Red Merle – Julie Nestor Pastel 2019 $125.00 Julie Nestor rediscovers her animal subjects in oil and pastel. Julie has bred both Arabian horses and Australian Shepherd dogs for 25 years on her farm in Brooks, Ga .This red Merle Aussie puppy bred by Julie inspired her to do a pastel portrait of him to portray the whimsical personality of his nature. Aussies are known for their puppy - like characteristics well into their adult years . Julie has a passion for creating gestures emoting mood, light and vibrant shadows through clean color in oil and pastel mediums. She resides in Fayette County, Ga. and is proud to be a member of Booth Artist Guild, Fayette Society of Fine Art, and Newnan Coweta Art Association.
Tunnel Hill Depot – Sandra Babb Oil 2019 $500.00 Tunnel Hill Depot was painted \"en plein air\" on a very hot summer day in July 2019. The artist was preparing for an exhibit at the Tunnel Hill Railroad Museum in Tunnel Hill, GA. The view is from the Clisby Austin House where Union Troops camped and a Civil War Battle was held. This was painted on a historical site of a view of the old depot and nearby church. A train was rolling on the rail and barely captured. Plan to make a visit to these scenic grounds and learn more about our history.
Mercier’s Rubies – Susan Waters Oil 2018 $400.00 “Mercier’s Rubies” was painted, in oil, during the Blue Ridge Plein Air Festival last September. It was my second painting site that morning. Earlier I’d been stung by a saddleback caterpillar before my paints were out of the bag and I had retreated, nursing my hand. However as I drove past the orchard the apple harvest gleamed cheerfully. Mercier’s management generously allowed me to set up amongst the trees, and I forgot my discomfort in the beauty of their sunlit apples.
Have You Any Wool – Lana Smyer Pastel 2019 $850.00 My inspiration for this piece came from the children’s poem. There are many different breeds but these sheep are used for their long wool that they produce. The dark sheep are Lincoln sheep that originate from England. The White sheep is a Romney sheep that originates from New Zealand. Both breeds can produce as much as 30 pounds of wool annually, which coincides with the title “Have You Any Wool”.
Hidden Gem – Beverly Culver Oil $200.00 A bridge over the river was a wonderful find when my friends and I got lost in northeastern Alabama. Each stroke of the paint brush made me smile!
The Gift, Homage to Roseta Santiago – Nikki Davidson Oil 2017 $500.00 Years ago Roseta Santiago came to the Booth Museum to teach a workshop. The class was packed and we all had a wonderful experience. Roseta had brought many objects of her own to set up for still life study and among them was a little Tibetan teacup. I’d told her how much I admired that little cup and so she handed it to me saying, “it’s yours” but you must promise to use it in a still life painting”. I’ve done just that in “The Gift” and one might think the Title refers to the cup. Actually the title refers to the experience of working with Roseta and the knowledge I gained that week.
Meandering – Ann Currey Oil 2019 $800.00 Meandering is a piece from the rolling hills of Virginia. Unseasonably warm weather, radiant sunshine and a shimmery river were a special treat that day.
The Light of St. Simons – Gary Worthan Oil 2018 $900.00 It is truly “The Light Of St. Simons”! It’s impressive white painted brick structure with attached lighthouse keepers red brick house, are magnificent to behold. At my first visit to the lighthouse, I knew I had to paint it. I chose to paint it at an angle that caught all the lighthouse and ¾ of the keepers house. As the sun was setting, the western side of the tower was exposed to its brilliant light and found paths through the thick green foliage that surrounds the lighthouse grounds.
Good Morning Reunion – Elda Arias Oil 2018 $200.00 When I drive at Villa Rica Road (Powder Springs) the Cows was reunited along the road ,especially in the morning. It was very touching, I seen them as a family, and they remain in my memory.
Rocky Point- Ann Currey Oil 2019 $900.00 Rocky Point is a constant array of ever changing color and atmosphere. Sunshine turns to fog in a matter of minutes but sounds of the surf and a light breeze all make for a perfect day of painting.
Morning Rest – Brenda Pinnick Oil 2019 $950.00 I painted this larger piece from a plein air study I had done last summer. These beautiful cows live about a mile from me and I’ve painted them many times. They seemed to like the company.
Mason’s Peach of a Jar – Susan Budash Oil on panel 2019 $600.00 The Mason Jar Series was begun in 2009 when I discovered a collection of mason jars in a 100 year old building awaiting demolition. Collecting the 30+ antique jars led to the creation of this series. This series now exceeds 70+ paintings and was featured in the July 2010 issue of ART IN AMERICA for its solo debut in Erie, PA at the Kada Gallery.
Arapaho Scout – Hubert Wackermann Oil 2019 $850.00 Arapaho Scout Area of Colorado Year 1860
Aunt Velma’s Farmhouse II – Susan Waters Oil 2016 $500.00 “Aunt Velma’s Farmhouse” is a plein air painting, in oil, of a long-vacated country home, just off of Hwy 113, between Rockmart and Cartersville. It has all the character of something built to last and seems determined to do so, despite neglect. I was fascinated by the old wood and the variety of angles the sagging structure offered, as well the accumulation of tools and implements that kept the house company.
Storm Brewing – Donna Garrison Leonard Oil 2019 $275.00 I stopped one day to get a photo of Plant Bowen showing the contrast of the smoke stacks with the huge dark storm that was moving in and the sunflowers waiting on the rain.
Pop’s Corner – Sherry Needle Oil 2019 $450.00 \"Pops Corner\" could be anywhere USA back when. It was the place that people gathered to catch up on gossip, trading thoughts about farm equipment, dicussing which pie was best at that fair and snacking on a moon pie. Had to wash it all down after preparing for freezing hands as they slid the ice cold pop to the end of the track. Ah, simpler times.
Follywood Locals – Sherry Needle Oil 2019 $495.00 \"Follywood Locals\" are colorful characters as they soak up the sun at a favorite place on the corner. Do they think that they are in good company with the mural of the Rat Pack, Marilyn, Clint Eastwood and others looking over their shoulders?
Persimmon Kiss – Donna Garrison Leonard Oil 2019 $375.00 Relationship between a persimmon and apples, bitter and sweet!
Au Marche Du Marcais – Kathi Caspar Watercolor 2019 $300.00 On a recent trip to Paris, I came upon this neighborhood market. The variety of produce, the riot of colors and striped awning said “paint me!”
Happy – Wendy Herubin Oil on linen 2020 $325.00 Gerber Daisies have long been one of my favorite flowers. A must have in my garden for the simple reason that they make me happy. I hope this painting puts a smile on your face and makes you happy too.
Tulip and Apples – Linda Riddle Acrylic 2019 $175.00 I have recently been deviating from my usual style and painting with bright colors and outlining in black. I really like this effect and enjoy painting still lifes, using whatever is available and pulling from different sources to create a pleasing arrangement. I plan to continue using this method and hope you enjoy the painting.
Mister Stripey – Walt Floyd Oil 2020 $2,100.00 Mister Stripey - A big luscious red tomato. Different than most tomatoes, it is more yellow near the stem and more red toward the underside, which I found of interest to capture in paint. Larger than life and bold, filling the frame was my nod to a more surreal presentation. Less is more with limited colors and high contrast - brilliant warm yellows and reds with dark shadows and a rich blue sky. 16 x 20 - oil on canvas
Desert Bloom – Faith Tatum Acrylic 2020 $800.00 Inspired by the wide open spaces of a remembered childhood vista I thought it might lend itself to my particular style and color palette. I think it does.
A New Vision – Ken McGarity Oil 2019 $ 650.00 As one who from childhood has had a thriving interest in learning more about the indigenous peoples of the America's, I have read many books and seen much photography and art and imagery on the subject. So often this imagery would appear to be staged for effect and stoic in pose, and more centric to the limitations of cultural misunderstanding that a true representation of the vibrancy and diversity of the cultures which contain such depth and interest and humanity. \"A New Vision\" hopes to accentuate the rich and vivid charm and identity of the Native American's with a more colorful palette that represents the dynamic enthusiasm and distinction of such a wonderful people.
Sunshine in the Garden – Lorraine Kimsey Acrylic 2018 $275.00 Sunshine in the Garden Barrington Hall is a lovely historic home in Roswell. It has a beautiful garden as well. One summer day I painted this scene at the garden en plein air trying to capture the sunlight dancing across the flowers.
Soaring on a South Wind – Gary Baughman Oil 2019 $350.00 “Soaring on a South Wind” I grew up on the plains of Central Kansas. In the summer, the wind was constant phenomenon. Trees grew limbs only on the north side and old barns leaned northward due to the constant pressure of the wind. I depicted a common sight: Cottonwood trees in a large pasture populated with a herd of cattle. In the background is a typical farmstead. High above, framed by the clouds being torn apart and re- shaped by the winds aloft, a pair of red tailed hawks are depicted on their daily hunting expedition. The title of the work explains what is happening, “Soaring on a South Wind.\"
Beastie – Nikki Davidson Oil 2019 $950.00 I was so fortunate to spend a week in Steamboat Springs Co. last summer for the National Oil Painters of America competition. During that week I scheduled several outings into the beautiful Colorado countryside and one of my excursions was to the Lucky 8 Bison Ranch. This 3100 acre ranch has over 250 head of bison and lucky me got to observe them right up close and personal. I mean that from my ATV I could reach out and touch them. What a wonderful day of watching these magnificent “Beasties” in their natural habitat. I couldn’t wait to get back home to paint.
Mountain Cove Farm Apples – Eugenia Johnston Watercolor $325.00 Painted en plein air. I completed them entirely in the field. Literally and figuratively. I am attracted to watercolor as a medium because I feel it best captures atmosphere. It has a luminosity that I find irresistible.
Sunset at Ghost Ranch, New Mexico – Ludmila Harrison Watercolor 2019 $469.00 Traveling last September to Ghost Ranch, New Mexico to paint magnificent landscapes that inspired Georgia O’Keefe. The beauty of this place is astonishing! Really inspirational and the sunsets are spectacular!
Individualism – Larry Breeland Acrylic 2018 $2,500.00 The painting of a tree with various colored leaves represents the earth in a more simplistic form. As humans – our home is this earth. To be removed from this earth would result in death. As you can see each leaf is different with no two alike. This is my representation of the tree as an earth with each leaf representing a different group of people living on this earth …..they must hold on and they must learn to live together – for togetherness will also keep their earth ( tree) alive and supporting them.
Paradise Gardens – Eugenia Johnston Watercolor 2019 $350.00 Painted en plein air. I completed them entirely in the field. Literally and figuratively. I am attracted to watercolor as a medium because I feel it best captures atmosphere. It has a luminosity that I find irresistible.
Winter Cardinals – Michael Strickland Acrylic 2019 $300.00 Our property is certified by the Atlanta Audubon and the National Wildlife Federation as a Wildlife Sanctuary and we have lots of feeders and nesting boxes on our property providing a habitat for many varieties of birds. The Northern Cardinal is one of our favorites, especially in Winter! We currently have a flock of about 5 pairs that come to our feeders daily. The red of the male cardinal in winter cheers the otherwise bleak landscape. Against snow they are particularly striking! Ever alert, this cardinal pair, which has mated for life and is together throughout the winter, has detected something in the distance that has caught their attention. Perhaps they see my wife filling the feeders!
Baby Talk – Cecile w. Morgan Oil 2019 $325.00 I particularly am drawn to tightly cropped compositions that become as much design as image. These two Spanish foals merge into just such a creation. The slash of light infuses an electric accent in an otherwise quiet design.
Winter’s Beauty – Beverly Culver Oil 2019 $250.00 Painting these two subjects brought back fond memories of special moments. An unexpected snow storm created beautiful reflections in the stream on my driveway.
Daffodil Spring – Lorraine Kimsey Acrylic 2019 $400.00 Daffodil Spring Last spring my husband and I visited Gibbs garden to see acres and acres of daffodils in bloom. After taking numerous photos, I settled in painting this one. I tried to capture The rhythmic patterns of tree lines, flowers, shadows and light.
Behind Cartersville – Laura Smith Oil on birch 2019 $275.00 I am drawn to the abandoned when looking for a subject to paint. I usually walk behind buildings, especially near the train tracks for interesting subject matter. This scene, directly behind the Young Brothers Pharmacy building in downtown Cartersville, caught my attention for both its abandoned beauty, and its light and shadow pattern.
Harvest Beauty – Joyce Jones Oil 2019 $400.00 Fall is special. Colors change, fruits of the land are gathered, air becomes crisp and landscapes change drastically. In fact, hay bales appear almost over night! Such is the case in north Georgia at Mountain Cove Farms. This is an essential ritual of harvest conceived early on, practiced for generations and shared by those long gone and yet to come.
Irish Cottage – Michelle Robinson Oil 2019 $ 485.00 Nothing screams Ireland to me more than these quaint traditional Irish cottages you see all over the land, and of course, all the glorious green values that you see there in nature. This painting allowed me to combine my love of painting architecture and my study of painting the restful color of green.
Reflections II –Jean McDonald Coker Oil 2019 $250.00 This painting was inspired after a fast moving ,early spring rainstorm enveloped the small lake and surrounding pasture on the farm where I live. After a thorough soaking, the water and land's deep colors of green, purple and blue emerged as the sun's rays broke through the clouds
Blue Heron on a Grey Day – David M. Jones Oil 2020 $1,200.00 When I saw this bird I was plein air painting at Fairhope ,Al. Pier. It was a cold grey day and it had hunkered down to stay warm. I did a small 6”x8” sketch of it and took photo reference. It symbolized the cold isolated day that it was.
Snack Time – Melinda Wagner Graphite 2018 $300.00 The horse is a most graceful animal, gentle enough to let children ride into wonderful adventures as they play in the barnyard, brave enough to carry heroes into battle and strong enough to move heavy loads. The smell of sweet hay, the touch of a velvet nose and the sound of munching brings a peace to my heart like no other. I love my horses and my quiet times listening to them snack, these moments were my inspiration to create this cute little \"Snack Time\" drawn with graphite.
Contropposto #2 – Cecile Morgan Oil 2019 $1,100.00 Back in my college life drawing classes, there was one particular pose I really enjoyed. When the model would place most of the weight on one leg, there was this magical counter alignment of the shoulders in the opposite direction that caused the spine to create a wonderful sweep from one side to another. In art history class, I found this pose actually had a name and had its roots going back to Greek sculpture. It was revived during the Renaissance, and given the Italian term, contrapposto, or counter pose. Michelangelo used it to great effect in his sculpture, \"David\". The pose exudes relaxed and confident command of a situation...exactly what I thought when I saw this cowboy. So here is my cowboy version of Michelangelo\"s \"David\"...with clothes on...
Please Don’t Eat the Phillies – Elizabeth Carr Watercolor 2019 $600.00 \"Please Don't Eat the Phillies\" is a monotone watercolor done on gesso using a subtractive method. This is accomplished by laying down watercolor over the whole composition, letting it dry and then lifting color off of the negative spaces. With subject matter that is this complicated, a preliminary detailed drawing must be done first. My subject matter came from a photo I'd taken of a previously beautiful potted philodendron on my front porch that I discovered, much to my chagrin, had been half eaten by a hungry deer overnight, hence the title.
Elder Warrior – Dorothy Holmes Reavis Graphite/charcoal 2018 $400.00 \"Elder Warrior\" is a portrait of a purposeful indigenous Elder. The line work in the piece emphasizes a weathered appearance, which is representative of both oppression and wisdom.
Oh Give Me a Home – Jerry Wilson Acrylic 2018 $200.00 Description: 2 bison on prairie land with mountains in background. Inspiration: Inspired by a trip to Yellowstone National Park.
First Spring Bouquet – Melody Boggs Oil 2019 $695.00 Daffodils, to me, mean spring is coming. Although I know there will still be winter days ahead, this is a sign that things are waking up and spring will be here soon!
Dogwoods in Springtime, City Office - Sue Jackson Oil 2019 $350.00 “Dogwoods In Springtime” Dogwoods were beautiful as they frames the doors of the Cartersville City Office.
Prairie Farm – Heidi Hunt Oil 2018 $400.00 Small family farms like this one on the beautiful Nebraska prairie used to dot the entire landscape. However almost all of them have vanished with modern methods and large-scale agriculture. This farm survived because author Willa Cather made it famous in her novel My Antonia. It was the homestead of her friend Anna Pavelka, after whom she modeled the character of Antonia. The farm still exists today as a memorial to the grit and faithfulness of Nebraska’s pioneers. It was my privilege to visit and paint this site and others from Cather’s childhood, thanks to the efforts of the Willa Cather Foundation.
Van Sandt’s View – Gary Baughman Oil 2019 $325.00 “VanSandt’s View” I was invited to Blue Ridge, Georgia, for an annual three-day plein air paintout. A friend suggested meeting at a country restaurant, VanSandt’s, about 10 miles south of Blue Ridge. We set up our easels in the parking lot. I painted the pasture view across the highway which was filled with grazing Black Angus cattle. Trees on the east side of the pasture were casting long shadows that gave the view a nice feel and also depicted the early morning time of the work. There was something very bucolic about the setting and view. I hope, you, the viewer, get this same feel while looking at my painting.
