WHY'BUY LOCAL'? Cherise Castle-BlughWhy is buying local so important?Local products =Local money.Supporting local means more money staying within our community. Every dollar spentgenerates twice as much income for the local economy. Buying local is more fulfilling.Knowing that your product has a story and that it came from within makes it all themore enjoyable. When we buy local, we create a more intimate relationshipwith the people in our community. 1) Buy Local - Support yourself Several studies have shown that when you buy from an independent, locally-owned business, rather than a nationally- owned business, significantly more of your money is used to make purchases from other local businesses, service providers, and farms -- continuing to strengthen the economic base of the community. 2) Support Community Groups Non-profit organizations receive on average 250% more support from smaller business owners than they do from large businesses.

3) Keep our Community UniqueWhere we shop, where we eat and have fun -- all of it makes our communityhome. Our one-of-a-kind businesses are an integral part of the distinctivecharacter of this place. Our tourism businesses also benefit. “When peoplego on vacation they generally seek out destinations that offer them the sense of being someplace, not just anyplace.” ~ Richard Moe,Researcher. 4) Reduce Environmental Impact Locally owned businesses can make more local purchases requiring less transportation, and generally set up shop in town or city centers as opposed to developing on the fringe. This generally means contributing less to sprawl, congestion, habitat loss, and pollution. 5) Create more good jobs Small local businesses are the largest employer nationally, and in our community, provide the most jobs to residents. #preservinglocalculture #producinglocaltalent #promotinglocalbusiness WHY'BUY LOCAL'? Continued. 6) Get Better Service Local businesses often hire people with a better understanding of the products they are selling and take more time to get to know customers. 7) Invest In Community Local businesses are owned by people who live in this community, are less likely to leave, and are more invested in the community’s future. 8) Put Your Taxes To Good Use Local businesses in town centers require comparatively little infrastructure investment and make more efficient use of public services as compared to nationally- owned stores entering the community.

WHO AM I? by CheriseCastle-BlughI'm a hard-worker. I persevere even in the midst of faithfully; to pray deeper; to work harder; to studyforeseeable defeat. more. Those lost opportunities demands me to beMy first conversation for the day is with God. I ask more vigilant, to observe even closer, and to fightHim what He wills for me this day and to allow me the harder. Those lost opportunities demands me to seekGrace to do His will. And then every single day, I plan out role models, to seek advice and to complain less.a goal, I write that goal down in mynotebook, not my tablet or phone, and Those lost opportunities reminds me that Ithen I dream that goal realized. I ask myself MUST work hard, that I MUST succeedeach day, 'Want DO you want to achieve even if I fall. You see, when I fall, those losttoday?' Then I think about where I am now opportunities makes me get back up...andand where I want to be by the end of the gracefully so. I've come to realize thatday; I never ask myself where I want to be when I'm down, there's no where else tonext week or next year, but 'by the end of go...but up. Getting back up gracefullythe day.' I never liked constancy. I'm in love means for me: crying my eyes out a bit, itwith progress. It's how I measure my worth in life. means for me: no sleep at nights, (look atEach day I am presented with an opportunity or the hours I post my work online), it means for me:opportunities to grow spiritually, emotionally and reassessing the damage, the disappointments, thephysically and I make it my duty to try as hard as I can moments of hurt. But more importantly, getting backto recognize those opportunities.Of course I falter, of up gracefully means for me another opportunity tocourse at times I 'miss the boat' and the opportunity explore what else I can do and how else I can do itis lost for good. But then, that's what keeps me better. And it's then that I'm wowed. I did something Ihumble-the fact that I lose sometimes. Those lost didn't even think or know I could do. And this is how Iopportunities demands of me to trust God more know ' sometimes you have to lose, to win again!'. And this is just who I am- Cherise Castle-Blugh.SPECIAL THANKS TO:PHOTOGRAPHER- Sheldon BlughEDITORS-DESIGNERS-ENTREPRENEURS:-LOCAL BUSINESSES
