SATS was one of the three finalists selected by the Jury to attend the 31st IATA Ground Handling Conference, held from 22-25 April 2018, at the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel in the Qatari capital, Doha. More than 800 industry leader delegates selected the winner via a voting exercise. We are incredibly proud to present the news of SATS being crowned as the winner of the “IGHC Innovator 2018” award based on our entry - the smart-watch for technical ramp operations. The smart-watch enables hands-free communication via a Bluetooth headset that is incorporated into the ear protection via innovative technology. However, it does much more - including the automatic assignment of ad-hoc tasks, showing where the staff are located, and monitoring the time spent on a job. Icons are used to display an array of information, making real-time integrated operations possible. SATS won the Best Technological Collaboration Award at the Annual Singapore International Chamber of Commerce (SICC) Awards 2018. The SICC gala dinner was held at Sands Expo & Convention Centre on 9 May 2018. The awards aim to recognise successful industry collaborations and celebrate collaborations between big and small companies and across industries to create new products and services and/or resolve barriers to capacity growth SATS collaborated with EON Reality to design smart glasses that can give ramp –handling staff critical information in real time. Operators can use the glasses to scan visual markets found on baggage and cargo contained that provides details such as weight, unit numbers, loading sequence and the allocated position within the aircraft. This hands-free process improves safety and increases the accuracy and efficiency of baggage and cargo loading. Eddie Airline Representative SIN Ati Sinaga Frequent Passenger China Eastern Airlines JetStarBA12 on 10 March 2018 from SIN en route to LHR had a long delay on stand due to status message fault during tow backfrom the remote bay. SATS has once again displayed exemplary teamwork in handling our suspension.Passengers were in the gate-holding room while engineers were rectifying the defect. We had staff talking and taking careof passengers in the gate and at the lounge. Catering staff worked doubly hard to expedite 470 snack packs to the gate andRamp staff assisted engineers by offloading and reloading AKE and cargo so that they can get to the setup boxes betweenAFT, and FWD holds to swap the defect boxes. The snack packs arrived just when the crew gave boarding clearance.Passenger services staff, Catering staff and AIC staff picked up the boxes and started distributing snack packs to passengersas they were boarding, apologising for the delay and thanking them for their patience.It was excellent teamwork displayed by SATS! We have successfully departed a delayed flight with all happy passengers, andwe managed to make contact with every one of them, great work!Thank you for being with us!
