof. Vishnu S & Prof. Saranya, an industrial visit was arranged to NIRM (National Instituteof Rock Materials) in KGF, for third semester students of civil department, on 6th October 2017. NIRM, is an Autonomous Research Institute, that carries out intensive studies and experimentation work inorder to cater to the growing needs of the Mining and Civil construction Industry in the area of Rock Engineeringfor design and development. This visit broadened the outlook of students with exposure to different workforcesand areas and also sensitized them to the practical challenges that organizations face.Industrial Visit to Water Treatment Plant at Thorekadanahalli &Shivanasamudram (BLUFF) Date: 6th October 2017 An Industrial Visit to Thorekadanahalli Water treatment plant was organised for the students of 7th Semester on 6th October 2017 with the coordination of Prof. Rashmishree K N & Prof.N S Chandanshree.

They got an oppor-tunity of witnessing solar panels installation practically and also learnt the process of power generation throughsolar panels.This visit helped the students to relate their theoretical knowledge to practical aspects of the studiedcourses, in terms of Industrial unit operations, process and design concepts.One Day Workshop on “Integrated Solid Waste Management” Date: 31st October 2017An One day workshop on “Integrated Solid Waste Management” was organised by the Department of CivilEngg at Cambridge Institute of Technology on 31st October 2017 in association with Indian Concrete Insti-tute (ICI) - KBC Bangalore Student Chapter.The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. T V Ramachandra, Chief Guest of the occasion and Dr. ChikannaBasavaiah, the guest of honour along with our Principal Dr. Suresh L and Head of the Department Dr.Ramesh R L.The technical session started soon after the inauguration on the topic “Integrated Municipal Solid Waste Man-agement”. Dr. T V Ramachandra voiced his opinion about the changes that has happened to environment dueto pollution. Also he stressed up on how to keep our city clean by segregating the organic and inorganicwaste. The topics that were focussed on were Solid-waste managing, collecting, treating, and disposing ofsolid materials that is no longer useful. A serious discussion was conducted on how improper disposal of mu-nicipal solid waste can create unsanitary conditions which would lead to outbreaks of vector-borne diseases.

The technical session was later continued by Dr. Chikkanna Basavaiah who highlighted on the need of compost-ing the organic waste by using various methods specifically vermi composting. His topic on Environmental Issuesand Resource Recovery was informative and of paramount importance for younger generation.Later, A case study on the Environmental Impact of the Mavallipura land disposal site was well demonstrated byanother speaker, Dr. H K Ramaraju. It was followed by a technical talk on “Biomedical Waste Management” byEr. K V Shivakumar who enlightened the audience about the hazardous and non-hazardous waste generated athospitals.Industrial Visit to “DIESEL LOCO SHED” Date: 13th October 2017An Industrial Visit was organized to “DIESEL LOCO SHED” K R Puram, Bangalore on 13th October 2017 fromEEE Department for the students of VII semester under the guidance of the Faculty coordinator, Prof. K PShivamurthy.The diesel loco shed, headed by Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer, has employees in different ranks in the day-to-day operations of the shed, which include periodical overhaul, maintenance and repair works. The locos of thisshed thoroughly traverses over entire South India for passenger and freight services. The Engine which was investi-gated by the students was WDP4D - a passenger hauling Diesel-Electric locomotive with AC electric transmissiondesigned by General Motors Electro-Motion Division & built by both GM-EMD. The locomotive has a 2-stroke,Turbocharged, V16 Diesel Engine with Air brakes with a Power Output of 4000 HP (2980 kW). The Engine hastwo driver cabins with one control console for each Cabin.The industrial visit to DIESEL LOCO SHED has helped students in better understanding of drives employed in theengine and electric traction.
