Spurs and Furs by Peri Alpin $225.00 This photo is taken of an actual Ceramic, Wood, and Fur piece I created. It wasn’t meant to be a photograph, but after I took the picture for entrance into the Booth Artist Guild show, I thought it looked pretty good. So I submitted it to the BPG exhibit. It started out as just ceramic spurs. Then I decided to add a belt. When I placed them on the old piece of wood—it needed one other element, thus the fur. The actual piece is: Ceramic, Wood, and Fur—8” x 22” x 5” high. Waiting Still by Lawrence Coleman $300.00 “Waiting Still” Pastels and daydreams came to mind when creating this piece. A very elegant and graceful dancer.
Majestic to Mundane by Scott Blaker $200.00 In the 1960s and 70s Tulsa, once acclaimed for its abundance of stunning Art Deco structures, succumbed to the fad for modernistic architecture, resulting in wildly conflicting styles in juxtaposition with each other. Perhaps nowhere is this more apparent than it is between the Gothic Revival Holy Family Cathedral and the International Style Cities Service building, located on adjacent blocks.
Fort Clinch Windows by Cherry Blaker $200.00 I have been a hobbyist photographer for a number of years now, thanks to my husband, who got me started. This photo was taken at Fort Clinch on Amelia Island in Florida. Fort Clinch was built in 1847 and was used during the Civil War. It was partially restored in the 1900s. Ft. Clinch is an interesting place to visit with a camera. I was drawn to the bricks and arched windows.
Double Trouble by Jenn Cardinell $580.00 SECOND PLACE WINNER & MEMBER”S CHOICE WINNER While visiting a friend in Colorado, I was given a surprise gift. Knowing I love wildlife, she had arranged a visit to a protected area, a chance to see wolves in their natural habitat. Upon arriving our guide told us there was no guarantee we would see wolves due to the expansive acreage. That was ok because it was a beautiful winter day just to enjoy the woods. As we walked we heard something to our left and looked left. Then something to our right caught our attention. To our delight these two beauties were coming directly toward us. The guide (carrying a large stick) had us step back immediately. Fortunately for us the wolves seemed to be on a mission. They kept their eyes fixed on us as they continued on their way. I was lucky to get one shot with my little point-and-shoot as the guide pushed me behind him. One of those moments you never ever forget. Best Gift Ever!
Lynx by Bob Caspar $300.00 This Image, entitled LYNX was taken in November, 29, 2021 at Old Car City in White Georgia, which is an automotive graveyard open to the public. This chain hanging from the window of an old truck had such depth and color that it drew my attention to it. I loved how the metal turned to rust. I live in Chatsworth, Georgia with my wife Kathi, and our dog, Cooper. We are retired & spend our time hiking, traveling, and enjoying our lives. We moved to Georgia from New York City in 2000 and lived in Canton until 2018 when we moved to our former weekend home in Chatsworth I took up digital photography in early 2017, after having been away from film photography for many years. My images have been displayed in the Gilmer Arts & Heritage Association, The Cherokee County Arts Center, The Murray County Council, The Georgia Marble Festival, Art Walk 2022 in Jasper, The Harris Arts Center in Calhoun, The Downtown Gallery in Cartersville, The Blue Ridge Mountains Art Association and the Booth Western Museum in Cartersville, GA.
Milkweed Posy by Linda Coatsworth $195.00 HONORABLE MENTION \"This time the fluffs of the Butterfly Milkweed presented themselves in a Posy style. Using natural light on the porch with the sun just right, I had to wait between short gusts of wind to capture the fluffs still enough for maximum sharpness. “
Laguna Morning by Lyle Currier $155.00 “Laguna Morning” was captured while waiting one morning last Spring for a Mexican fishing boat’s crew, I was intrigued by the morning light and reflections from the water of the lagoon.
Master and Apprentice by Lyle Currier $155.00 “Master and Apprentice” is a street shot that I happened upon while shopping in a small Mexican town last year. I never knew if the street busker had the little boy shilling for him or if it was just serendipity, but I thought it was great fun.
Coastal Life by Chris Dahl $295.00 I was in the Jekyll Island area doing some photography with some friends. We had been all over the Island for several days and on this evening, we decided to go to the Old Town area Historic District also known as the “Millionaire's Village\". I scouted all around the Old Town area looking for a good spot to capture the sunset. I found this location with the pier and restaurant and in the foreground, there were lovely mud flats with grass growing in it. It all adds up to a lovely image that reflects Coastal Life. It was very nice watching all the people walk around and enjoy what Coastal Life has to offer on a beautiful evening. This image was capture using a Nikon Z7, iso 100, Lens at 24mm, F/13 and 3/10 second and was captured on April 9, 2022, in Jekyll Island GA.
Wood Duck with Reflection by Ken Davis $750.00 The wood duck on a small pond at my farm. Cape Buffalo by Ken Davis $750.00 The Cape Buffalo had just had a fight with another alpha male at the watering hole. The dust had not settled when I got the shot from hinds in Zimanga.
Frog Lock by Robert Davis $125.00 I am a landscaper and I find much of my inspiration in nature. I'm a bit of a shutterbug. This little frog was spotted when I was just putting tools up in an old shed. Seemed as though he was wanting to know the passcode for the lock. The frog was kind enough to let me take a plethora of photos of all angles and closeups. Thankfully he wasn't stuck and didn't see him the next day.
Wildside by heather Finley $160.00 My image is titled Wild Side. It was taken this past year on a bucket list trip to see the wild mustangs at McCullough Peeks in Wyoming. This was taken on our last day- these two mustang stallions put on a show for us. This is Traveler and Chaco. I enjoyed the time we spent with the herd. I have many images and plan to make myself a book so that I may enjoy looking at them again and again.
The Edge of Royal Gorge by Clay Fisher $395.00 While visiting New Mexico last year, the journey lead me to the surrounding area of Taos which included the famous Royal Gorge. While I didn’t find much inspiration in photographing the gorge itself, I was drawn to the beautiful landscape in the distance of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The tree in the foreground offered me the perfect element to frame and emphasize the expansive landscape along with capturing the color palette that is so prominent in that part of the southwest. And if you look closely, you can see the very top edge of the gorge across the bottom of the image.
Sweet Taste of Summer by Sharon Fuente $379.00 “Sweet Smell of Summer\" was taken with a Nikon Z6 in studio. The flower and background were chosen for a monochromic look. The ice cream cone was hand held and the shot was taken with the camera on a tripod with a trigger. The hand was later taken out in post processing. Studio strobes were used for lighting.
SW Roadtrip by Shari Garnsey $550.00 The threat of rain looming in the distance makes for a dramatic contrast to the colorful rock layers that are Zion National Park's signature. This shot was taken from the Zion Mount Carmel Highway on the way to Bryce Canyon.
Country Line Can Survive by Anne Goetze $2,800.00 In a way to express my emotions and passion for light in life, I pursue the visual thru painting and photography. I like to experiment with the medium of oils and to work on different surface materials. Having a background as a retouch artist before digital came along, I learned the art of manipulating the photograph by hand. The technique has developed over time by blending the two mediums of painting and photography together. Beginning with a toned black and white, I apply layers of oil in glazes, often using the old Marshall oils. My palette consists of a split primary of warm and cool versions of color and the use of certain transparent colors. As the value, temperature, and colors are laid in, I am working on the 'push and pull' of the image… between realism to impressionism, and then back again. I consider art to be a very spiritual thing..being in relationship with the great Creator God. And that allows my world to see at its very core..beauty. Beauty that gives purpose. Purpose that helps direct choices and the documentation of subject matter. The Nun Series 'Pray To Love,' opened a dimension that holds a deep place in my heart. With this particular body of work, I added a mixture of ashes (wood) as an organic material to represent the connection that I feel with the natural world and how we are all \"ashes to ashes, dust to dust”. But love, which is beauty… is external.
Along the Byway by Susan James $185.00 This farmhouse was seen while driving Poplar Springs Rd. in Cobb County, GA on April 30, 2022. Intended for submission to the NG3C Shootout, it turned out I was standing 70 ft outside of Paulding County so the image was disqualified. Still, it is a pleasant farm scene that translated well to photogravure.
Peace in the Valley by Dean Kelley $250.00 “Peace in the Valley” is the combination of several images. Each image could stand on its own. But, by combining them a more compelling photograph is created. Photoshop and Topaz were used to produce this image. Masking, gradients, burning, and dodging were some of the tools used in the process. My goal for the viewer is to receive as much joy looking at the image as I did in creating it.
School Day Memories by Howard Kaplan $225.00 Memorabilia - old photographs, postcards and autograph books, mean so much to those who have treasured them for many years. Yet, one day they are on an estate sale table for a dollar or two and these memories and their histories are sold by those for whom these items no longer have any meaning, Over the years I have accumulated random items from these sales and have been using them to create still-life photographs. Hopefully this is also a way to preserve some of their stories.
Waiting for the Train by Micheal Lerch 24” height X 35 3/4” width $600.00 A color photograph of a CSX Locomotive and train passing the Marietta Georgia Welcome Center (which is in the old railway station) and a mural of two persons (who appear to be waiting for the train). It was 8:08 PM July 10th, 2021. I was crossing the railroad tracks near the Marietta, Georgia Welcome Center when I heard a train whistle. The sky was dramatic, the scene was attractive. I had just purchased a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra cell phone and wanted to use the camera. I laid down on the sidewalk (the phone was on the ground) and took a photo of the moving train about every second as it approached. I choose this image because of the position of the train, the welcome center sign, and the mural (it looks like passengers “Waiting for the Train”). I love the colors and the drama of the train and the amazing evening sky.
Sitting Pretty by John Mariana $725.00 \"The little green frog is only 1 inch big. And, he looks so happy. The reflection of him and the flower creates a special presentation. The colors are compliments to his green presence.\"
Tiny Dancer by Steve Mellish $200.00 Every once in a while, you get the perfect light. I was photographing young ballet dancers from a local studio and had the opportunity to catch the light and this young lady. The light was coming into the room from a broken window in an old factory, now repurposed as a multi-room art studio. The room still had remnants of old machinery on a shelf and it had this great piece of furniture. Obviously though the focus was the ballerina, she was smart and funny, she also taught me some of the terms used in dance. Tiny Dancer is a combination of great light, great subject and the models hard work and experience in dance.
Your Price by John Meyers $120.00 I took this walk-by street shot of a street artist bargaining price with a customer a short distance down the hill from the entrance to St. George’s Castle in Lisbon, Portugal, this past fall. One could add the artist’s presence in the area to past occupants, including Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans, and Moors. Judging by the fellow’s outfit, he is likely an elegant and precise painter – never drips, splats, fuss, or muss.
Stained Light Stairwell by Kelly Mills $375.00 Apples and Oranges by Kelly Mills $375.00 It’s all about the light and a moment in time, whether it’s a photograph of my godson engrossed in his iPad or the winter sun illuminating a chapel stairwell wall.
Mono Lake at Sunset by John Minnick $700.00 This breathtaking image was captured at Mono Lake, California while on a photography workshop with a world-renowned photographer who studied with Ansel Adams assistant, we stopped here during the late afternoon till dusk to capture the beauty from our own perspective. I hope you enjoy this image as much as we do. Mono Lake Tufa State Natural Reserve The reserve was established to preserve the spectacular \"tufa towers,\" calcium-carbonate spires and knobs formed by interaction of freshwater springs and alkaline lake water. It also protects the lake surface itself as well as the wetlands and other sensitive habitat for the 1 – 2 million birds that feed and rest at Mono Lake each year. Mono Lake is a majestic body of water covering about 65 square miles. It is an ancient lake, over 1 million years old -- one of the oldest lakes in North America. It has no outlet. Throughout its long existence, salts and minerals have washed into the lake from Eastern Sierra streams. Freshwater evaporating from the lake each year has left the salts and minerals behind so that the lake is now about 2 1/2 times as salty as the ocean and very alkaline. Location/Directions Highway 395, 13 miles east of Yosemite National Park, near the town of Lee Vining, California.
Reflections of the Past by John Minnick $450.00 THIRD PLACE WINNER This unique image was captured at Bodie, a former gold-mining town in California while on a photography workshop with a world- renowned photographer who studied with Ansel Adams assistant. We spent the better part of one summer afternoon capturing images of the remaining historic buildings. This image depicts both the inside of one of the merchant stores in monochrome as well as a colorful reflection of the Standard Mining Companies’ many buildings surrounding the town. I hope you enjoy this image as much as we do. Bodie is a former gold-mining town and State Historic Park in California’s Bodie Hills, near the Nevada border. This 19th- century ghost town encompasses numerous original buildings in varying states of decay, plus artifacts and the Masonic Cemetery. By 1879, the small town had boomed to a population of 10,000. Like many Wild West towns in the gold rush era, Bodie developed a reputation for lawlessness. At its peak, Bodie had over 60 saloons, gambling halls, opium dens, three breweries, and a red light district–like an Old West version of Las Vegas. The gold and silver couldn’t last forever, however. By 1882, the town’s population had declined significantly. By 1886, only 1,500 residents remained and a massive fire in 1892 pretty well ended Bodie’s productive history. Today, people visit to walk the deserted streets of this abandoned California mining town known as Bodie. In 1962, Bodie ghost town was designated a state historic park and a National Historic Landmark. Park managers have chosen to leave this national historic site in a “state of arrested decay,” which means they’re allowing Bodie to remain as is without any major renovations. Bodie State Historic Park of California is located in the Eastern Sierra in Mono County, close to Bridgeport, June Lake, Lee Vining, Mono Lake and the east entrance to Yosemite National Park. It is located in a remote area accessed by State Route 270, seven miles south-east of Bridgeport.
Deep Purple by Jeffrey Mitchell $275.00 Aside from the fact that purple is my favorite color and orchids my favorite flower … and after 60+ years of shooting 100’s of flowers … this is my favorite Floral Portrait. To be specific … phalaenopsis schilleriana … is the most common variety of the plant that is sold by florists for exhibition in one’s home, office, etc. I'm particularly attracted to the bending arch of each branch and the progressive development of the flower from the nut-like bud at the lower end through all the stages of growth up to the fully mature flower at the opposite end.
Lettuce Leaf Slug by Janerio Morgan $325.00 Lettuce Leaf Slug. Taken at about 60’ in Bonaire on a scuba dive in November 2022. The slug's typical color is a pale green to a bright blue. Some slugs have been seen with highlights of yellow mixed the green or blue. Maximum size is 5cm (approx. 2”) long and 3cm (approx. 1”) wide. Camera settings f14, 250s, ISO 640, two Inon strobes, Nauticam housing.
Autumn in Amicalola by Fred Ortyl $300.00 The photograph “Autumn at Amicalola” is an unusual take in photographing waterfalls. This shot was taken from the top of Amicalola Falls and not the normal waterfall photograph showing water cascading down into the pools below. From the chosen location, the river takes the eyes of the viewer from the top of the falls into Amicalola State Park and the resulting beautiful colors seen during the fall of year. The two bare trees provide a subtle frame focusing the observer onto the kaleidoscopic color in the center. To complete the landscape, the background provides a glimpse of the Blue Ridge Mountains as a fantastic scene to complete the show.
Jardine Winterscape by Jim Owens $175.00 This is a favorite building to shoot. It sits above Gardner, MT near the north entrance to Yellowstone Park. Besides this small building on the pond, there are old mining buildings and cabins near by. I have shot this particular building in different seasons…each season bringing a different light and colors. This area was hard hit by flooding in April and the fate of this small building and the surrounding area is unknown.
Woodbine Winter by Leslie McCrary Owens $175.00 The Woodbine Camping and Hiking area on the Stillwater River in the Custer National Forest is a favorite place to shoot photographs. It is always deserted and quiet in the winter. On this particular day in December we found the river had a beautiful greenish cast to the ice and water. There was no wind, the trees were piled with fresh snow, and the only sound was the river. This area was hit hard by extreme flooding this past April. We have not been able to get back to this place since and can only hope it is still there.
Wants Out by Evelyn Pesiri $120.00 Evelyn Pesiri started taking photographs long ago. She found that photography helped her see. She took this photograph at a boarding stable near her home in Ellenwood, Georgia. This beautiful, kind horse wants attention. He “Wants Out.” If he were mine, I’d take him for a walk in the park.
Maple and Dry Creek by John Pless $180.00 I was in Zion National Park this past November making some fall color pictures. This was on the first day and we were up in the mountains surrounding the park. I followed this wash for about a quarter of a mile going down the twists and turns with beautiful scenery at every turn. It was an overcast afternoon with rain in the forecast for overnight. I found this composition and was able to make a couple of shots on it. Good thing, that night it rained for a little while then turned to snow. By the next morning there was maybe 4 inches of snow and the wash was about a 3 feet deep raging creek. Awesome conditions for photography and a beautiful place.
Lagoon by Lesley Price $650.00 Every year my husband and I return to South Africa for our annual holiday. On the East coast between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth we go to a small town known as Plettenberg Bay. The area along this coast line has an estuary known as “Keurbooms.” In the area of approximately 4 Kilometers there lies a wave-dominated, micro-tidal coast. It has a dune-topped sandy barrier that is connected to its two source rivers which join and then flow into the sea. The area is an ideal for both sea and land birds, local and migrating, that come to breed. It was here that I joined a group of my birding friends to photograph.
Sunset in Bandon by John Quinn $300.00 This image was captured in May 2021 during a photo tour of the Oregon Coast. Bandon is on the southern Oregon coast near California. Its beautiful rock formations just off shore attract photographers worldwide. I was fortunate to experience this wonderful cloud filled sunset.
Lone Steer by Michael Rogers $500.00 I am a Graphic Design Director by profession, and have been an enthusiast photographer for many years. Through my exposure to the arts over the years, I have developed a deep interest in Black-and- White Fine Art Photography. Using contrast, texture, shadow and the removal of color, I am allowed to alter reality and create a view of the world that is solely mine. I made the frame for Lone Steer and used a burning technique I believe best enhances the texture and mood of the image. The frame is finished with Tung Oil to seal the wood and to keep the charred surface from rubbing off.
Window View by Stella Spyrou $195.00 Lindale Mill presents many photo opportunities! This view through the broken window attracted my attention!! It shows enough to know what you can see if you step outside, but at the same time, it conseles enough to keep a little mystery.
Old Tin Cup by Pat Stephenson $150.00 This gentleman was helping serve chuckwagon food at an event. After his job was done, he sat down to enjoy his first cup of coffee of the day. He graciously allowed me to take this photo which is presented on a parchment background to reflect a day from another time, making it timeless.
Farm to Market by Patti Thomas $225.00 Who doesn't love old red farm trucks? It brings back nostalgic thoughts of farmers bringing their produce from the fields into town to market. This particular truck is located on Copper Creek Farm in Calhoun, where acres of sunflowers bloom in the summer months. I captured this image last year while on a photography outing with other Booth Photography Guild members.
Reflections of a City by Kathleen Towns $100.00 This photograph was taken one Saturday morning in Cartersville, Georgia. I was struck by the reflection of a city just waking up, much like our first look in the mirror when we get up! The shiny angles of the door frame it for our inspection.
Waiting for Sunday by Ken Wilkens $195.00 This copper plate photogravure print is of the Cade's Cove Missionary Baptist Church, located in Townsend TN. The source photograph was taken in October 2022, by Ken Wilkens. Susan James is responsible for plate creation and edition printing.
Darian Marina by Al Wood $250.00 FIRST PLACE WINNER This image of docked boats was made in Darien Georgia at a marina on the Darien River just as the sun was rising. Darien is a small town on the Georgia coast that is very photogenic. County Jailer’s House by Al Wood #250.00 CURATOR”S CHOICE WINNER County Jailer’s House: This image of the Dickson County Jailer's house was made in Charlotte Tennessee, the Dickson County county seat, just as the sun peeped over the hills. The County Jail is actually attached to the house on the left side. Neither the house nor the jail are currently being used.
Waxwing with Berry by Diane Yancey $160.00 It was springtime in Winston, GA, and the yearly caravan of birds were visiting our farm. The Cedar Waxwings flew in to eat berries on the dogwoods and mahonia hollies. How beautiful they are with their sleek gray feathers with a red spot on their wings and a yellow tip on their tail. They come and go in one day, and I was excited to spot them before they took flight. Usually, they were high up in the trees and not easily photographed. This time a few were eating the berries off the holly near the porch of our house. I grabbed my camera and slowly opened the door, trying to not scare them away. I held my breath and got several photographs. Of all the birds that visited our home, they were the most beautiful to me.
Artist at Work by Diane Yancey $175.00 HONORABLE MENTION My husband, Jack, and I were fortunate to sightsee with a Georgia Tech Alumni Travel group. In October, 2021, we boarded a river cruise on the Danube River in Europe. One place we visited was Budapest, Hungary. While there, we toured the sprawling Buda Castle high on a hill overlooking the Danube riverfront and Budapest. Buda Castle, or Royal Buda Palace, dates back to the 13th century. This castle had many levels on this huge hill and many alcoves on its outside landings. The sun was shining brightly on its light stone walls but it had dark shadows in the many alcoves. I photographed an artist who was sitting quietly and painting in a dark corner. The outer walls were bright with sunshine and he appeared very dark in the photograph, so I almost did not notice him when I reviewed my photos when I got home. On a second look, I remembered that the man was there and when processing the photo I saw how artistic and photogenic the artist himself was.
An Afternoon View by Bob Zell $475.00 This view is just a few miles north of Albuquerque, NM and was captured in mid-October of 2022. The afternoon sun seems to sink into and around the mountains and desert scenery. The abandoned home, along with a variety of shadows, created a natural late afternoon view.
