After attending the 2017 Southern Wildlife Exposition (SEWE), Booth MuseumExecutive Director Seth Hopkins proposed the idea of a SEWE exhibition at the Booth featuring Georgiaartists. SEWE Artist Curator Natalie Henderson was delighted to partner with the Booth. We are excited toexhibit the work of not just one, but 13 artists in GA Wildlife Artists in SEWE: Southeastern WildlifeExposition, January 9 – March 11, 2018.So, what is SEWE? Celebrating its 36th year in 2018, the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition has grown tobe the largest event of its kind in the nation, attracting more than 500 artists and exhibitors from aroundthe globe who present their offerings to more than 40,000 attendees. A 3-day celebration of nature thathas earned a reputation for excellence, SEWE now hosts the world's foremost experts in wildlife andnature art, as well as conservation research and environmental education. It is the mission of SEWE topositively impact the local and statewide economies through increased tourism; to showcase the finestwildlife art available in the world; to invest in and positively influence wildlife and nature education throughspecialized programming; and to assist in the conservation of wildlife and the environment by creatingawareness and contributing financially to designated programs.Wildlife art is one of the most recognized and popular subjects in art because it depicts the universaltheme of the natural world and its wildlife. This exhibit includes approximately 35 juried paintings andsculptures with subject matter ranging from birds and bison, to Southern landscapes, and hunting andfishing scenes.Booth Museum Members are invited to view the exhibition in Borderlands Gallery on Thursday, January11, 2018. Refreshments will be served in The Café beginning at 5:30 pm. At 7:00 pm in BergmanTheatre, learn more about SEWE from Henderson and a panel discussion featuring artists Peggy Everett,Millie Gosch, Jan Perkins, and Chris Wilson.
