Many people collect things like stamps, dolls, toy cars, phonecards, etc. as a hobby, but some people like doing something a little more unusual. Mr. Simon Smith is a good painter. He likes painting very much, not on paper, but on stones. He starts by seeing what kind of animal each stone looks like, and then he sketches that animal with a pencil. Then he paints it using acrylic paint. Beetles, turtles and snakes are easier to paint than animals that have fur, such as cats, rabbits, deer and bears. Mr. Smith teaches groups of students to paint animals on stones, so he can earn money and enjoy his hobby at the same time. Passage 2 My hobby is collecting stamps, both from my own country and from overseas. I often get stamps from the letters my parents receive. Sometimes I exchange stamps with my friends, and sometimes I buy them on New Road. When my parents or my uncle and aunt go abroad, they always bring me back some beautiful stamps. I like them very much because they are beautiful. I have a chance to learn the names of other countries, too. I put all of them in my stamp album. I often look at them when I have some free time.
