Quality products, great service and a dynamic team are the means to that end. Success is not about winning. It is, however, all about excelling. Reliability • Versatility • Cost Savings To whom it may concern, This is a recommendation for Wills Lee. I am a friend of Wills’ dad. As such, I have watched Wills grow up and develop a very useful skillset that I believe will help him succeed in his career. I have a mug on my desk that says, “The salesperson’s job starts when the customer says no.” When I interview people for positions in sales, I look for signs that the candidate has the abilities to overcome objections and to stay positive when faced with rejection. When “doors are slammed in their face,” some people give up, but the successful ones learn, adapt and work harder. I saw Wills do the latter repeatedly. When life and sports offered obstacles, Wills modified his approach, worked hard and overcame the challenges. Wills’ ability to overcome challenges is partially attributable to his optimism and positive outlook. Wills finds the positive in all situations and finds ways to improve further. He is persistent and always upbeat. It is infectious. Another important trait of successful people is strong communication skills. Wills is very willing to “break the ice” and carry conversations with anyone he meets. He will try to brighten the day of everyone he encounters. To say he is an extrovert is an understatement. On his resume, one can see evidence of success using his positive communication approach in his coaching at the youth and high school level as well as his ascent to Events Tour Director for the Albion College Admissions Office. While Wills has not worked for me, so I can’t speak to much of his on the job experience, I can say that he has the skillset to be successful dealing with people. Feel free to call me as a reference if you want more input from me. Sincerely, David M Mehney CEO 5085 Corporate Exchange Blvd. SE F X.X.X-XX Rev 0 Grand Rapids, MI 49512

From: Michael Goedde <[email protected]> Date: Thu, Dec 3, 2020 at 6:10 PM Subject: Recommendation Letter To: [email protected] <[email protected]> To whom it may concern, It is my honor to recommend William Lee for a position in the medical sales industry. I have known William for the better part of a decade now and have watched him grow into the man he is today. I have been in the medical field for over 20 years as a Sales Representative, Field Sales Trainer, and a Regional Sales Manager. William has the same qualities that I see and look for from successful people and potential candidates. What I find most engaging in William’s character is his personality. You will discover this trait after you meet him. He is a people person who enjoys meeting and engaging with others. I have witnessed him engage with customers at Butch’s Tackle and Marine and build relationships with the local clientele. William’s knowledge and ability to communicate in the fishing department has helped many a customer and provided profits as well for the marine. William brings energy, a willingness to learn, and a high commitment level to all of his activities. He has also shown a strong work ethic throughout his collegiate career. He has been a very good student, heavily involved in athletics/personal training, as well as working/volunteering throughout his time in college. I believe the skills he has developed directly relate to what it takes to be a highly successful sales person. William would be an excellent addition to any sales team. January 22, 2021 To Whom It May Concern, I am writing this recommendation letter on behalf of William Lee. On a personal level, I have known Wills since he was a young, energetic kid, all the way up through today, including his high school and college years. Wills has spent a tremendous amount of time in my home since he is a close friend of my son and our family. I have seen Wills grow into an incredibly nice and hard-working young man. He is actually one of the hardest working people I've met, whether that is on the basketball court, in school, or helping around the house. Wills is very kind, thoughtful, extremely personable, and humble. These personal traits would be an asset to any company and Wills' thoughtfulness, integrity and charisma would serve him well in the field as a sales professional. I have worked in sales leadership and I believe that Wills is very well suited to succeed in a relationship-oriented sales position. I’ve also seen Wills take great initiative in starting his own business, providing sports training for young athletes. He has done this for several years and has grown his business significantly. His ability to communicate and motivate others has driven his success with his business. I happily give my recommendation for Wills and I believe he would be a great team member, team player, and individual contributor. I would be happy to answer any questions if you would like to contact me directly. Best Regards, Cheryl Carpenter Vice President, West Elm Work - Williams Sonoma Inc. November 29, 2020 To Whom it May Concern, I am writing to recommend Wills Lee for sincere consideration for a role on your team or within your firm. I have known Wills most of his life and have shared or witnessed his character in many different situations including; him being a neighbor, a student, an athlete, a brother, a son, a grandson or simply a friend to others. Each of these roles contain different attributes and stresses that would expose flaws among the best of us. While there are several examples that I could cite, I believe that Wills possesses a passion and work ethic that is truly admirable. I recall how Wills shared his passion for sports by structuring, setting up and running coaching clinics for younger athletes that wanted to take their game to another level. This demonstrated a lot of confidence in his skills, an ability to lead others and willingness to take personal risks in the spirit to simply help others achieve their goals. Based on his humble and kind demeanor and our experience together, I can confidently recommend Wills for a position within your team or firm. If you would like to discuss his character with me, please phone me directly at 616-304-3325. Sincerely, Jim McLain
December 20, 2020 To Whom It May Concern, I am pleased to write this letter of reference on behalf of William (Wills) Lee for a position in sales. I have served as Wills’ academic advisor during his four years at Albion College, and I have taught him in two courses: LA101- Teaching and Nature and EDUC 202-Foundational Contexts of Education. While at Albion, Wills majored in Communication Studies and minored in Education Studies. He has a natural gift of building rapport and connecting with others, and is one of the kindest people I know. In the Teaching and Nature course, there were some students who were interested in the outdoors and some students interested in working with youth, but Wills was the rare student for whom both fields truly intersected. He stood out for knowledge of the outdoors and his passion and patience in sharing this knowledge with young people in a local school classroom as well during the fieldtrips at the Whitehouse Nature Center (WNC) that were facilitated by our class. Wills played and interacted with kindergarteners in a natural and joyous way. Through this course Wills received certification in Growing Up Wild ecology curriculum for ages 3-7. In EDUC 202 Wills completed a weekly field placement at the Marshall Opportunity High School and became more familiarized with the local community, and multiple diverse perspectives of schooling. Wills worked successfully on group projects as well as during in class teaching enactments. He has an outgoing personality and naturally aims to engage and connect with others. I have enjoyed getting to know Wills over the years. When I first met Wills it was clear that he was a confident and social person. Over the years, I have also come to know him as honest, sincere, and warm hearted. I admire the genuine care he displays for others. Additionally, he has a playful and humble sense of humor. Wills knows how to put others at ease. He is adept at building relationships and will be an enthusiastic and energetic addition to any work setting! Sincerely, Suellyn M. 11 December 2020 To Whom It May Concern: I’ve known Wills Lee since the first day of his first semester at Albion College. Through no real choice of his own, Wills ended up in a first-year writing class of mine, and since then, I’ve had the good fortune of teaching Wills in many other classes. I’ve also had the chance to serve as his advisor in a number of different capacities. As a result of this range of experiences with Wills, I’ve come to know him well—as a student and as a member of the Albion College community. I’m writing today to offer him an unqualified recommendation. If you’re reading this right now, it’s likely that Wills has come to you looking for a job; because this letter is written to a general rather than a specific audience, though, I don’t know exactly what that job is. But here’s what I do know. If I needed someone to help me run a small business, or someone to manage the crew remodeling my house, or someone to help me run a community recreation program, or someone to sell or market my latest invention, or even someone to watch my kid for me—if I needed, that is, someone I trust and depend on to do a complicated, difficult, and important job, I would feel confident calling on Wills. Wills’ attributes of trust and responsibility to some extent come naturally. I suspect he was just born that way. But, to me more importantly, he has also developed those characteristics over time through experience and by choice. Whether it’s starting his own business or working for somebody else, whether it’s volunteering as a coach or himself playing on a basketball team, Wills always seeks out work experiences that have and continue to cultivate in him a deliberate and impressive work ethic. My point here isn’t merely that Wills won’t be intimidated by hard work—he’s no stranger to sweat and toil—but that he’s also not afraid of stepping into new and unfamiliar territory. I know this firsthand from watching Wills in my classes. I teach literature and writing, subjects Wills isn’t instinctively drawn to, but nonetheless he returned time and again to my classes, where he was faced with subject matter he wasn’t familiar with and classmates who, in some cases as English majors, were more academically prepared. But Wills wasn’t daunted by those challenges. He saw something of value he needed and wanted, and so he drew on that internal quality he possesses—call it courage or spunk or nerve—and stepped up. When you need him to, Wills will always step up. In addition to these individual strengths, Wills also understands the sense and spirit of teams. Wills always finds his right fit in a group focused on a goal. Whether it’s on a basketball team, in a classroom, or working on a collaborative project, Wills knows when it’s time to lead, and he also knows when it’s right for somebody else to take that role. He is good- natured, endearing, and genuine. He makes people around him feel good. He asks questions, and he listens to the answers. He shows real interest and investment in his teammates and co-workers. He is, in a word, authentic—which to me is high praise. I recommend him with the utmost confidence. Sincerely, Nels Christensen Associate Professor of English 611 EAST PORTER STREET, ALBION, MI 49224 | P 517/629-1000| www.albion.edu
