February 22-23, 2019 at Booth MuseumCARTERSVILLE, GA – Booth Western Art Museum recently announced painter and sculptor JohnColeman of Prescott, Arizona, will be the first recipient of its new Artist of Excellence award. The honorwill be bestowed during the Museum’s 10th annual For the Love of Art Gala Weekend, February 22 and23, 2019. This weekend-long event features the Boots ‘N’ Saddles pre-gala party on Friday night, abrunch with an interview of the honored artist on Saturday morning, an art talk in the afternoon, and thegala event that night.This is the Museum’s primary annual fundraising event to help support important exhibitions andeducational programs through live and silent auctions, sponsorships, and ticket sales. Guests are alsoasked to raise their paddle in support of the Museum’s HAAS Public School Transportation Fund,covering the transportation costs for thousands of young people to visit the Booth.Previously during gala weekend, Booth Museum has honored an artist nearing the end of their careerwith a Lifetime Achievement Award. Honored artists include Howard Terpning, G. Harvey, Kenneth Riley,Fred Fellows, Glenna Goodacre, Mort Künstler, Roy Anderson, Tom Hill, Robert McGinnis, and EdDwight. Beginning with Coleman, the Museum will annually honor a mid-career artist who is clearlyamong the best in the Western art field.Originally from Southern California, John Coleman began studying art at the Art Center for Design in LosAngeles. As a full time artist since 1994, John was voted into professional membership of The NationalSculpture Society of New York in 1999 and is a fellow member of the National Sculpture Society. In 2001he was named as a member to the Cowboy Artist of America. He usually has six or seven works-in-progress at any one time and introduces four to five new editions each year.Collectors are urged to save the date for this important event.
