PREFACE The National Education Policy(NEP) 2020, has given a clear mandate for Competency-Based Education(CBE) to enhance the acquisition of critical 21st-century skills by learners. The first determinant for implementing CBE is a curriculum which is aligned to defined learning outcomes and that clearly states the indicators to be achieved. In consonance with the move towards outcome-based Education where the focus is on developing competencies in students, the State Institute of Education, Port Blair in collaboration with a dedicated team developed the framework for Mathematics for Classes VI to X. The manual comprises chapters that have been chunked by concepts/topics, and these concepts/topics have been linked to the NCERT Learning Outcomes and that too with a specified timeline. This framework would be a key resource for the teacher as he/she transacts the curriculum and will help the teacher to align the teaching-learning to meet the set quality standards. Your observations, insights and comments as you use this manual are welcome. Please encourage your students to voice their suggestions as well. These inputs would be helpful to improve the manual in the subsequent editions. All possible efforts have been made to remove technical errors and present the manual in a form that the teachers would find it easy and comfortable to use.
