01 THE PUPPET Show The Kindergarten organised Puppet Show on th January , in Ram Manch. The students were in for a special treat with this puppet show which captured their attention and opened doors to their imagination. The children thoroughly enjoyed watching the story unfold before them. The show was based on the moral Unity is Strength. The students were excited to watch the story The Wise Peblo. t Fish puppets were used to depict the story how a school of small fish worked together to get rid of the big fish that threatened them. The colourful fish and the songs enthralled the audience. The show ended with a Hindi song machli jal ki rani hai to which the students enacted and danced. The concluding thought was that size doesn t matter, it is the teamwork and cooperation that can-do wonders. The squeals and the laughter of the students was the proof of the joy and fun they experienced during the show. Ms. Rekha Jim 01
02 BEST OUT OF Waste Creativity consists largely of rearranging what we know in order to find out what we do not know. BEST OUT OF WASTE is one such craft which follows this environmental friendly principle and at the same time creates useful and picturesque objects out of waste products. In order to make children aware of the uses of waste material, and to give them a lesson on reducing waste to save our future, a Best out of Waste ramp walk was organised at Ram Manch in Bhavans School on th January for Kindergarten students. Little hands and imaginative minds came together in a creative burst of energy. Students show- cased their talents by making dresses from waste material rather than using fabrics. They used paper plates, plastic bags, straws, cardboard, CD and many more. It was amazing to see their walk. The creativity and artistic streak of the children were observed. Ms. Loicy Ferrao 02
03 SPORTS Day The idiom All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy holds true even for the young learners. Sports, whether team-based or individual, are great for children as they provide not just physical activity, but also help build children s self-esteem, confidence, social skills and motivate them to excel in life. In recognition of the importance of sports in a child s life, Bhavan s Abu Dhabi, Kindergarten section celebrated its Annual Sports Day on th January . During the fun-filled day, children participated in various races, drills and exercises. The day started with a drill by all students of Junior and Senior KG classes. The students entertained the audience with a spectacular drill where they performed various exercises. Children participated in large numbers in engaging and innovative races like Flat Race, Drop the Ball, Bag Pack Race, Cross the Hurdles and Hula Hoops Race. At the end of the event, the proud winners of the races were felicitated with medals and presented with a certificate. For little ones, it is important that they participate in Sports Day as they gradually get to understand that daily sports and games are a part of life. Children and teachers immensely enjoyed the Sports Day. Ms. Roopa Prasad 03
04 PARENT Corner Feeling Downie, eat a Brownie… Brownies are definitely an all-time favorite bar cookie. It was born in the U.S.A. Brownies are so named because of their dark brown color, not because they contain chocolate. In fact, the first brownie recipes didn t even contain chocolate. In Fannie Farmer s Boston Cooking School Cook Book the Brownie recipe calls for butter, sugar, Porto Rico molasses, an egg, flour, and pecan. But our brownie has evolved over the last century with all sorts of flavors. In fact, I myself had tried different recipes as these are my kid s all-time favorite. The recipe we are going to discuss here does contain chocolate, actually a lot of chocolate, as chips and cocoa powder. So it has a deli- cious mouth-watering chocolate flavor with a rich moist texture. They are best served hot, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of chocolate syrup. The fun lies when the kids join in the cooking as it is very easy and simple. Ingredients ounces grams semisweet or bittersweet chocolate, chopped cup stick grams unsalted butter, cut into pieces tablespoons grams cocoa powder cup grams granulated white sugar teaspoon pure vanilla extract large eggs cup grams all-purpose flour teaspoon salt Directions Preheat oven to degrees C and place the rack in the centre of the oven. Butter or spray with a nonstick cooking spray an inch cm square pan. Melt the chocolate and butter in a large stainless steel bowl placed over a saucepan of simmer- ing water. Remove from heat and stir in the cocoa powder and sugar. Next, whisk in the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Finally, stir in the flour, salt and chocolate chips if using . Pour into the prepared pan and bake for about minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out with a little batter and a few moist clumps clinging to it. Do not over bake. Remove from oven and let cool on a wire rack. Serve at room temperature or chilled. These freeze very well. Makes brownies. LIFE IS SHORT…. EAT BROWNIES FIRST!!!!
