NCS DELHI BUZZ VOL .1 2022-2023 CBSE had organised board exams in two phases this year Term I and Term II. Term I in the month of December 2021 and Term II in the month of May- June 2022. Jaswardhan Singh stood first with an aggregate of 97.6% in the science stream. Manya Manra stood first with an overall score of 97% in the humanities stream. Md Shahid Jamal and Sidhant Anand stood first scoring 95% in the commerce stream. The results of CBSE board of class X for the session 2021-22 were overwhelming. Around 46% of the total students who appeared for the exam scored above 90%. Aaryan Agarwal - X C stood first with an aggregate of 99% , Amogh Singh Rathore - X C stood second with an overall score of 98% Aditya Kumar Gupta - X A and PriyaLakshmi Karthik - X C stood third scoring 97.8%. 2

NCS DELHI BUZZ VOL .1 2022-2023 In view of Earth Day Celebration, ‘A Letter to The Prime Minister’ event was conducted on 22 April 2022. Students took part in the event enthusiastically. They contributed their ideas to ‘Save Soil’ in the form of a letter to the honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. NCS DELHI BUZZ VOL .1 2022-2023 The World Meteorological Day was celebrated on 29 April 2022 to commemorate the establishment of the World Meteorological Organization on 23 March 1950 and the essential contributions that National Meteorological and Hydrological Services make to the safety and well-being of the society. Each year during these worldwide celebrations, there is a focus on a theme of topical interest. The theme for 2022 celebrations was ‘Early Warning and Early Action-Hydro Meteorological and Climate Information for Disaster Risk Reduction’. The theme recognizes the role that the society plays in shaping our nation. It also focuses on the crucial role of meteorological services in strengthening the safety and resilience of communities from the catastrophic events. On account of World Meteorological Day celebration, Essay writing and Poster making competitions were conducted. The prize winning essays were read and the posters were demonstrated on the stage by the winners. The event culminated with the prize distribution ceremony wherein all the winners were handed over the prizes by Cmde AA Abhyankar, Commodore(NOM). It was indeed a applaudable and impeccable show of talent tendered by participants and equally enriching and educative session for the audience. 14
NCS DELHI BUZZ VOL .1 2022-2023 Yoga brings balance between body, soul and mind. It also helps us to understand the purpose of life and how to survive in the changing environment. The school celebrated International Yoga Day on 21 June 2022 in a grand manner. The day started with special live yoga session (KG-XII), yoga for Humanity and a workshop on importance of yoga (VI- IX). These special sessions were conducted by eminent yoga experts. Students performed several asana under the able guidance of yoga expert. Students later participated in yoga day activities with a great zeal. NCS DELHI BUZZ VOL .1 2022-2023 Eminent Persons' Talk Series is an ingenuity of the school to invite eminent personalities and stalwarts from various professional arenas. Students gain from the experiences of experts of diverse disciplines to become critical thinkers, better communicators and creative learners. As part of ‘Eminent Persons Talk Series’, Mr Anurag Tripathi, IRPS, Secretary CBSE visited NCS Delhi on 25 July 2022 and delivered a talk to students and teachers of the school. He emphasised on promoting 21st century skills such as communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity among students. He encouraged the teachers to use suitable pedagogical interventions and also insisted them to facilitate project- based, art-integrated, subject-integrated and activity-based learning. He dwelled on the need for teachers' training and learning from best practices of other educational institutions, and answered queries raised during Q and A session. The event was also attended by Cmde AA Abhyankar, Commodore (Naval Education) and officers from DNE. 16
NCS DELHI BUZZ VOL .1 2022-2023 ‘Founder’s day is the most important day for an institution. It is the day when a thought, a philosophy and a vision is transformed into concrete reality. The philosophy became the guiding star for the institution to take form, grow and become an invincible reality as the untiring efforts of great people led to the creation of the school back in 1965.’ Navy Children School's 57th Founders' day was celebrated on 02 August 2022 with a great sense of pride and joy. The special assembly began with an invocation to the Almighty. Ms Sujala Bandyopadhyay and Ms Shelly Malhotra reminisced their association with the school and highlighted the growth and progress of the institution in their presence. The students presented the cultural programme and some adorable acts. To conclude the day, Vice Principal, Ms Monisha Ahlawat addressed on the occasion. The assembly culminated with the school song ‘Our Pride’ being sung with immense pride. 17
NCS DELHI BUZZ VOL .1 2022-2023 Model UN is a popular activity for those interested in learning more about how the UN operates. Hundreds of thousands of students worldwide take part every year at all educational levels. Many of today’s leaders in law, government, business and the arts – including at the UN itself – participated in Model UN as student. The United Nations Model UN Programme aims to build and maintain strong links between the UN and Model UN participants across the globe. The NCS MUN 2022 aimed at discussing and assessing the situation of Russia and Ukraine following the special military operation by Russia on 24 February 2022. The topic of the discussion was ‘Reviewing the Situation in Ukraine’. The delegates engaged in intense debate and discussion to express their stance on the issue. The delegates were able to confer about the real cause of the issue, to understand the viewpoint of the countries involved and express their ideas and suggestions to resolve the matter in a diplomatic manner. 18
NCS DELHI BUZZ VOL .1 2022-2023 The school celebrated the 75th Independence Day, themed as ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahostav’ with great passion and fervour on 13 August 2022. The school campus was beautifully decorated with flags, tricolour balloons and portraits of our Martyrs to commemorate the day. On this occasion, the National flag was distributed to all students under ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ programme as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav campaign. Ms Ritu Manik Sharma and Mr Manmohan Singh illustrated the code of conduct to handle Tiranga, so that the honour and dignity of the flag is upheld. The celebrations commenced with a prayer song followed by an exuberant presentation of patriotic song, a dance on national integration and role-play of freedom fighters. The festivities concluded with the Vice-Principal's address and the recital of the School Song and National Anthem. 19

NCS DELHI BUZZ VOL .1 2022-2023 Navy Children School Delhi organises the Award Ceremony each year to commend and felicitate students for their academic excellence. The Award Ceremony for the year 2022-23 was held on 29 August 2022 in the school auditorium to acclaim the noteworthy accomplishments of students in School Examinations and CBSE Examinations 2021-22. Mrs Kala Harikumar, President NWWA gave away prizes to academic toppers of the school as part of Award Ceremony. A total of 104 awards instituted by Navy Education Society (NES), NWWA, PTA and INS India were presented to the eligible students on this occasion. The other dignitaries present were Mrs Sanskruti Ghormade, Vice President NWWA, Cmde AA Abhyankar Commodore (Naval Education), Cmde Satish Shenai, Commanding Officer INS India and other guests and invitees from NWWA and PTA. Mrs Kala Hari Kumar in her address congratulated the award winners and exhorted them to continue with same zeal and enthusiasm to achieve their goals and contribute towards nation building. She commended the role played by the teachers in shaping up the future of the students thereby contributing to the betterment of the society at large. During her visit to the school, President NWWA went around the premises and interacted with students and teachers. She also interacted with students who have undergone Service Selection Board (SSB) Mentoring program (A NWWA initiative) along with their parents and assured to streamline the support provided by NWWA. 21
NCS DELHI BUZZ VOL .1 2022-2023 Teachers’ Day was celebrated on 5 September 2022 in the school with pomp and grandeur. The event was organised to acknowledge the dedication and hard work of the teachers. Students expressed their gratitude, regard, and respect towards their teachers on that day. Vice Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, COP, attended Teachers’ Day celebrations at NCS Delhi as Chief Guest. The function was also attended by Vice Admiral Suraj Berry, CPS, Cmde AA Abhyankar Commodore (Naval Education), officers from other directorates of IHQ MoD (Navy), INS India, PTA members , teachers , staff of NCS Delhi, Sankalp and Little Angels schools at Delhi. COP felicitated six staff members of NCS Delhi on completion of 10 and 20 years of service in the school. In his address to the teachers, COP expressed his gratitude and highlighted role of teachers in creating a responsible and sensitive society. He also exhorted the teachers to keep themselves updated with the latest trends in the field of education and technology to cater for ever changing continuum of learning. The Chief Guest also lauded the efforts put in by the teachers in providing quality education to students across all Naval stations and appreciated the initiatives of NCS Delhi in creation, augmentation of academic facilities and infrastructure. 22
NCS DELHI BUZZ VOL .1 2022-2023 Navy Children School, New Delhi conducted Investiture Ceremony for Academic Year 2022-23 for Senior Wing on 12 September 2022. Vice Admiral Suraj Berry, Controller Personnel Services, IHQ MoD (Navy) attended the function as Chief Guest. The function was also attended by Cmde AA Abhyankar, Commodore (Naval Education), Cmde Sanjay Nirmal, Commodore (Naval Education) II, Cmde Satish Shenai, NM Commanding Officer INS India, PTA members and parents of the appointees. 36 students from Class XI & XII donned the leadership roles after undergoing rigorous selection process. The students were presented with appointment sashes by the Chief Guest on this occasion. Master Samrat Vashisht and Miss Tamanna Sharma of Class XII were appointed as Head Boy and Head Girl, and Master Advait Pisolkar and Miss Kritika Saxena of Class XI as the Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl. In his address to the students, the Chief Guest complimented the efforts of the previous appointees and exhorted the new incumbents to carry out their duties with pride, dedication and integrity while striving for excellence in all endeavours. He also urged them to work with passion while having a vision for better school, society and the country at large. The Chief Guest complimented the role of teachers in imparting quality education to the students and stressed upon the need for grooming the students for future leadership roles. Later, the Chief Guest also interacted with appointees and teachers over tea. 23

The function was also attended by Cmde Satish Shenai, Commanding Officer, INS India, officers, PTA members and parents of the appointees. 36 students from Class V were bestowed the leadership roles after undergoing rigorous selection process. The students were presented with appointment sashes by Chief Guest on this occasion. Chief Guest complimented efforts of the previous appointees and exhorted the new incumbents to carry out their duties with pride, dedication and integrity. He also urged the new student council to lead by example and be dedicated towards service to the school and their fellow students. 24
NCS DELHI BUZZ VOL .1 2022-2023 A day was devoted to the Grandparents of the Kindergartners of Navy Children School. They were invited for a special treat in the form of Grandparents' Day celebration. The Principal, Mrs Oshima Mathur welcomed all the Grandparents and parents. The programme began with an invocation, as dance is said to be the purest art form. The LKG Children performed to peppy songs, which were also about grandparents. The audience got to watch the skit which was all about how the universe was created. The Dada-Dadi song performance held everyone spellbound! The Headmistress, Mrs Vrishali Yadav rendered the vote of thanks. This endeavour by the children and their teachers was well appreciated. The Grandparents were given a token of love and affection made by children and amazing memories to cherish for a long time. 25
NCS DELHI BUZZ VOL .1 2022-2023 Inter House award ceremony for classes VI-XII was conducted on 09 September 2022 for the competitions held till the month of August. All sports and cultural activities certificates were distributed by principal ma'am to the winners. A group of 460 students won certificates in different activities and around 1700 certificates were distributed to the winners. 26
NCS DELHI BUZZ VOL .1 2022-2023 The Award ceremony for Inter- House Co-curricular and Sports Competitions for the Primary school was held on 23 September 2022. Principal Ms Oshima Mathur graced the occasion and felicitated the students who had won prizes in various competitions. A total of 960 certificates was awarded to the winners. Ma’am praised the enthusiasm showed by the young students and further motivated them to give their best in each activity. 27

The lush green environs with the outdoor gallery housing a variety of locomotives were delightful. NCS DELHI BUZZ VOL .1 2022-2023 School organised trips to Chandigarh, Shimla, Jim Corbett and Nainital. A total of 598 students went for the trip. Students had a gala time learning about the art, culture and flora and fauna of the visited places. 39
NCS DELHI BUZZ VOL .1 2022-2023 Workshops help in keeping pace with the advancements in the world and ensure efficiency of work among us by enhancing our knowledge. The school organised and conducted various workshops for students and teachers during the first term of this academic session 2022-2023. The topics for teachers ranged from Communication Skills to Life Skills, the POCSO act, Healing & Positive Thinking , from Motivation to Fitness 365. For students’ Workshops were conducted on Story telling ,Cyber security and Digital well being. 40
NCS DELHI BUZZ VOL .1 2022-2023 An introductory session of the Service Selection Board (SSB) mentoring programmer was conducted (under the aegis of NWWA (NR)) for students of Navy Children School on 12 May 2022 at Varunika, Chanakya Bagh. Vice Admiral Suraj Berry, Controller Personnel Services IHQ MoD (Navy) and Chairman School Management Committee addressed the students and parents, urging them to pursue a career in the Armed Forces and to make the most of this opportunity to realise their dreams. Retired SSB qualified officers gave an overview of preparation for the SSB. The first batch of SSB mentoring was conducted from 17 to 28 May 2022 for 27 students. This is the second initiative of its kind undertaken by NWWA. The first one was initiated in Mumbai in August 2021 under the stewardship of Mrs Kala Hari Kumar during her tenure as President NWWA (WR). 41

NCS DELHI BUZZ VOL .1 2022-2023 The General Body Meeting of PTA was held in school auditorium on 17 Sep 2022. Mrs Oshima Mathur, Principal Navy Children School Delhi and Chairperson PTA presided over the meeting. At the outset, she welcomed all the existing members & parents present to the meeting. Mrs Oshima Mathur thanked all the parents and PTA members for their continuous support to the school throughout the year and mentioned that the school is fortunate for having such a wonderful team, for the trust they have in school programmes towards the benefit of the students. She also presented the progress report of the school and thanked Cdr Sajid A Khan, Secretary PTA for delivering opening remarks. Mrs Oshima Mathur briefed about the plural approach of teaching practices in each period and explained multi-disciplinary class, satellite library, DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) programme, importance of Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL), Language Lab, Evacuation Plan, Fire Drill plans, SSB Training, School Cafeteria, THOTS programme with the members and parents present in the meeting. Chairperson Cdr Sajid Khan delivered the academic and beyond academic achievements of PTA for AY 2021-22. Following this, the elections were conducted for various posts of PTA for the academic year 2022-23. Cdr Sajid Khan congratulated the new office bearers and thanked everyone for their active contribution and shared a beautiful poem on education. 46
NCS DELHI BUZZ VOL .1 2022-2023 The ‘Awakened Citizen Programme’ developed by the Ramakrishna Mission, is a comprehensive three-year programme based on Swami Vivekananda’s message of an infinite potential in every individual, which can be manifested as excellence in every walk of life. Navy Children School, New Delhi enrolled in the Awakened Citizen Programme in the year 2018. NCS Delhi has enthusiastically conducted this programme for a period of three years consecutively from Classes 6 to 8. The programme is designed in a discussion-oriented manner where the learners analyse various explorations, real life situations and role models. The learners think about, discuss, and discover the consequences of various choices and hence get empowered with a decision-making framework for life. This programme does not impose any dos and don’ts, but enables the learners to develop faith in themselves, discover values and make responsible choices. 47
